Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 19, 2025September 19, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STAIRWAY was massive at his WA debut. He was a few months between runs without a trial and got held up at a crucial stage and considering the margin that was the difference between winning and losing. Lucy Fiore jumps aboard and he looks hard to hold out. ZOOMACHINO covered plenty of ground last start when no better than three deep the trip throughout and still actually loomed a winning chance. This is easier but wary she may still be wanting further. PIPE DOWN CHACHI was held tight in the trial and didn’t get much momentum. Pike’s booking takes the attention. PRINCE OF BONDI continues to go well. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – STAIRWAY WIN RACE 2 LAVISH CHARM had her first start on the Goldfields back in June when beaten at $1.55 at the hands of The Sharerghini and now resumes with Willaim Pike on from an inside draw. It’s the first time this season that the Wizard heads to the region and typically when he goes he dominates. WHATYOUTALKINBOUT won a 1000m barrier trial at Belmont and then backed it up with another honest effort beaten under 1L by a handy enough maiden in Hey True Blue. MAXINE’S WISH ran a few minor placings early in her career and looked the kind of mare who could win a race or two. Hasn’t lived up to it and now finds herself in a country maiden. ZED HOT EXPRESS made ground from a long way back last start. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – LAVISH CHARM WIN RACE 3 PLEASE MIZTER looks progressive and certainly runs for Holly Nottle. Has led and won his last two at 1400m and 1600m and see no reason why the 1760m will pose him any issues. He led them in the Melvista at 2200 and seems to have come back a more relaxed and professional animal this time around. THE JESTER’S SON gets a weight swing to try and turn the tables and from the draw gets the right run. FEUDING is dropping right back in grade coming out of the Cups Series. The claim helps and he’s proven at this level. HIGH PRECISION has won two of her last three and can show a decent turn of foot. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – PLEASE MIZTER WIN RACE 4 JUST FAMOUS won a C3 at Northam in July for Peters Investments, Michael Grantham and CJP and then lobbed at Kalgoorlie into a C2 and was backed as if unbeatable, however, couldn’t match it late with Lady Negroni who caused the boilover. Like the claim, like the horse and think this is winnable for him. JAYASHREE has her first start in the State and while her best form is over further than this she has the pace to overcome the tricky draw. CHIPILLY led and folded up at her first two runs in WA and then didn’t seem to like being ridden off speed last start. ADDICTIVE DREAM hasn’t fired a shot on the wet tracks in Perth. Gear change, easier jurisdiction and Pike sticking. Must respect still. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – JUST FAMOUS WIN RACE 5 INFLUENCING sat deep for a fair portion of the Coolgardie Sprint when finishing 1.4L behind Secret Attire and Secret Attraction and with neither of those two heading to the Tom Sayers Memorial Sprint it opens it up for him. He’s going to have to carry the weight but he’s got a senior on, a far more economical map ahead of him and does look well suited. CLOSE AT HAND beat him home in the Coolgardie Sprint and meets him better at the weights as well. He’ll naturally be hard to beat and popular in betting. GALAXY AFFAIR is a ripper. First raced as a 2 year old and now as a 6yo has won 10 races and has more ahead of him. HIGH PRESSURE is an enigma, but is talented. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – INFLUENCING WIN RACE 6 GINGER BAKER and SENTIMENTAL HERO were the only two that punters wanted in the Coolgardie Cup and cleared out from the rest. There’s only a 1kg weight swing in favour of SENTIMENTAL HERO but it’s the extra 340m and the fact that he’s now third up into the prep and naturally fitter that gives the confidence required to back him in to turn the tables. GINGER BAKER was as strong (if not stronger?) than him in the last 100m of that race and he’s now a proven stayer having won the SW Cup at 2200m on a Heavy10. STARRY HEIGHTS dominated this time last year but is he going anywhere near as well in 2025? RYEWOOD is just a cog behind the good ones but not far off. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL HERO WIN RACE 7 GIBRALTAR ROCK was a dynamite 1400m winner two back when gobbling up Chipilly in the last 200m and then last start was held up for clear running for the vast majority of the home straight, which was always going to be the risk being drawn barrier 1 and settling three back the fence. Pike goes on and he rides that position and these types better than anyone. Forgive, forget and follow up. GONDRINKIN was beaten at the 800 at Junction. Didn’t handle the surface, prior form on the grass, at Kalgoorlie in particular, was actually quite good. DATE WITHTHE DEVIL is one of the more frustrating (and costly) conveyances. Still does too much wrong. MOLLY’S MY PAL has worked her way into form and won well at Belmont last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – GIBRALTAR ROCK WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,6,7 1,2,4 1,2,3 1,2,5,7 Market Market
