Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on September 12, 2025September 12, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OPAL TANGO has been going well without luck and this 46+ 2200 is a great opportunity for her to break through. She sat three and four deep the trip two starts back and kept coming behind Royal Law and then last start she was again posted three deep the trip and flushed even wider on straightening. Visors on, Shaun O’Donnell on and drawn to finally get an economical passage. ARNRAY is the proven stayer as a winner of 4 races at 2200m. He’s a one paced grinding type who ZJP will need to get moving from the 600. STYLE DIVA gets Pike and that’s enough to get many punters alone. SALARY MAN has had a mid-prep trial and been showing some grit recently. The Amamus minor looks good now. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – OPAL TANGO WIN RACE 2 AL UNIQUE ran really well outside the handicap in a 66+ behind shock winner Admired two starts ago and last start wasn’t disgraced when beaten 5L by Amamus (races at Belmont on Saturday). Goes from 66+ back to 46+ and after the Holly Nottle claim does look both well placed and well weighted. DESERT EDGE is another class dropper and can kick through to lead this event. He’s extremely one paced but he can stay and ridden for speed looks his best opportunity to win another. ARGYLE STAR goes from a 3kg claimer to Pike and that will attract the attention of many. WARRALEA DIAMOND hadn’t fired a shot all campaign until a much improved performance last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – AL UNIQUE WIN RACE 3 HOT CHIX LANE trialled behind Rock Fest and then won well in her most recent trial. The time wasn’t flash (59.64) and not convinced on the quality of opposition in that trial either, however, she’s found what looks a winnable race on debut and David Harrison’s team is going well. NOW YOU SEE ME ran third to Haida Gwaii and Lucky I Am first-up last campaign. That form now looks super with both those fillies multiple subsequent winners. DEW TELL finished half a length off Bold Fight in her first trial and then gapped them in her second. 53kg makes things even more interesting. WILUNA MISS looks like a pocket rocket and will jump and put herself into a position. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – HOT CHIX LANE WIN RACE 4 MANHATTAN STRIP is a Northam C5 specialist with his last two wins both the same track/grade. He found himself in a really trick position in running last start under 60kg and had to weave a passage through the field and try to pick up and sprint with no momentum last start. Thought he did a super job to close the gap to half a length and gave the indication he’s ready to run out a mile. COVERT ROSE was 1.5L behind him in the finish and meets him 1.5kg worse at the weights, but that’s offset by the fact that it’s William Pike jumping aboard a mare with a cracking second-up record. JUST LEROY has turned a corner and won two of his last three in style. IDYLLIC RULER leads (if he jumps). Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN STRIP WIN RACE 5 TAKE THE FIELD was really strongly backed at his return to racing (like he was on debut at Pinjarra back in February) and ran well behind Saam Time Lucky who has since placed in a 3 year old Plate and a 3 year old 0MWLY. 39 days between runs is definitely a query but think he’s got some ability and is the kind of horse capable of winning a maiden / C1 / C3 in one prep. DASHING DIVA has a set of shades going on and draws to get a lovely run close handy. Obvious improver. FLAMING RONDA will work forward into a spot and both of her runs have been encouraging. PROFOUND BENEFIT draws a barrier and gets Pike back. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – TAKE THE FIELD WIN RACE 6 TRUE FICTION put in a blinder first-up behind a nice filly in Eternal Wine. He drew barrier 7 of 9, ended up in the second half of the field and really caught the eye late when attacking the line into third. Drawn better here second-up and hopefully can hold a position or two closer in running. CELEBRITY ANGEL tried her heart out on debut when she kept pegging ground back on the lightly weighted leader. At her second start she’ll carry only 50.5kg after the claim for Holly Nottle. ROAMING AMERICA has run second in every trial and they’ve been behind nice types (Kings Court, Guarantor, Brave Wasp). IMPENDING LASS has only 51.5kg and is capable of burning across. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – TRUE FICTION WIN RACE 7 PROMISING finished less than 3L off Shmoov Moova in a 3 year old Plate and then won a C1 by over 2L back in January. Only had one start in June and clearly didn’t handle the Heavy9 conditions and was tipped out for a spell. She’s a pretty classy mare and while she’ll need a big ride from a tricky draw expect that they’ll burn along early and positions will open up. SPICY THANG was simply too quick for them first-up. She’s got 54.5kg and if she stops the clock anywhere near 58:00 again she’ll be very hard to run down. MAGIC BELLE won her first ever race around a bend last start at Belmont and will charge forward in an attempt to breeze. CALL OF DUTY wants further but trialled super. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROMISING WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4 1,2,7,12 5,6,7,10 1,3,8 Market Market
