Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 9, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRIGGER FINGER went around very short off the back of a strong second placing behind Line Of Duty at York but was simply no match for impressive winner Floba. He’s a jump and run animal who looks as though he will be best suited when allowed to roll in the middle stages. Drawn 1, expecting him to lead and kick. Weaker maiden here than last start. AIDAN’S CHOICE joins Gary Bowen. Has shown glimpses from time to time since running second on debut (beaten a nose) and should be a nice pick-up for the region. TIMELY ADVICE chases and tries hard. She’s no star but she gives everything she’s got. EXCEED EXPRESS is going well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRIGGER FINGER WIN RACE 2 HAYDROSS had his first start for the new stable in the same maiden behind Californication as a number of these. They all get out to 1620m here and on face value there’s a lot of queries over whether many of them will run the trip. Think Haydross is one who will. DUKE I AM has been getting home well enough from back in the field to suggest that with an extra furlong he’ll be competitive. LAUGHING BUDDHA skipped clear on straightening but was gobbled up shortly after. Not convinced he’s looking for the mile. HEAVENLY MISS beat all three of them home last start and is another live chance. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – HAYDROSS WIN RACE 3 YOYO’S was one of many gallopers who had absolutely no luck last start in the race won by Nodustonme. The obvious concern over the form is that there was less than a length between 1st and 7th and less than 2 lengths from first to last. But to the eye it looked like Yoyo’s had plenty to offer if she had anywhere to go. Drops back in grade from a 70+ to a 58+ and gets her chance. Versatile mare who can be ridden to suit track pattern. NODUSTONME is an in form veteran. He’s tough and he’ll roll forward. WISE WORDS has been a touch hit and miss but the best of her is clearly good enough. LOVE DRUNK BABY resumes and is more than capable at this level. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – YOYO’S WIN RACE 4 VINYL was back to her best last start. She was bolting in behind them with absolutely no where to go at any stage. She’s out to a more suitable 1400m and if you’re forgiving of one outlier run where she was very disappointing then the rest of her preparation has been highly impressive. Looks a very winnable race for a mare with some ability. BILL THE BEE draws the best barrier he has seen in recent starts and is knocking on the door. Deserves to break through and win one. RECAPITULATE has definitely turned a corner. Hard to fault his last couple and this is easier than recent outings. TOTAL LOCKDOWN can roll forward with a senior back on. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – VINYL WIN RACE 5 HOLE IN ONE was eye catching two starts ago when flashing home into fourth under a 3kg claimer. 33 days later he had a senior going on and he knocked off the well fancied stablemate in Hidden Ruby. Happy to follow that through as a form reference and he doesn’t face anything tougher in this C2. CJP sticks and he drops half a kilo. Hard to hold out late. MAIDMY WAY won a race that contained Hidden Ruby and Princess Chunk last start. Hard to ignore that form. FLOBA broke his maiden well last start and if Trigger Finger is to salute in the opening event then whilst only maiden form, will still have been franked. HONEST LEGEND probably finds the top again and gives a sight. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – HOLE IN ONE WIN RACE 6 GALAXY AFFAIR should be a nice c70+ type. He resumed in a C5 1100 at Northam and chased hard into second behind Mega Reward (Races Saturday at Belmont) beating home handy types Trevern and Oly’s Choice. Step out to 1300m suits and he’s drawn to get a lovely run. KAKADU was climbing over the back of them last start in the 70+ 1400 won by Gluten Free. He was bolting and never saw daylight until the race was all over. He looks back to somewhere near his best and while this race contains more depth, he’ll go round an eachway quote throughout betting. Looks ready to win. SOLARIZE had no luck last start when wide throughout. GLUTEN FREE was well found last start and broke a long run of outs. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GALAXY AFFAIR WIN RACE 7 WHO BE WHATEE was enormous when three deep throughout three starts ago, won a maiden soft two starts ago and then wasn’t disgraced in a C1 last Saturday behind talented filly Duchess Of Gossip. Nice placement. CALIFORNICATION let rip with an impressive turn of foot to break maiden status and looks to have some upside. MAKIN PROHPETS finds this far more suitable than the 58+ he contested last start. GERARDJOSEPH (more a Jed Joseph man personally) found the line well at his WA debut. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WHO BE WHATEE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 2,3,7 1,2,3,4,7,9 2,3,4 Market Market
