Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 19, 2022August 19, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE ILLUSIONIST is likely to be poplar in betting. Last start really ran them along in a 1400m maiden (first 800m were 8L faster than maiden average). That race has already produced Kia Ora Jewel to victory and She’s Our Witness has run well since. Straight to the front and rolls along. PICK AND PAY can track the speed and shouldn’t be a maiden too long. DAWN AMNESTY continues to run well without breaking thorugh. Another good chance. NO WHISPERING trialled up quite nicely alongside Mr Magic Man. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – THE ILLUSIONIST WIN RACE 2 BLAZING TYCOON has raced without luck this entire preparation (entire career) but has been running strong races in 70+ company over the last few months and has been going round hard in the market in those races. Drops into a 58+ and backs up off 7 days. Nice race for him. LINCOLN’S LAW wasn’t too bad first-up at Northam and before a freshen up did beat a flying Tahitian Red. TOWN HALL has now won back to back races and John Mason has him figured out. No reason why he can’t take the step into this company. PRINCE OF PROMISES worked hard but was still too good for them last week. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLAZING TYCOON WIN RACE 3 ALTANI is yet to pinch one in Kalgoorlie but has been racing well enough to suggest tha from the inside draw she can go close here. This is a pretty evenly graded bunch and most of them have been in this grade for a fair while. Think this is about as good a chance as she’ll get. GLUTEN FREE can be hot and cold but on his day he’s hard to beat. Think he finds the front here which helps his cause. MEXI COLA can sprint well fresh. SOLARIZE has proven to be one of the most frustrating horses to follow this season. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ALTANI WIN RACE 4 TOTAL LOCKDOWN is no star but since Dave Smith has had him on the Goldfields he is yet to run a poor race. Last start was 63 days between outings and finished fifth behind Prince of Promises and Dalhousie. Think that’s a C1/C2 form reference that can be followed with a bit of confidence and so 7 days later Total Lockdown goes on top. JACKPOT PRINCE and CHOIX DE LACE both go very quick. They’ll turn the speed on in the middle stages. SO SWAY is out of form but this is the easiest race he has seen in 12 months. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TOTAL LOCKDOWN WIN RACE 5 VANCOUVER LAD has only had two starts in WA. Finished fourth behind Long Weekend and Talk It Up before splitting Talk It UP and Shake Baby Shake last weekend when wide and working at stages. The barrier hurts but if he can get across into a half decent position then this is very winnable for him. BALDERDASH didn’t show up at his return run, however, this is a big barrier draw. FACTORY MADE has run good races since joining Cambana Lodge. Just not sure if he’s looking for 1400? DELIBERATION will run a race one day when he gets some luck. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – VANCOUVER LAD WIN RACE 6 LONG WEEKEND just continues to get plunged in betting and just continues to win. Looking to win five in a line and establish himself as a genuine emerging talent. Since Brock Lewthwaite has taken his team to Kalgoorlie they’ve got to another level: Last 90 days = 55 runners, 16 winners at 29% strike rate and 16% POT. Take a seat on the bandwagon (if there’s any left). LITTLE SES is a nice mare for Kalgoorlie racing and while she was beaten a margin at Belmont Park last start she’ll bounce back at her home track. NURHACI could be hard to run down if he can find the top. JAKESTAR dangerous with a soft run. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – LONG WEEKEND WIN RACE 7 SEEABLE is yet another Brock Lewthwaite horse who has gone to another level in the last few months. Drops 4.5kg on his win last week in which he lumped 61.5kg and ran them into the ground (1.5L faster than average). The start prior he carried 63kg and ran them off their legs (4L faster than average). Not only is he winning he’s carrying weight and running time. Big step to a Tatts Cup 70+ but he’s flying. MEET JOE BLACK attacks this fresh and gets the right run. SHOOT UR SHOT is another like Seeable who steps up in grade but is in grand form. MISTY LAD is always there abouts in these types of races heading into the Traditional Annual Race Round. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – SEEABLE WIN RACE 8 LOVE DRUNK BABY always looked like a nice acquisition for Kalgoorlie and thinking that this race has probably too much speed so from the draw Tash Faithful can come out positive and then take a sit on the leaders and present at the right time. Winnable for him. PROTECTED ACTION has been a Kalgoorlie 1100m specialist for seasons and this is a great use of the 3kg claim for Luke Campbell. SHORT TALK was too tough for them at Northam. She’ll be burning across but may have to settle for the breeze here. TALK IT UP broke through last start and can go on with it now. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – LOVE DRUNK BABY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 7 4,7 1,2,8,9,10 1,3,4,5,8 Market Market
