Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 31, 2025January 31, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NICELY PLAYED resumed at Ascot on 7 December when running second behind sharp filly Nonesospicy. Since then she’s been back to trial, won a 400m jump out, and now heads into a maiden for the first time in her life. She’ll bounce straight on the front and should be too sharp for these. Looks an odds on pop. SCENIC WINGS was an improver at her most recent trial. DAINTY ROSE finished second to Conversation Point who debuts in a really strong 3 year old 1000m maiden at Ascot on Thursday. GLOBAL TRIP next best. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – NICELY PLAYED WIN RACE 2 RISING FAME has contested 2x 3 year old 0MWLY events so far and drops down in weight coming into a maiden. Excellent placement and considering she’s finished second to Yorga Pride who heads to the Breeders Classic undefeated it certainly looks the right form. Another odds on pop to start the day? SATURDAY SESH met with support last start and if he had gone straight he might have made a contest of it late behind Favourite Songs and Something Royal. PRODUCTIVE looks a big striding animal. LADY COCO was only 2L behind Saturday Sesh. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – RISING FAME WIN RACE 3 GOLD RUBY drew awkwardly at her last two and has still found the line well. Considering the volume of support that came her way last start willing to follow up, even though she was maybe a tad disappointing. Barrier a big help this time. DASHING ERIKA really caught the eye on debut behind Funchal and subsequent maiden winners Noble Connection and Kamakazi Shooter. Hasn’t been seen since (45 days) which is a natural red flag, but this race is not overflowing with depth. WIND WARRIOR ran okay at Barker. POLYVANOVA can give cheek fresh. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – GOLD RUBY WIN RACE 4 SMOOTH CHINO is only the winner of a Mt Barker maiden, however, it was a really dominant and impressive win and that was off the back of an effortless trial. Looks to have a huge amount of raw ability and thinking that in the small field he can win again and remain undefeated. Could be a nice horse. PRIZED RECRUIT won well down the 1000m straight first-up. SCHUHBECK is Schuhbeck. He caught the eye last start at Ascot but he’s done that 10 times before. COONDLE next best. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – SMOOTH CHINO WIN RACE 5 CAPRE OMNIA was back to his best last start down the 1000m straight and has found another very nice set up here in another C5. He’s got the barrier to stalk the speed with 3x apprentice riders on high-speed commodities. Looks a great chance to stalk and zap. PIN DEEP, ROCK THIS TOWN and DESERT WHISPER are all extremely speedy and nearly all three of them are ‘fence or fail’ types (sounds harsh but they’ve won 11 races between them and 10/11 have been when leading). Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CAPRE OMNIA WIN RACE 6 SO NATAYA is a more than handy mare resuming off the back of a soft trial behind Want A Winner who returns to the races in a 3 year old Saturday event at Ascot. She was stiff not to go close in a 60+ Graduation behind Watch Me Rock last prep and if they can make ground she’ll be hard to hold out late. SECRICITY really impressed last start and the All Grunt form is super with two winners already out of that race. HOBA WEST is clearly loving life for new trainer Bruce Watkins. NORTH FACE can bounce back off last start. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SO NATAYA WIN RACE 7 SHAKERATO is only 1 from 23 but his last three have been near career best and he’s now on the 7 day back-up with a set of shades on. If he’s ever going to win another it’s a 46+ and there’s nothing wrong with the No Peer form at the minute. HENRY HAS SPOKEN won a C1 and then was thrown straight into the deep end into a 60+ Graduation. This is a weaker race than what she won two back and is a big player. PECOS was better last start and is nicely placed by Paul Roberts. CANGUU hasn’t shown his best in his last three or four runs but these 46+ races are his bread and butter. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHAKERATO WIN RACE 8 MISSILE STORM looked to have the race wrapped up fresh before the ominous shadow of Axeman’s Jazz and Grant & Alana Williams loomed. He’s now second-up, fitter, back into a C3 and mapped to get every chance. Looks a wonderful chance for him to get the job done. FULL OF MERIT can cross and lead and showed last start that the 1600m is no worries. POINTLESS PRAISE made a strong WA debut. RUNFORROB nearly got a long overdue win on the board last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISSILE STORM WIN RACE 9 LONDON’S IMAGE is just a really good filly. Burgess Queen Stakes winner, runner-up Placid Ark Stakes, runner-up Lee Steere Stakes and off a freshen she won a 3 year old 1100m on the way to this Breeders Classic and then onwards to the Magic Millions in a fortnight’s time. GLASGOW LASS is a gamble. She’ll only be $3/4 but considering she’s had a significant set back and Mitchell Pateman hasn’t trialled her, there’s no doubt you’re taking a risk getting involved, however, she has shown that she’s classy. SUPERNATURAL has elite point to point acceleration. YORGA PRIDE is undefeated but this is lengths stronger than anything she’s seen so far. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – LONDON’S IMAGE WIN RACE 10 ANTIQUE QUEEN is screaming out for ground and gets exactly that here. She didn’t settle last start behind a very slow temple early and middle stages and CJP was forced to make a mid-race move. Faded out late but did cover plenty of ground. MYSTICAL MAN gets away from Ascot, and given his record at the track, it’s probably a good thing. Mollie Clark calls on the services of Lucy Fiore and his recent efforts behind Rocking Society/ Noteworthy/Stormageddon/Magic Whistle/Long Genes/Alaskan are good enough to win. FIOREYES is going good. ZACKARIAH BEAU turned back the clock last start. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ANTIQUE QUEEN WIN Market Market
