Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra Preview Posted on December 10, 2021December 10, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ARNRAY looks ready to break through. Kirryn Scallan is searching for her first winner as a trainer and Arnray looks like being that horse. Hopefully it’s on Sunday because while I trust the staying maidens less than a dodgy food court vindaloo at the end of the day he comes from a C1 when finishing third behind Frequent Friar and Pale Rider and drops into a 2300m maiden. Blinkers on a Blackfriars, lightly raced horse taking on a lot of highly exposed opponents, looks a bet (surprisingly). SEMBELLO can roll to the top and control the race. Will try to sneak away at some stage. GLENAUREEN would go another lap if they raced over further in WA. Just doesn’t have a change of speed. XCAVATE usually goes well on the back-up. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ARNRAY WIN RACE 2 OH SOPHIA didn’t get the best of starts last campaign and settled rearward in pretty handy 2 year old races. Recent trial she found the front at Lark Hill and was allowed to roll. Never looked like being run down. David Harrison’s horses go down the 1000m straight course and she’s drawn to hug the outside fence (if jumping cleanly). Reproduces the trial and is hard to beat. LE GRAND AMOUR has only had two public appearances in Great Southern trials. Most recently beat the older raced horses in an open trial and looked to have natural talent. FACTORY MADE and STAR SOPRANO are both quick and should be suited to the straight course. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – OH SOPHIA WIN RACE 3 EXTRA SECRET was a really good trial most recently. There was a really wayward and fierce horse in front of her and she copped significant interference turning for home and on straightening. Thought she hit the line well over the concluding stages. As the full sister to highly talented 4 year old Secret Plan she is likely to attract a fair bit of betting attention on debut. SWEET ADMIRATION attacked the line well on debut and looks like she’ll only get better and better with racing. Got the feeling Rob Gulberti is about to produce a few maiden winners. BURNYA TO SURVIVE was a strong trial winner but just needs luck from the draw. THUNDER OF GUNS next best. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – EXTRA SECRET WIN RACE 4 PLAYZ WITH FIRE was posted three deep and working throughout on debut and yet still loomed into the race on the corner like she was going to play a part. Love the fact that she stuck on for as long as she did and while she’s drawn awkwardly here again, if she can get a horse to follow in the three deep train, she looks like she’ll have a turn of foot at the end of her races. Like the trials, like the effort on debut. RELIABLE CHOICE continues the trend of Adam Durrant, Peters Investments debutantes on the program. Only one trial this campaign when beaten 8L but was getting to the line well enough to suggest she’ll take beating on debut. LE GRAND JEU should settle prominently and make his presence felt. MADAME WU showed above average ability in her initial preparation. Numbers: 11 – 12 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PLAYZ WITH FIRE WIN RACE 5 BELL LAP put the writing on the wall last start when forced to sit three deep outside the leader throughout and still fighting on to finish second behind Uni Queen (with a further 1.5L back to third). Impressive effort, looks like a mile will suit and should get a far more economical run here. IDLE STAR is building and getting better and better with racing. DENZOE did a fair bit wrong first-up but impressed. ELDORADO RIVER has come back to racing well. When he draws a gate with a senior he’ll be popular. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – BELL LAP WIN RACE 6 SOCKOFF is the perfect Pinjarra 1000m straight filly. She is a hard going, high cruising speed filly who is drawn the outside to find the fence. Last time she raced down the straight she put on a galloping exhibition and see no reason why she won’t be winning again, same course, same style. Settled further back than anticipated fresh and was beaten 6L, but in a 3 year old Plate by The Front Bar, Beads, Bopping Blue and Ultimate Command. That form is on show on Saturday and should hold up in a 60+ Graduation let alone a C1. STORY BOOK was successful at her only run down the straight. The form from her maiden win was strong too. ROCK THE PLANET could be there for a fair way. BEAUTY IN ME broke maiden status well. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOCKOFF WIN RACE 7 I’M EUGENE should be ready third-up from a spell. First-up he hit the line well in an unsuitable 1000m race and then second-up Brad Rawiller pushed him into the clear like the winner before the horse off his back zapped him in the last 150. Should be peaking now. JOHNNY ANGEL flopped as a $1.60 pop at Narrogin first-up but pulled up with excuses. Has been given a while to get over the run and the issues. DAD’S BIGHEADED is drawn really awkwardly but was competitive in tougher races than this last campaign. MINI WINNIE is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – I’M EUGENE WIN RACE 8 CREATOR has weight to carry but has the form on the board. Third in a 66+ 1200 first-up behind Secret Plan and then has run into Comfort Me in his last two outings in high rating Saturday races. Comfort Me ran second in the Railway, Proconsent has dominated them since and is on display again on Saturday, Bad Wolf has proven himself up to the best stayers in WA. The form is super for a race of this nature. BLAZING TYCOON is still looking for clear galloping room 10 days later. Was nowhere for Victoria Corver to go and Blazing Tycoon went to the line bolting. ZACKARIAH BEAU comes from the same race and had similar traffic problems in the straight. NEW AMSTERDAM is double nominated for Saturday and Sunday. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – CREATOR WIN RACE 9 FLASH DUCATI hit the line impressively first-up at 1400m and now steps to what looks an even more suitable mile. Last time he raced at 1600m he finished second to Western Empire in a Lex Piper Stakes. He then went onto the JC Roberts, Melvista and WATC Derby. Resumed in a 60+, slides back into a C3 and is drawn to get the right run. CABLE GUY is flying and his effort last start was sectionally enormous. Did it at both ends impressively. SENTIMENTAL FRIEND is bursting to win a race and is overdue. INFLATION probably finds his first race where he can get some peace in front for Holly Watson and Mitchell Pateman. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – FLASH DUCATI WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 5 1,3,4,5,6,9,11 1,2,5 1,2,3,5 Market Market
