Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 4, 2022February 6, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BALAMANI was some sort of run on debut (watch the replay). Did a heap wrong after bungling the start and then was in a different postcode to them for the majority of the race. Once she was tested by Lucy Warwick she launched at them to run some slick closing sections. Immediately tipped out for a spell and returns here after a strong trial win. Think she’s got some X-Factor. NITRO FRED ran a narrow second on debut behind The Invisible Man at Belmont over 1000m and then lead and faded at his next two outings. Trialled up well enough and is drawn ideally up against the outside fence. Jump run types who hug the outside rail at Pinjarra are typically hard to get past. BAYZEL is a career long maiden but she won’t get many better opportunities to break through than this. ENDLESS BOUNTY isn’t showing the same level of ability as last campaign. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – BALAMANI EACHWAY RACE 2 SCOOTERS MACHINE was able to pinch a c70+ first-up at Mt Barker beating a relatively handy field (compared to 58+ Westspeed Platinum opposition) and then went around in the Fitzpatrick Plate and Mt Barker Sprint. Drawn a gate to sit up over the top of the speed and should be there for a long way at a double figure quote. SEA WAIF is in a rich vein of form and back on her home surface at Pinjarra and down to only 54.5kg should see her highly competitive. GALLANT RANGER has come back a bigger and better horse this time in. Both wins have been huge. HALATORION wasn’t suited back to 1000m last weekend. 7 days later he finds a far more suitable assignment. Numbers: 1 – 13 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – SCOOTER’S MACHINE EACHWAY RACE 3 HOIST THE COLOURS is coming from mainly country and provincial form but he’s going through the grades nicely. He’ll be double the price of Off Wego and Chiclett and on the same day at Mt Barker he won over the 1850m considerably faster than that pair and lumped a full 60kg. Drops down to 56, parks over the top of the speed and can stay. No star but like the way he’s going. WATCH ME NEY NEY is progressing really well and is a two time winner at Pinjarra Park. Building nicely towards another win and racing like he needs every inch of 2000m. Just needs to find a spot from an awkward draw. WEE RIPPER finished third behind Come Right Back and Black Chips at his most recent start and with Come Right Back winning again the form looks good. CHICLETT is in a purple patch of form and the way she’s racing she’ll get the trip no worries. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – HOIST THE COLOURS EACHWAY RACE 4 PRIZED MISS is no star of Peters Investments but she’ll be winning a race here and there. These 60+ Staying events are often won by the horse who gets the best run in transit. With so much speed engaged in this (Castillo Del Lago, Our Norman, Friar Away, Sembello) she should sit three back the fence and do absolutely no work in running. OUQBA TED looks just about ready to find some form. In August of 2021 he was a 75 rater and he’s now back down to a m67. Backs up off 7 days, get out to a more suitable trip and drops 2.5kg after the claim of Lucky Ramoly. CASTILLO DEL LAGO really ran them along last start at the 2200m. First mile was run almost 20L faster than class average and he was entitled to get a stitch at the top of the home straight. FRIAR AWAY was huge last start when settling three deep the trip without cover. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PRIZED MISS WIN RACE 5 MANTELLI looked the winner up the entire straight last time he was at Pinjarra. He doesn’t have much to offer when you release the handbrake so hopefully drawing up against the outside fence Jett Stanley can get the perfect suck into the race behind the likes of Sockoff, Olga Louisa, To Rise Again and Co and be right place, right time. SOCKOFF is a 1000m Pinjarra Straight specialist. She is super quick but so is Mantelli, Olga Louisa, To Rise Again and others so she’ll likely have to burn the candle at both ends and doubt she’ll get right across to the outside rail. VIA MONTE was well supported in betting last start when clashing with Spin The Knife. Ran a solid second and this is a ‘drop’ in grade for him. GALAXY CAT hasn’t been seen since her impressive back straight trial at Lark Hill. David Harrison’s horses fly down the straight, keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 14 – 15 Suggested Bet – MANTELLI EACHWAY RACE 6 MISS VASARI looks like she’ll get every opportunity here. Probably a mare who is almost on her mark but she’s suited to these 66+ Fillies & Mares type races and given she ran a fairly solid fifth in the Epona Classic when darting back to the inferior part of the track she should measure up again here. I’M PRETTY can be forgiven for one moderate effort. She stepped to a mile and fired up after missing the kick. Forgive and forget. LIPSTICK FLICKERS was a great run for the new stable. Kept coming and no doubt benefits from the outing. BORN TO TRY has been a model of consistency since joining Lindsey Smith’s yard. Can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISS VASARI WIN RACE 7 SPIN THE KNIFE looks the one in the Magic Millions 3 year old Classic. He dominated them first-up in blistering time at Ascot on a day where in front and railing was not the place to be. He skipped around Ascot 3.5L faster than 3 year old average and did it with 60.5kg. At Set Weights drops 4kg down to 56.5 and with his electric early gate speed he bounces straight on the lead. On paper he looks awfully hard to run down. RED FIFTY THREE is undefeated after three winter performances. Blinkers on, Paul Harvey on and set for this race. Not asked for a full effort at trials but the barrier makes it tough. PIXIE CHIX was unable to reel in Spin The Knife last start and now concedes him 2.5kg for being beaten. Hard to turn the tables but she has raced without luck for months. OUTSPOKEN LAD might be looking for further but his recent trial was sharp. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – SPIN THE KNIFE WIN RACE 8 STREET PARADE burst onto the scene with a strong debut victory over Snowdome and was immediately tipped out with trainer Rusty Stewart keenly eyeing off the riches of the Magic Millions and Karrakatta Plate. Had a Monday 400m jump out and then raced 7 days later first-up at 1100m. Went back from the wide gate and hit the line particularly well with a sustained run. Thought he peaked late and that’s a great indication that he has improvement to come. Interesting to see if they pull the trigger out of the gates to take up a position. SHEEZA BELTER was a brilliant run in the same race. She sat up on speed, absorbed pressure and still showed a turn of foot and grit at the end of the race. Barrier the big query. SHE’S GREYSFUL got going late on debut once she saw daylight and then at her second outing was a strong winner beating the main fancies in this. Big pay day looms if she can add the ladies’ bonus to her piggybank. MAN CRUSH has blinker and a senior rider on. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – STREET PARADE WIN RACE 9 THE SPRUIKER gets a 1.5kg weight swing on Proconsent for less than a half-length defeat last start. Had to do all the work in the breeze and was left a sitting duck at the top of the home straight when he went straight past Lorentinio. Should land a lovely spot in running here for Shaun McGruddy and this looks a nice assignment for him. Very trustworthy commodity and hasn’t run a bad race in his life. PROCONSENT has CJP abandon ship in favour of Beret. Interesting to see how the 78+ form lines up against the Fillies & Mares form but thinking that Proconsent will be super hard to beat again. BERET has turned a corner and won her last four in style. Comes into this fresh and is drawn to get a gun run throughout. LUKE’S GOLD backs up again and was completely unsuited by dropping back to 1200m last weekend. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – THE SPRUIKER WIN RACE 10 CLAIRVOYANCE hasn’t had any luck so far this campaign. First-up in the Miss Andretti she had to work way too hard in the early stages to cross and then fired up in running. Still kicked into the corner before hitting a brick wall at the 100m mark. Caught three deep throughout in the Scenic Blast last weekend and was eased out late. Last time she backed up off 7 days she was victorious, all five wins have been in winkers and with the 3kg claim of Holly Watson she looks particularly well weighted in this. If she leaves cleanly, she looks like getting a cheap lead. SON SON will no doubt track her every move. Plunged in the Batavia Sprint and never got a crack at Kenyluck until the race was all over. COMES A TIME ran well at his Michael Grantham debut and is another who will park just behind Clairvoyance. PLATINUM BULLET will be flying at them late if they overcook it in front. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – CLAIRVOYANCE WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1 1,2,3,6,8,9,12 3,6,7 1,2,3,4,7 Market Market
