Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 BANDELERA MISS took a big step last start when racing close to the speed in a genuinely run race and fighting on bravely. Looks a winnable race. YOURTHEONEFORME travels up from Perth and has been there abouts at this kind of trip. GIGER WILLIE ran well last start but draws tough. BEST SUSPECT an improver. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BANDELERA MISS WIN RACE 2 EMBASSY SQUARE showed above average ability when last in work. This preparation has been well below par but if he can jump from the gate this is a winnable race for him. BRICK SHORT and NEW PRINCESS have both trialed only fairly but both come from brilliant ROI pairings. OUR MATE BOOTS back to 1100 is better. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – EMBASSY SQUARE WIN RACE 3 NORTHWOOD trialed very well before her debut and was specked in the market at a price. Was not the best debut you’ll see but Steele Casey travels her to Geraldton and this is a weak maiden. TRADE THUNDER was good on debut last campaign and has trialed up nicely for a return. SYRIANOS looks like breaking through in Gero. TRADE PLAN next best. Numbers: 12 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – NORTHWOOD WIN RACE 4 COOKING WITH GAS has been a few weeks between runs but the efforts this preparation are all pretty hard to miss. Sarah Childs has been vocal in her struggles to keep the horse sound but if all is A-Okay then he should win again. ANGRY ANNIE bolted in first-up and then was a touch unlucky last start. Best of luck to Madi Derrick in her race riding debut. HALUSA drops in grade and the first-up run was far better than reads on paper. ADMIRAL HUSSON a smoky. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – COOKING WITH GAS WIN RACE 5 BIG SHOT PADDY was nominated for Perth a while ago when the races were abandoned due to heat. Looks like John Reynolds has struggled to find a suitable race since and he is now here with 63kg before the claim. He is a nice animal and can carry weight. HOT STYLE bounced back to form last start with a strong win. SKY ATAS is far better suited here than the first-up assignment. TOUCHED has done nothing wrong of late. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BIG SHOT PADDY WIN RACE 6 KENYLUCK worked hard last start and was beaten a fair way out. The previous win and the minor placing were excellent and drawn a gate here he can bounce straight back. ECHO STAR is in a purple patch and Troy Turner dominates Gero week in, week out. BITOVEMU has raced without a lot of luck in bigger and stronger fields than this. KINTAIL is not going well but should improve at a price. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – KENYLUCK WIN RACE 7 RED PUBLISHER drew a bad gate in the Mungrup Stud Sprint last week and did a lot of work out deep before fading. This is a weaker race, he draws a gate, backs up off 7 days and Peter Hall jumps aboard. Rolling the dice again with the old boy(s). EBONY MAGI trialed very well at Lark Hill chasing a zippy leader. Form when last in work hard to fault. ABU DHABI looks like finding the front. From there he is always hard to beat. PREVAILING WINDS is well placed in this race. If he gets any luck he’ll be in the finish. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – RED PUBLISHER WIN RACE 8 FREEDOM BY CHOICE drops back in trip and returns to Geraldton. The runs in Perth look poor on paper and while they were nothing special they are stronger races than he contests in the Mid West. He comes across from an awkward gate and is hard to beat. SUMMIT TRAIL had been cold for a little while but rebounded well last start. Kyra Yuill is riding particularly well and the Hammarquist team are starting to fire up again. DANEHILL MATILDA should be very well suited in this grade. THREESUN just about ready. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – FREEDOM BY CHOICE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,5,6 1,2,5 1,2,4,5,10,12 2,10 Market Market
