Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 6, 2024December 6, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SANTANOVA is a locally trained filly on debut who has trialled up well behind a few nice types including Mt Shirataku and North Face. From barrier 1 Stevie Parnham should have her in the box seat and expect she’ll take beating on debut in what is not a deep maiden. MONEY TREES worked hard on debut to find the breeze and then kept whacking away late. Back to 1000m isn’t a worry and the barrier is a big help. LE BEAU trialled well for his return. EXTREME RULER beat home Royal Escort in their recent trial and prior to that wasn’t far off Money Trees. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SANTANOVA WIN RACE 2 KAMAKAZI SHOOTER was well supported at his Michael Lane debut and ran really well from worse than midfield behind Ain’tsobad. He is no star but this race doesn’t have a lot of depth to it and if he finds himself right over the speed he should be hard to get past. I’M CRAFY still has a lot to learn. He finished fourth behind Jokers Grin in a maiden where Rissoles ran third. He won his trial over 950m and then gave Pat Carbery a torrid ride first-up when over-racing badly. REDBACK FLYER caught the eye on debut from a long way back. MAIN ACT has blinkers on and a senior rider back aboard. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – KAMAKAZI SHOOTER WIN RACE 3 GREAT EDITION gave plenty of cheek last start behind stablemate Caporetto over 1300m at Belmont. Prior to that wasn’t disgraced behind NOnesospicy who has since won a C1 and goes around an even money pop in a 3 year old Plate at Ascot on Saturday. Best chance yet to win one. MAVIS MYRTYLE went around 100-1 on debut but ran well, beaten only 3L behind Gold Maker and subsequent winner At Your Service. MANGIFERA improved sharply in her most recent trial. LAVISH CHARM wasn’t too bad on Melb Cup Day. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – GREAT EDITION WIN RACE 4 DUG ANOTHER HOLE raced wide throughout first-up behind Ain’tsobad and Kamakazi Shooter. If that form was to hold up in Race 2 then he will loom as the one to beat here. Always shown a bit of ability dating right back to his trials leading into his debut. This looks a nice race for him. BLUE PEPPER is a former high price yearling ($350,000) and was doing her best work late on debut. Barrier & map are big concerns for her. CHINO LA DIVA got KO’d last weekend. REPEATER is consistently there abouts. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – DUG ANOTHER HOLE WIN RACE 5 UNIVERSAL HOTNESS looks extremely hard to beat here. Comes back to 1200m but strikes a race without any speed or pressure and should comfortably find the front on a track that has suited the on speed / on rails horses over the last 6 months and with a strong front running hoop in Shaun McGruddy jumping back aboard. SIRIUS STORM improves second-up and gets another soft run. DUKE OF WELLINGTON was excellent in the same race but again draws awkwardly. LIPSTICK JUNGLE won very impressively on debut at Narrogin. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL HOTNESS WIN RACE 6 PROCESSIO is becoming frustrating and costly but she’s going well enough to win this. Ran home well first-up behind Ahyeahrighto and God’s Gate, unlucky on Melbourne Cup Day when held up at a crucial stage and then held up the entire length of the straight last start unable to get clear until past the winning post. One more time. FULL OF MERIT should be a more than handy acquisition for new trainer Steve Burton. HE’S ARCHIE is giving 110% and the Chris Stelmach yard is going super. SIDE SHOW a watch at his WA debut. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROCESSIO WIN RACE 7 COMEALILBITCLOSER is not an easy horse to catch, however, this looks a really nice assignment for him and a great bit of placement by Lou Luciani. Third behind Kerman Rock on a Saturday only two back and then got stitched up in the York Cup when trying to make a mid-race move. That kind of race that Comealilbitcloser could pinch. CANDLELIGHT SHERRIF deserves to break through and win one of these staying races. Second to Lord Randolph at two of his last three and seems to run for CJP. BLAISZEN CAZAH won his 8th race at start 102 – what a marvel. OUR NORMAN is building. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – COMEALILBITCLOSER EACHWAY RACE 8 IDYLLIC RULER missed away last start with the apprentice and was never in the contest. Jason Brown gets the best out of him and his previous form was good enough to win this. Jim Taylor rarely travels them more than 50km outside Ascot/Belmont so going to view this as the reason he’s sending staff to Bunbury on a Sunday. DELTA ANNE has come back a different horse this campaign. Maps soft, home track, 54kg limit. Why can’t she win? CANGGU can march across the face of the field from out wide. CATCH THESE HANDS is racing well below his best but gets some much needed weight relief. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – IDYLLIC RULER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3 1,8 1,3,5,6,7 2,3,4,6 Market Market
