Scott Embry’s Sunday York Preview Posted on November 10, 2023November 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MISS FLIRTACIOUS was a late scratching at York and was sent back to trials before heading to Northam for her official race day debut. She sat second in running just behind leader and eventual winner Salt Lake Shake and kept finding under pressure. This is easier and she should get across. BLAZING EMERALD may be wanting further than 1200m but they can make ground at York and Jason Whiting rides the track particularly well. Her form is outstanding for a maiden handicap but she’ll need to stay in touch early. DE LA BEAUTE is going super. Wide draw is offset by the fact there’s almost certainly a 3 and 4 deep line. HOTLIPS LIL is hit and miss. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – MISS FLIRTACIOUS WIN RACE 2 LIEN HYPHEN has found a really nice race to break through in. She finished third behind Mirrorschino and Kia Ora Tatou last start at 1600m and now drops into a maiden handicap and comes back 100m. Rises 3kg coming into a lesser grade but she’s shown more than enough to suggest she’s clearly the one to beat in a very thin race. PLAY WITH DESIRE has a set of shades added for the first time. Finished right alongside Lien Hypen in the obvious form reference race. BEERMULLAH is actually going alright. IT’S A LOVE STORY brings once a year form through Moora and Collie. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – LIEN HYPHEN WIN RACE 3 KOLCHINO hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long while and the jury has always been out as to whether or not he really stays. Comes back 700m on the month’s freshen. These 46+ races can be raffles but on ability he can definitely play a part. MONEY FOR OLD ROPE has won two of his last three and is extremely well placed by Dylan Bairstow. Great use of the ZJP 3kg claim. Won by the length of the straight at Collie. JOLLY ODD never looked like being beat a month ago. Lead and rolled from a long way out to record a strong win. FLOAT OUR BOAT is first-up off the back of a solid trial. Ryan Hill trained a double on Thursday at Northam and everything from his yard is going well. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – KOLCHINO EACHWAY RACE 4 COCKTAIL PARTY is really well placed by Luke Fernie. Won her maiden impressively at Northam and then two starts later finished 3rd in a 3 year old 0MWLY 1200 behind The Boss Lady (races Saturday at Ascot) and Riseanfall. 54+ back to 46+. Tick. PRANCING IN MILAN had a great preparation when last in work and importantly showed that she goes well at York (2 starts for a big win and a fast finishing second). First trial behind Mangalee was sound – keep safe. MADAME PRO should have finished closer last start. She was pretty stiff in the home straight. TAK GOES BOOM won his maiden in style at York. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – COCKTAIL PARTY WIN RACE 5 RISING COMMODITY grew wings to win at York over 1100m in a 46+ only two starts ago. Same grade, same track, same distance and only 1.5kg more on her back. Think this is a nice race for her to sit just off them and swoop late. Mack Hall doing a great job with small numbers. ZAC LUVS TO FLY usually builds into his preparation but this is a very nice starting point for him. EYE OPENER has been competitive in better races than what he meets here in recent starts. SILVER SAX is trying hard. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – RISING COMNODITY WIN RACE 6 BUDGERIGAR toyed with them in a 52+ at York first-up when winning by 1L eased down. Then went to a 60+ and finished 4L off Deetea and Rockin’ Rupert. Back into a 52+ at York and drawn to get a lovely stalking run behind the speed. SPREAD THE RUMOUR is a big danger. He should be able to cross them and from there she controls the tempo of the race. Big respect for him. PACIFIC BOXER comes back to York where he showed so much promise last preparation winning with 62.5kg. Racing a touch below his best? REACTION is accepted for Saturday and Sunday. What a job Summer Dickson has done with this animal. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – BUDGERIGAR WIN RACE 7 POWERFUL is a marvel. Last year he went around in the Broome Sprint, this year he went around in the Broome Cup. He’s fresh off a minor placing in the Kalgoorlie Cup and he comes back to 1920m. On speed and very tough. COME RIGHT BACK is a very classy galloper to be running around in a York Cup. Even first-up at 1920m and with 60kg he’s still a very live winning chance. BANDALERA MISS is going well at the perfect time. TONI’S SPIRIT is showing plenty of staying ability and there are plenty of nice country Cups coming up. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – POWERFUL EACHWAY RACE 8 BIG RED HAWK should be just about ready. Made a mid-race move last start and was found wanting at the end of the race but that should bring him on nicely for this assignment and Lucy Fiore can park him close to them. One paced type who should be suited to an early move at York down the hill. DIVINE JUDGEMNET steps up 420m in trip and attacks if off a 4 week gap but that’s how Liz Strempel tends to race her horses and they all go well. Hard to knock. CREZEE will find this lengths easier than recent assignments but he’s hard to trust. RIDING HOOD FAME has been going well all preparation. Little trier. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – BIG RED HAWK WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4,5 1,2,3,9 1,2,3,10 2,3,5,6,7,10 Market Market
