He was horribly out of form on the grass and was coming back to 1200m but yet was still too strong late for Weld. He’ll be looking for further but he just grows a leg at the track. WELD looked like he would be too sharp for them first-up at 1200m. Maybe the weight got to him late but he looked to have it safely parcelled up at the 600. SIXPENCE SPENT goes well at Port Hedland and only got tired late last week at Carnarvon. GALIBA next best. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – PLAYING ZEUS WIN RACE 2 DEBIT CREDIT took his excellent grass form to the dirt at Carnarvon last start when able to fend off the late challenge of Mahutas after going past Nights Mystery on straightening. Should only be improving for the dirt experience and looks to have found another very winnable race. Only has to see out 1200m. JUSTHANDY was poor at Carnarvon when she didn’t handle the kickback at all well and then was a big improver when second at the opening meeting at Port Hedland. WAR WARRIOR improves second-up. GREY MISTRESS is yet to find her feet on the dirt. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – DEBIT CREDIT WIN RACE 3 KING HALLOWELL went around short in metro maidens and was only 1L off Arid on New Years Eve. First start on the dirt and has the services of the most in form country rider in Austin Galati. Worth a look. SECRET SNIPER had her first start on the dirt at Carnarvon when ducking back towards the inside through traffic (and kickback). That opening meeting at Carnarvon the fence was the worst part of the track so thought she ran alright. ROSA BALLERINA can take it up and will skip along out of trouble. COHEN’S PAN wasn’t a bad effort last start. He’s a horse who needs 1400m+ and couldn’t keep up early. Like the way he finished off. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – KING HALLOWELL WIN RACE 4 SECRET LAIR went close on opening day. Kept finding under pressure in a C3 1300 and now drops back in grade into a C1. Winkers go on, Austin Galati sticks, proven (to an extent) in the conditions and races up on speed. Hard to knock. OUR KIWI PRINCESS had excellent grass maiden form and was able to swoop over them at Carnarvon to win her maiden. The second and third horses (Set The Scene and Rommel’s Return) have both won since which is an excellent sign. WHO’S YOUR MAMA has to step out to 1300m but thought she fought on well over 1200 at Carnarvon. OFF THIS PLANET was good in Carnarvon on multiple occasions in his Vaughn Sigley days. Keep safe for the new yard. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SECRET LAIR WIN RACE 5 FINEST CLOBBER got home really well down the outside to score last start. Malcolm Mackenzie’s team were on fire on the dirt last season and it looks like he’ll be having another good season. Impressive win. ELITE TIME ran second in that same event to record a stable quinella (at juicy odds too). 54kg after the ZJP claim makes her an attractive proposition and a legitimate danger. JOHNNY REB will keep improving into the campaign. HAWK is going well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – FINEST CLOBBER WIN RACE 6 AMBER HIGHWAY was backed into $1.60 last start and was forced to sit three deep throughout under 60kg. Was no match for the lightly weighted Mackenzie pair Finest Clobber and Elite Time and expect that form will hold up in Race 5. Extra 200m helps and here’s hoping he can get across into a better spot in running at the second meeting. BILLY JACK and KELLY’S LASSIE both have tactical speed and are drawn inside of him. Both should go well. HEZAZEB kept coming and kept grinding to win last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – AMBER HIGHWAY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 3,6,8 1,3,4,5 1,3 1 Market Market
