Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 20, 2024September 20, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SCIENCE DEGREE had his first start in WA for Brett Drury when finishing second to Camera Action and with that mare going to Belmont and winning again in a C1 on Wednesday it becomes the obvious form reference. Can go one better with even luck. KRATESIS was in the same race and never got a crack at them at any stage. She looked to be travelling okay when held up. SUN KOSI met with plenty of late support in betting on debut and wasn’t disgraced. PLEASE MIZTER improves for the first-up run. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – SCIENCE DEGREE WIN RACE 2 DATE WITHTHE DEVIL put the writing on the wall first-up behind Stormageddon (since second to Prospector’s Pick in a C3 at Belmont) and from the perfect draw should be given every chance to open the W.Pike Boulder Cup Day account. DE ZANE GREY is enjoying life on the Goldfields for new trainer Gary Bowen. Last start he stepped to 1600m for the first time and was there for a long way. If he gets into a half decent spot from a really tough draw he’s more than capable. WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE found the line well on debut. MANGANUI is through the same race as De Zane Grey and is drawn equally as poorly as him. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – DATE WITH THE DEVIL WIN RACE 3 EEVALINA and ZING TO WIN went to the line locked together last start and with the length of the delay from the judges box many assumed it must have been a deadheat, however, it was Zing to Win who came out victorious by the most narrow of margins. A fortnight later there’s a 1kg weight swing in favour of the mare and she’s drawn to get all the favours. Think she’s ready. ZING TO WIN won his fourth straight race since the blinkers went on and he’s still winning after over-racing which is amazing. KHALIDA bounces straight on the bunny and should be in front for a long way. SECRET STYLE may have to breeze here but she’s a mare on the rise big time. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – EEVALINA WIN RACE 4 DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK put it all together last start and put on a galloping exhibition in the C2 1400. He let rip with a big turn of foot on straightening and was extending away powerfully late. He’s always shown enough ability and if they can continue to work through his quirks then he’ll make a very nice horse. Capable of carrying 61.5kg and winning again. MORE THAN ENUFF has a very negative racing pattern and gets a long way back but he’s flying and he drops out of a 58+ behind the highly progressive Secret Attraction. PIRATES ALLEY broke his maiden with a bit in hand. SOLDIER’S CAMP has been racing well all prep. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK WIN RACE 5 WANNA CRACKER has been thereabouts all preparation and this looks a fairly thin C2 event in which he could run over the top of them. Didn’t mind his run behind Secret Style and happy to side up with that race as the premier form. TOP FUN was only having his second start in WA when he sat wide for a portion of the race won by Secret Style and now is drawn to get every favour. Query will always be that he’s only won over 800 & 850m fresh as a juvenile. FLOBA was a big improver last start in that same race and can nearly cross these. RULING DAME is yet to fire since her return to the Goldfields but Pike sticks. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – WANNA CRACKER EACHWAY RACE 6 DEFENDING looks really well placed here by Ben & Dan Peace. He resumed in a 66+ at Belmont when carrying 60kg and finished 2L off undefeated mare Toropa and the in form Sentimental Belle. Drops 1.5kg in what looks easier company and is drawn to get a great run close handy to the speed. COLOSSAL appreciated getting back on top of the ground last start and won the Coolgardie Sprint with a bit in hand. Can win again. HIGH PRESSURE can kick through to lead and control the event which makes him a key player. REIGN OF FIRE was solid into third in that same race. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – DEFENDING WIN RACE 7 IOWA has been a wonderful horse for new trainer Simon Miller in the short time that he has been in Western Australia. He’s had his runs spaced, he’s not been overly taxed, he can stay and he’s getting in perfectly on the 54kg minimum. He’s the proven horse over the trip and he’s got the versatility to lead and dictate or sit and show a turn of foot. He’s looks ideally placed to take out the 2024 Boulder Cup. STARRY HEIGHTS got held up at crucial stages in the Coolgardie Cup and then was savaging the line. He’s looked all campaign like he wants ground at this stage of his career. ADMIRATION EXPRESS still needs to tick the 2100m box. RED CADILLAC showed last start she’s the best of the locals. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – IOWA WIN RACE 8 SECRET ATTRACTION was the talk of the town after her first-up run and nobody missed it. Looked a standout special last start and didn’t let punters down when backed from $2.60 into $1.90. She’s only going to get better over further and there’s a few nice races for her over the traditional annual Kalgoorlie round as she continues to work her way through the grades. She’s got gears. RYEWOOD has been luckless all campaign. She could easily have won 4 or 5 races. NO WHISPERING was brave last start over 1600m with 61kg and now will have to do it over an extra 160m and with an extra half a kilo. ONEMOREFORLEO gives 110% every start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SECRET ATTRACTION WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 3,5,9 5,6 4 Market Market
