Scott Embry’s Sunday York Preview Posted on March 13, 2026March 13, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GOOD VIBES was produced first-up into a 52+ 1200 at York (same track/distance/grade) and beat home Pretty Devine by 1L. There is a 1kg weight swing for a 1L margin which brings them really close together and the awkward draw for Good Vibes makes things even more interesting but in a world in which Rocky can slot in behind Marines Cry and Pretty Devine and stalk, she can go back to back. PRETTY DEVINE loves York, loves leading and should only improve again fitness wise second-up. MARINES CRY was 1500 back to 1300 and now back to 1200. Interesting to see if she has the intent early of trying to hold out Pretty Devine or box seating? STORM LORD next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GOOD VIBES WIN RACE 2 SATIN BOW deserves to win one. She’s been well travelled and well placed by Neville Parnham so far this preparation and a maiden handicap is right up her alley. Finished three quarters of a length off Superb Vintage last start and should get a nice run on the back of speed types like Gentleman’s Code and Mahler’s Melody. Very even race this – one of many chances. ANGEL LIKE YOU is a rare travelling Sean & Jake Casey runner. This mare tends to get back in her races so will need to sustain a run from a fair way out, but she’s capable. GOD’LL GETYA has shown glimpses at trials from time to time. MAHLER’S MELODY is drawn a touch awkward but can punch forward early to look for a spot. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – SATIN BOW WIN RACE 3 GOLD ENIGMA went around in a Belmont Oaks as a filly and now this time around she’s quickly looking for ground. Last start was annihilated in betting from double figures into favourite and after enduring a tough passage was still there with 200m to go. Huge effort in defeat and now finds a maiden handicap. INFRASTRUCTURE was produced by Darryn Pateman first-up at 2000m last campaign and then second-up gave cheek leading over 2200m at only the second start of his career. 59kg, 77 days between runs, 1920m – there’s a big against him, but a lot of these are extremely exposed and limited. OBSCENTINO was a solid effort into fourth in a 46+ to Angel Shame this track/distance. Actually drops 2kg back into a maiden. GOLD BEAU next. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOLD ENIGMA WIN RACE 4 SCREAM makes his WA debut for new trainer Glenn Webster who utilises the 3kg claim of daughter Sharni. He’s historically not a noted first-up horse (6:0-0-0) but his BM56 form is near identical to this 46+ grade and he’s on speed and a proven weight carrier. This race really lacks any depth so it’s a big opportunity to him to resume a winner, and being only 8 weeks between runs – maybe you can disregard those first-up stats? PRECAST looks hard to hold out. Did a great job to close the margin to 1L behind Magic Belle on a day where it was tough to make ground. Ready to win. REQUISITION might go back to his jump and run tactics with a 3kg claimer on? DIAMOND LIGHT trialled up well for her return. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SCREAM WIN RACE 5 SUPERB VINTAGE was the win of the day at York a fortnight ago. It was near impossible for the remainder of the program to make any ground at all and this filly was jumping out of the round to score right down the centre. Can go back to back. SAXON JEWEL met with some support last start behind Searchin’ Times and was in a photo for third with stablemate So Si God who lines up as favourite in a 0MWLY 1200 at Ascot Saturday. SUPER SUNNY has only won one race and that was second-up and the fresh performance beaten 4L by Just Walter John and Gangster Goddess was more than handy. Can also go forward second-up as well which puts him right into the contest. OCTOBER ROX was a nice return. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SUPERB VINTAGE WIN RACE 6 POLYVANOVA really deserved that win in the Rose of York. She had been consistently knocking on the door in the Great Southern with a string of consistent minor placings. She can lead, she can sit, she’s as consistent and honest as they come, she’ll be right there in the mix again. Ideal apprentice’s horse. RIVERCREST MAGIC put the writing on the wall at her return over 1300m behind Marines Cry. If Marines Cry wins the opener, or realistically even goes close with handy types Good Vibes and Pretty Devine, the form will look strong and if they can make ground she’ll be rattling home late. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY hasn’t had a lot go his way this prep so far. SIDE SHOW comes back in distance and gets weight relief and blinkers. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – POLYVANOVA WIN RACE 7 PRINCE TIKEA tried to lead from start to finish and was only run down late by Angel Shame (who was $11 into $5.50). He had the rest of his rivals safely covered and if Cass Martinan is allowed to roll to the top again (looks that way on paper) then he’ll be hard to run down. Should be peaking fourth-up from a spell and always nice to know these horses handle the York circuit. TAK GOES BOOM is E1 – but if he gains a start and backs up off 4 days he’ll be well worth having something on. Can back him as soon as markets open and then likely be set for top price or a refund! NORMA STARS might be a 9 year old mare but she continues to hit the line full of running. ASARKA has been catching the eye recently in mid-week staying races at Belmont. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – PRINCE TIKEA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4 2,3,5,7,9 1,5 3,8,12 Market Market
