Beaten 5L at Junction, beaten 3L behind Cape Pride and then only beaten 1.5L behind City Mistress last Saturday at Carnarvon. Looks just about ready to break through and win one. JAKE THE PEG hasn’t raced for 7 weeks and was disappointing in the two runs at Port Hedland, but his first run at Roebourne under Rosie Mahony was strong. EXALTED ROCKSTAR has his first start for Greg Criddle. Has less convictions than most! HERO OF THE DAWN was hard in the market last week. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MADAME PRO WIN RACE 2 COMPAK was well supported in betting last Saturday at Carnarvon but had to do a mountain of work from a bad gate. Should get a far better run here from barrier 4 and Zephen Johnston-Porter is really starting to hit his straps in the saddle. WOJTEK won a C1 1000 at Carnarvon (after winning a Class B race at Mingnew in March) when sitting up on the speed and proving too strong. Hasn’t really fired a shot since. RAGING BEAUTY comes back to the short course. FASCINATION is 2 from 2 undefeated at Mt Magnet. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – COMPAK WIN RACE 3 GRACIEBIRD is race fit, dropping back from a mile to 1400m and is capable of kicking through to hold a commanding position here. She’s an honest mare and Sean Rains seems to target these once a year meetings and brings across Jackson Morris for a full book. Must be a winner somewhere? CAPE PRIDE stepped from a maiden win at Carnarvon straight into a 56+ and was far from disgraced when finishing second to the extremely well backed Looking Great. 7 days later he drops from a 56+ into a 48+ and he seemed to run for Ava Catarino. MISTINGUETTE is a hit and miss type. If allowed to find the front she could definitely pinch this. BEERMULLAH ran a cheeky race last Sunday at York. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – GRACIEBIRD WIN RACE 4 SET THE SCENE won a 48+ at Junction last start beating Albert who absolutely toyed with them last Sunday at York when backed from $2.80 into $1.95 in a romp. This race is no harder and kept fresh almost a month between outings he looks hard to beat. Has been a model of consistency since arriving in WA and is always well supported in betting. Nice race for him. SHAMARA gets back in her races and always leaves herself a lot to do but she’s got a big L600 for this grade of racing. THE DIVINE WIND is a trier. He’ll roll forward and loom the winner at some stage. ROMMEL’S RETURN next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SET THE SCENE WIN RACE 5 THE WITCH DOCTOR is going really well for Ray Malpass but she’s just not a fan of Carnarvon. She’s now 0 from 20 there but has probably run 15 or 16 really decent races at the track without winning. Maybe a trip to Magnet is just what the Doctor ordered? AMELIA’S BELIEF won back to back races at Roebourne and Port Hedland before refusing to jump at Broome. Has covered some kilometres to go back to Lark Hill trials and now back to the races. HERITAGE SASH was brilliant winning the 64+ 1000 at Carnarvon back on 7 July. Needs to lump 63.5kg here. STRIDE OUT is a Mt Magnet 1000m specialist. 3 time winner at the track. Rare statistic. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE WITCH DOCTOR WIN RACE 6 LAUTRE had to take off on a long, sustained run around them in the Carnarvon Cup from a mile back in a race which was won close handy by Powerful. This is a great race for him to notch up a Country Cup. TRISUEM has been up for a long time but she’s still racing well. Her win in the Pearl Classic was excellent and she’s always looked like she’d stay. Backs up off 7 and reunites with Ava Catarino who won the feature on her. MULTINOVA MAN has finished second at his last four. He’ll be in front for a long way again. SO SCHMICK is always a flukers hope. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – LAUTRE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,4 1,2,3,6 1,2,4,7 1,3,4 Market Market
