He’s a full brother to Bird’s The Word and has trialled nicely down in the metro area, winning a 1000m Belmont trial and finishing second in his most recent. Drawn 8 of 8 but has shown ability at trials to suggest that he can overcome the hurdles on debut. MON CADEAU made his WA debut when finishing a nice second to Set For Stardom. Won’t be a maiden long. EDWARD’S CHOICE comes through the same race when a fast finishing third in an almost identical L600 to Mon Cadeau. Both had excuses too. MYSTERY BULLET got into all sorts of traffic jams last start. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WANNA CRACKER WIN RACE 2 RUBICK DELIGHT finished third in a 1600m maiden at Northam behind Be Awesome. She gets in with only 53.5kg and she’s drawn to get the run of the race right behind the speed. This looks winnable. ELUSIVE DREAM has been a fairly costly conveyance for punters but he’s getting close to a maiden victory. A lot of these come through the same maiden behind Dasshumisu and that’s probably a questionable form line to an extent considering it was 3L first to last and the winner was 40-1. NO PLASTIC and BENT CACTUS caught the eye last start in the same race. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – RUBICK DELIGHT WIN RACE 3 DANCE OF THUNDER was backed as if unbeatable last start but only plugged to the line into fourth behind Celebrity Witness. Drops from a 58+ back into a C2 and retains W.Pike. On paper really looks to get his chance. PRAY WITH YOU has been a great find for Rickie Brown. All three runs this preparation have been excellent, just gets a long way back. MY BOY EDDY has gone under at $1.65 and $2.10 in two runs in Kalgoorlie. Now 37 days between runs after being scratched at the last meeting and drawn barrier 11 of 13. Can win but no thanks. SEND ‘EM always chases hard. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DANCE OF THUNDER WIN RACE 4 LOVE DRUNK BABY continues a common theme at these meetings leading into the traditional, annual race round and that’s MR P.Fernie and William Pike. Concedes weight to many rivals from the No Whispering race but you’re swapping a 3kg claimer for the State’s best. He jumps, he travels and he can dictate terms to them before skipping for home on straightening. TOTAL LOCKDOWN is drawn awkwardly in barrier 8 of 11 but has been popular with punters all campaign. HONEST LEGEND is a bit hit and miss. YOYO’S always runs well fresh and is dangerous with the right run. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – LOVE DRUNK BABY WIN RACE 5 PRINCESS CHUNK (Pike & Fernie stop it) has had two runs back from a freshen and she hasn’t really had the rub of the green in either. She’s drawn barrier 8 in a field of 15 and so she’ll need the right flow into the race but her last 50m behind Witch Street gave the impression she was looking for a bit further and that she’s ready to bounce back to her brilliant best. ONEMOREFORLEO has been faultless at his last four outings and is drawn to get a similar run yet again. Hard to knock. CAPTAIN ROGERS draws far better here than last start when forced back. WITCH STREET won well last start. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS CHUNK WIN RACE 6 BIRD’S THE WORD went around $5 last start in the Coolgardie Sprint and from the draw never really looked on paper like he would get the run he needed. This time around in the Tom Sayers Memorial Sprint he gets a 1.5kg weight swing on Men’s Club and is drawn to get the run of the race in barrier 4. Think he can turn the tables. TOWN HALL is an X-Factor. Alternate form lines and down to 54kg. Flying for J.A Mason. MEN’S CLUB now has 61kg and has to work across from a wide gate. Could be vulnerable late. AL QUEPONE hasn’t raced since The Goldrush when holding his own in a key form race. Numbers: 5 – 13 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIRD’S THE WORD WIN RACE 7 VILLEINS has proven himself as a handy stayer over the winter period and this is far from a vintage Boulder Cup. The race has been re-handicapped down to a 74+ and there’s only 2 gallopers who have a rating above the handicap. He won’t get a better chance than this to wind up into the race and pinch a Listed feature. As we saw with Crescent City in the Coolgardie Cup the metro form is the form. BE OPTIMISTIC needs to prove herself at 2100m but gets a very soft run to suit. OUR NORMAN and GROUND BRAKER will attend to the speed and keep it an honestly run race. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – VILLEINS WIN RACE 8 VINYL has had a great preparation and finds another race where she should be highly competitive. She was beaten a nose by Mingora last start over 1600m and meets her 1kg better at the weights and draws better than her. Michael Poy knows her and she seems to run for him. Open race and looks one of many chances. MAIL has turned a corner since heading to Kalgoorlie and has now won back to back races impressively. MINGORA gets out to 1760m and the way she attacked the line you’d think it’s only in her favour. PASSION PRINCE is racing well and has tactical speed. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – VINYL EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,7,9,11,12 2,3,4,5,6,13 3,10 1,3,6,8,9 Market Market
