Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 10, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SMARTRAVELLA raced a bit flat at her most recent but previous runs suggested she was building towards a win. Should settle closer to the speed today. QUIRKY GIRL looks the obvious danger but will need a fair bit of luck from a sticky draw. BUFF MAN would have spent a week at the chiro after his last start. Lucy Warwick should ensure him a softer run. EACH WAY TOM will benefit from an inside draw and Mitch Pateman engaged. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SMARTRAVELLA WIN Race 2 THIDWICK THE MOOSE is yet to show his absolute best this campaign but is always worth being on with a light weight at his favourite trip of 1400m. Gets a 3.5 weight swing on likely favourite Outer Detention from the last time they met. HIGH LIMIT should get a lovely run throughout and expect to see him charge down the middle of the track and be in the finish again. OUTER DETENTION was taken to town by Craig Wright off the back of two stylish victories and gets every chance today from the soft draw. ZANDARRAL brings some intrigue to WA debut. Could be targeting a Cups campaign. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – THIDWICK THE MOOSE EACHWAY Race 3 HAYAN LAD may not have handled the quick back up after a lionhearted effort when tramping extremely wide down the Charles. Draws well here, 3 weeks between runs and the claim of Mollie Clark puts him right in the finish. CLOAK AND DAGGER raced wide from the 600m mark at his first start for George Grljusich and was only narrowly beaten. Shouldn’t take too long to win a race for his new local connections. MISS MERIT has been a welcome addition to the yard of Jayden Thomas and the 1400m looks ideal. TRUTH AND LIES is unknown at the trip but was extremely unlucky to not to salute last start. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet – HAYAN LAD WIN Race 4 RARE SELECTION was eye catching when only narrowly beaten two starts back and followed that up with an unlucky performance where he didn’t see daylight. Couldn’t see him encountering that same problem here. OORAH was backed like a good thing and won accordingly a fortnight ago. A repeat of that see’s the in-form mare salute. AVIDUS hasn’t seen a set of blinkers for a long time and this looks his right sort of race. REIDY loomed at his WA debut. Worth including. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – RARE SELECTION WIN Race 5 JIMMY RAPID really put it all together last campaign where he absolutely dominated Esperance rivals. Expect the astute Craig Wright stable to have him ready to win first up. Follow him this preparation. BADGE OF COURAGE knows how to mix his form but his best form is hard to ignore. POETS PRINCE has been flying home from the tail of the field behind the talented Outer Detention. OMERTA is racing in consistent fashion but last start looked her race. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – JIMMY RAPID WIN Race 6 WOCKNWOLL attracted solid market support and won accordingly at this trip a fortnight ago. Expect her to settle prominently again and be too good. NOBEL SUSPECT was caught deep in the same race and while it’s hard to see him turning the tables the stable love punting him. SUPERFINE gets blinkers added and is going better than his form suggests. WELCOME SHADOW will try and burn across from an outside gate to find a prominent position. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – WOCKNWOLL WIN Race 7 HAPPY HARRY is resuming from a break and will look to cart up three wide with cover. Looked sharp in a recent 400m dash. He is classy and should be too slick for these. ANOTHER DEMON has always looked capable of measuring up to this grade and gets in well on the minimum. Expect him to settle just behind a very hot speed. TOO CLEVER resumes from a spell and has always excelled early in his preparations. If he has matured during his time off, this could be a breakout preparation. HALUSA returns to the Goldfields after an injury enforced break and some time with metropolitan trainer Beeps Pope. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – HAPPY HARRY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,7,8 1,4,12 2 3,6,10 Market Market
