Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 12, 2024July 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ALOTTA FIGHTING went around the 30-1 outsider of the field on debut last Sunday but was jumping out of the ground late when a fast finishing third behind American Thighs over 1200. 7 days later he’s out to 1400 and he’s drawn to get all the favours along the fence. If he can reproduce, he should be hard to beat. MANGANUI was an improved effort behind Wayne The Pain at Bunbury last start. That form is stronger than the majority bring to this race and he must be respected. EDWARD’S CHOICE ran another solid minor placing without winning last weekend. Continues to find one better. ABSOLUTE PLUMB was first-up over 1400 and was a grinding sixth behind Let Sparks Fly. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALOTTA FIGHTING WIN RACE 2 SUNSHINE TAFE was arguably a good thing beat first-up over 1000m at Northam when taking on the older horses and then went to a Saturday 2 year old race when running into September Born. Lucy Fiore rides 54kg on a Sunday for this filly and that’s a great push. HARRY THE PRINCE has only beaten one horse home in two runs this campaign but they’ve been in metro midweek 2 year old races. Blinkers on and into a country maiden should help. GREY REVOLUTION is hard work but she’s got some ability. CHARGING BULL trialled alright behind Takshaka. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SUNSHINE TAFE WIN RACE 3 PARORI should be too sharp for them over 1100m. She’s had three runs in Kalgoorlie so far which have produced a dominant on speed C2 win, a 5.4L demolition job in a 58+ 1100 on a Soft7 and then was run down late last start by Baalbek. Kesh dropped the whip last start (not that it looked to be the difference) and expecting her to burn across here and be ridden with aggression and intent. TAKSHAKA and BORN AND BREAD both have speed drawn underneath her which makes it interesting early. HERE’S DREAMING is a get back sprinting type but will need to be sharp fresh. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – PARORI WIN RACE 4 WANNA CRACKER and DUO MUSO both back up off 7 days coming out of the same race behind stablemate Novatorio. There was a flood of money in late betting for WANNA CRACKER and he was pretty stiff when held up at crucial stages in the home straight. Clearly runs for Chanel Cooper and drawn to get a soft run midfield with cover. DUO MUSO looks the clear cut danger and can hold up position closer in running from the better barrier this weekend. FIENDISH couldn’t get a run last start which is why he’s 4 weeks between outings. His first-up run was a ripper. NAUGHTY GOSSIP next best. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 12 – 6 Suggested Bet – WANNA CRACKER WIN RACE 5 MUNGO JERRY looks to have found his most winnable race of the preparation fourth-up. He resumed behind Baalbek and then ran into Talk It Up on two occasions including last Sunday when third behind that in form sprinter. He’s drawn a gate, he’s out to 1200m and most importantly there’s no Talk It Up or Baalbek in this line-up! Most of his rivals are 1300/1400 back in trip and he looks ready to win. DUNBAR is a patience testing commodity but on his day he’s pretty sharp. KAKADU got conditions to suit last start and took full advantage. HIGH PRESSURE back in trip drawn awkwardly looks tough. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – MUNGO JERRY WIN RACE 6 MORIAH took a big step from maiden into C2 company last weekend and ran really well. Was 1L off Brazen Empress at the finish but looked to be travelling into the corner from leader’s back when held up on straightening. Gets a 1.5kg weight swing on Brazen Empress to turn the tables and hopefully this week a more flowing run into the straight. BRAZEN EMPRESS can win again if she gets across without burning too much fuel. MILITARY ACTION could be better drawn away from the inside. Looks like he appreciates galloping room. ELSUENO has had a mid-prep trial. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MORIAH WIN RACE 7 CAPTAIN ROGERS backing up off 7 days out of a race that contained So Likeable, Onemoreforleo and Ryewood. If this was a mile you’d nearly declare him but over 1400m from the wide gate the confidence has to be pulled back a touch. Still think he’ll be hard to beat and popular in betting considering his racing pattern and his recent form. Going super. DANCE OF THUNDER is similarly drawn really wide and worth remembering he was beaten 1.5L by Captain Rogers two starts back. SYMPHONY IN RED has enjoyed the move to the Goldfields. ALL ON BLACK is racing well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN ROGERS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,12 4,6 2,3,5,6,10 1,3,12 Market Market
