Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 11, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 PEARL GIRL fell into a strong 3 year old maiden on debut with the likes of Adamus, Choice Command, Sounds of Then, First Strike and Olivia Knows who all look like to break maidens at their next few starts. This is hers for the taking. TEDGOLD is well bred and trialed well her debut, the danger. SUPER EXCEED has a number of issues but if he keeps finding the front will win one eventually. DASHING IMAGE was a Bob Peters dispersal sale purchase for prominent local owners. Looking for further. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – PEARL GIRL WIN Race 2 MAGIC EMPIRE should make it two for two for team Durrant and fire him to the top of the trainer’s premiership early in the season. Gets back in the run but has shown enough ability to be winning this. POPPIES is a 9 start maiden who can do things wrong but has ability. STEPPIN’ CURRY showed a bit at trials and may have come back bigger and stronger. ITZA BELLE put in a big run first-up last preparation but the trial left a bit to be desired. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – MAGIC EMPIRE WIN Race 3 CANDLELIGHT STAR seems to do his best racing fresh and he was a big first-up winner at Geraldton last season. Trialed against genuine A-Graders recently at Lark Hill and if Jess Gray can keep him out of trouble he’ll monster them late. TRADE TALK made a winning return at the opening meet and looks to have come back well. QUALITY FAIR ran second in the same race and gets a 1kg weight swing in his favour. POLITICS was a great purchase last season and trialed well for his return. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – CANDLELIGHT STAR WIN Race 4 AKIKO returned to the stables of Sarah Childs after a short stint down in Perth with Paige Kenney and former trainer Anne King. Childs and Akiko simply work together and she holds a mortgage over this race. Should be fairly push button for Banovic-Edwards, jump and she’ll do the rest. MIKIMOTO GIFT ran a big race when settling off the speed first-up. Has the speed to lead this if Halll wants to be there. ESPRESSO LASS can run a race fresh but was no match for Akiko last preparation. BRIAR WOOD ran a nice race fresh but this is just as tough. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – AKIKO WIN Race 5 STATE ATTORNEY is a much maligned galloper by punters state-wide. He will jump deep in the red, guaranteed, and drawn on the fence could be a nervous watch for those who launch into the D’Arcy Shorts. I wouldn’t! TOW ROPE should be a handy Geraldton addition, has speed and will find plenty of leader bias tracks throughout the season. DYNAMITE JACK trialed very well and was caught deep the trip last week. Drawn similar unfortunately. HOT STAR has shown ability and resumes first-up, no trial. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – DON’T Race 6 ROCKER CHICK will get back and come with one deep sustained run at them. Big win first-up and no reason why she can’t do it again. JUPITER RISING is a hard one to follow. He tends to do just enough to get himself into trouble and get beaten more often than not. Still a Class 1 after 25 starts and tends to race well off speed so will be in traffic drawn gate 1. Risky. STARBOUND was the target of strong support and ruined it at the start, improver. PARADINI is more than capable of topping off a huge day for the Durrant stable. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROCKER CHICK WIN Race 7 ROCK MYLADY was back last in a race where they went incredible slow and then were spiriting home. He was a massive effort to get as close as he did and expect him to be improved for the outing and Hall to wind him up from the 600. DIAMOND JOLSON would certainly give a fair bit of cheek if Forrest found the front. Definitely include. STOCKYARD GOSSIP won well last start and enjoys another soft run. MAGICAL CHARM could well open favourite and she finished her preparation off in style in the Oaks and Derby. Looking for further but will charge late. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ROCK MYLADY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1 1,2,5,7 2,7 3,4,5,7 Market Market
