Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 31, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DIGNITY BAY rans some good races when last in work, including a second to stakes winner Creative Hero and in the previous preparation a second to Free Trade. Trialed well for a return to the races and drawn the inside should get every chance. MISS CONTEKI makes her debut off the back of a good trial. Blinkers on, Pike on, Simon Miller juvenile. Going to be short. AGENT JAY is over a month between runs but the first-up run was strong. PRINCESS ZURI ran a big race on debut when 7th and was specked at a price at her second career outing. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIGNITY BAY EACHWAY Race 2 AMASENUS has had a lot of trials and finally gets to the races. The most recent one at Belmont when running just a touch over a minute for the 1000 was probably the most impressive and this is not a deep field on debut. HOOLAHOOPS trialed well and was far from disgraced on debut TIFF HAS SPOKEN trialed up really well but is yet to fire at the races. STAR TALENT draws wide but will be doing his best late. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – AMASENUS WIN Race 3 WATTO’S REVENGE was backed hard last start when finishing off the race well. There is a big query over the strength of the form with Phantom’s Star struggling in Albany but the run caught the eye. REDMILL ran well last start in a race which was run almost 6L faster than maiden average. ALL ON BLACK comes from the same race and he battled on ok. THE ROAN RANGER draws soft and should improve off the last two efforts. Numbers: 13 – 2 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – WATTO’S REVENGE WIN Race 4 SUN CHACEN trialed well at Bunbury for a return to the races and first-up ran fourth hitting the line behind Sunol and Roo. That is not a strong form reference by any stretch but this field is weak. RUM RAKER has put together two very good runs but both at 1000 and jumps sharply in trip. BALDERDASH is there abouts. MELARAB has shown glimpses at trials. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – SUN CHACEN WIN Race 5 GOODBYEFEDS is making a name for himself as a bit of a perennial place getter having finished in the money at 5 of 8 but his most recent efforts over the short course have been good and with any luck from a sticky draw he should be right in the mix. CORNFLOWER was jumping out of the ground late last start after going back to trials. EXPRESSIONIST has run fourth at both outings to date and he caught the eye at his most recent after flooding home late. PUCKAPUNYAL is one of the few on-speed runners and could get it very cheap. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – GOODBYEFEDS WIN Race 6 UTGARD LOKI returns to the races now in the care of Justin Warwick. Almost a month since the trial win which was solid and he showed well and truly above average ability for Liz Strempel. Nice race for him to resume in. MR KUNAFA has 61kg and a horror gate to contend with but he has shown he can sustain a run. ZACKARIAH BEAU has been knocking on the door all campaign. BURNING MAGIC trialed super at Belmont. Interesting to see if she brings it to the races. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – UTGARD LOKI WIN Race 7 SANABREANNA ran third in the Burgess Queen to Kay Cee and Tuscan Queen, split that pair when second in the Champion Fillies and then won the Lee Steere in style over Massimo and Laverrod. Was beaten last start but had a 3kg claiming apprentice on. Joey Azzopardi returns to the saddle and this looks her race. MONEY MATTERS has gone from strength to strength since being ridden for speed. PUT A SPELL ON YOU draws a gate to sit parked midfield. MONTELNA does things wrong but has a serious motor. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SANABREANNA WIN Race 8 MEXI COLA broke through last start in what turned into a slog over 1600. He steps into a C1 where the majority of opposition are very exposed and struggling to break through. He should simply be too progressive and too classy. VAGABOND BOY has been racing well but needs an ounce of luck from the draw. BLAISZEN CAZAH went close last start. BONNEVILLE BLACK did work last time out and can bounce back. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – MEXI COLA WIN Race 9 PLAYS THE GAME has not won a race since the Pinjarra Cup success on 8 April 2018. Has since had 15 runs and dropped 18 points which brings him back to a very similar handicap as when he won that race. Has been building and this is the weakest race he has seen since. Think today is the day on his home track. STAFFORD’S LAD has been knocking on the door. NICE GO ran well last start and backs up. VOLKSWAGON FRANK same story. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PLAYS THE GAME WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,5,6,7,9 1,3,4 1 1,2,5,6,7 Market Market
