Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 22, 2025August 22, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ZED HOT EXPRESS ran sixth at Belmont last start beaten 2.2L by now Saturday winning 3 year old My Authoritah. Obviously punters expected Productive to frank that form at the Fibre Sand meeting on Thursday at Bunbury but it wasn’t to be, now it’s over to Zed Hot Express into a country maiden to fly the flag. ZOOMACHINO has been okay recently and the drop from provincial maiden to country maiden is lengths. SHINE AND BURN was definitely better last start but again is likely to do it too tough. ELLOVAMAN hasn’t shown much, but Maley’s horses last 2 weeks have been flying. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – ZED HOT EXPRESS WIN RACE 2 THE LIONS GATE sat wide throughout to win a C2 1100 going back three starts ago and most recently ran second to Twist Of Gold from the breeze. He’s drawn to park up over the speed and be given every chance in a fairly thin race on paper. Looks a great set up for him. PENNED sat no better than four deep the trip last start. Back to back forgives. BLITZEM BABE put in her best run of the prep last start and Tash Faithfull takes over. FUZZYBOX has the speed to kick up underneath The Lions Gate so either leads or box seats. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE LIONS GATE WIN RACE 3 PEARLY NUGGET is going super and loving life on the Goldfields. She’s won 2x 58+ 1100m events in recent months and again stays same track/distance/grade and while she’s now up to 61kg she’ll jump and put herself in a position again. Getting harder with the weight but nearly career best form and maps to be right place, right time. DIEGO DYNAMITE has turned a corner and his last start was a dominant all the way win. Horses are seriously running for Holly Nottle. SUNSHINE TAFE finds this lengths easier than the 60+ Graduation that she resumed in at Pinjarra. TWIST OF GOLD has to make the step from C2 to 58+ grade from a tough draw. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – PEARLY NUGGET WIN RACE 4 CHIPILLY had her first start in WA on the fresh side over 1300m on a Soft6 and led until the final stride when gunned down by Odin Omen. She’s fitter second-up, Tash Faithfull sticks and she finds a race without any speed or pressure. Expect she’ll be very popular in betting. GIBRALTAR ROCK was huge last start from a mile off them in a race dominated on speed by Diego Dynamite. Issue is the barrier/map again. NEVER DREAMED has had an 8 week freshen. Form earlier in the season was good enough to give this a shake if he’s ready to go. BRULANTE didn’t take long to find her feet in the West. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHIPILLY WIN RACE 5 HEAVY METAL has had two starts for Peter Fernie in Kal – maiden win and a fast finishing third to Diego Dynamite. She’s definitely not as good as the market seem to think, goes round unders every start, but this is an extremely thin race and she’s racing like 1400 will suit. SABINO finds a new home with Paul Tapper and while he hasn’t won a race in nearly 1000 days his minors behind Top Fun (5 starts ago) and Odin Omen/Chipilly (two starts ago) really do standout compared to the majority of these rivals. FIENDISH is nearly impossible to catch but this is winnable. STEPCHILD a watch at his first run in WA for J.A.Rob. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – HEAVY METAL WIN RACE 6 SECRET STYLE went around $1.50 at her return to racing and then missed away by 2L and made life difficult for herself. Hopefully she’s on better behaviour second-up and with Tash Faithfull booked on her over Treasured Queen that’s the push we needed from Cambana Lodge. CELEBRITY PRINCE had his first start for new connections and trainer in a 70+ 1100 three weeks ago and put a decent cheque back into the kitty. You’d have to say he’s better suited at 1200m than 1100m so has to be a big player again. TREASURED QUEEN has enjoyed a consistent start to her campaign: Top 2 at all 4. NICCOLITE is talented but has issues. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – SECRET STYLE WIN RACE 7 RYEWOOD is a really talented mare who has been given a freshen, no doubt to try and get her through the Cups series over the coming months. Is a big ask to win a Tatts Cup 78 days between runs but think she measures up at this level. DECORATION is 2 from 2 undefeated at Kalgoorlie. Forget he went around last start – he hates the wet tracks – the issue: 10-15mm is possible at Kal on Saturday which would mean he doesn’t get conditions to suit. FEUDING has only 53kg and ran well in the Kambalda Cup. IT’S A LANCE nearly pinched it from the top first-up. Clearly come back well. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – RYEWOOD EACHWAY RACE 8 MISS WALL STREET was a massive run two back from the tail of the field and then went to a 0MWLY at Belmont last start when finishing less than 1.5L from the winner. Think this 58+ Grade is a nice middle ground and Mack Hall’s team continues to go well. Rarely runs a bad race and often goes around eachway. MAGNACHINE is well placed by Neville Parnham, especially after the 3kg claim for Sharni Webster. Should be in front for a long way. DREAMERS NEVER DIE was slow away until last start when suddenly jumping and bizarrely finding himself leading! Split the difference and he’s hard to beat. DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK has shades added. His best is better than these, but we’re not seeing it currently. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MISS WALL STREET EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,6,9 1,6,10 3,5,6,10 4,6,7 Market Market
