Scott Embry’s Sunday Ascot Preview Posted on February 5, 2021February 5, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TYPE WON first-up last preparation split Indigo Blue (2nd in the Champion Fillies) and Dom to Shoot (3rd in the Kingston Town). Now she finds herself in a handicap maiden where she carries 56kg and takes on limited opposition. Looks her race to lose on paper. FRUIT LOOPS was a nice trial at Lark Hill when running second in strong time. Drawn the cutaway. BREKKY WITH A BANG had absolutely no luck first-up and now has blinkers on and C.Parnham on. CONVENTION comes from a strong 1000m straight race. No surprise to see some market support. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – TYPE WON WIN RACE 2 GUARDED will not get a better chance in the metro area to pinch a race. This is far and away the weakest opposition he has seen in his 10 start career and while he was bitterly disappointing last start his previous form is definitely strong enough. Finished within 3L of the likes of Prize Pursuit, What About Moi, Hot Mix and a plethora of other winners. Surely this is his day. VICINITY is a former Neville Parnham filly and looks the main danger. Has really hit form the last two since getting Madi Derrick aboard. SIOUX CITY didn’t fire a shot first-up. Trial was good. NORTHERN CHILL an improver at his return. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – GUARDED WIN RACE 3 SECRET ASSAULT is a grand old veteran, 9 years old and at his 70th start and looks to have found a suitable assignment. Always highly competitive in this grade and after the claim for Angela Johnston looks well placed. Only three runs ago finished within a length of Cockyjoy in a C5 down the straight. Good form for a race like this. DIRTY DOT brings Esperance form to town but the races she has been in have all been very high rating and fast run races in the region. Should measure up. GRECO like Secret Assault is a 9 year old veteran who is racing full of heart. BON VOYAGE is a frustrating animal but this is a nice race for him. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – SECRET ASSAULT WIN RACE 4 SEVEN KINGDOMS left trial watchers scratching their head trying to work out if it was the same horse who won a trial in shades by 3.8L in style who turned up at Bunbury and was beaten before the corner and finished 5.5L from the winner going backwards. Gets another go but wowee was he disappointing last start. Maidens don’t get much weaker so if he doesn’t win it’s life as a punting proposition. DECOY BELLE was a great run last start behind Dance Shoes, Free Solo and Brave Battle. Arguably stronger form than the short priced favourite will bring to the table. RIP AND SNIP and MISTARR VISTARR both look like one batters who will keep fighting. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SEVEN KINGDOMS WIN RACE 5 NOBLE KING looks to have landed in a brilliant race for him. Drawn wide he is likely to settle off the pace but expecting that with the rail at 15m and the cutaway in play that three and four deep building momentum will be the best place to be. Jason Whiting rides those conditions perfectly and the C3 form behind Shake The Bloom is the race we’ll peg as the best guide. BLAISZEN CAZAH also comes from that form race two starts ago and ran well enough to suggest he is getting closer to another win. JOVELLA came from that race and then looked a special at Barker. Duly saluted but beat up on battlers. VOLPE is going super and if he leads can give serious cheek. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – NOBLE KING WIN RACE 6 FLYING TARGET is going well and drawn to do absolutely no work in the run and probably follows San Crispino in the run. You’ll need a price about her because she certainly doesn’t win out of turn but her effort last start chasing Laylo was excellent and with only 52.5kg in a wide weights spread she gets her chance at odds to break through. SAUCY JACK might have 62kg to lump but only three starts ago he was in a G2 WFA behind Truly Great and Trap For Fools. Now he’s in a c52+. YOU AM I is well suited to this grade and runs for Angela Johnston. Going well, drawn well, ticks plenty of boxes. SAN CRISPINO has been a model of consistency throughout her entire preparation and with Pike on she’s another winning chance in a wide open race. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLYING TARGET EACHWAY RACE 7 DOMINEER was scratched from Saturday at Pinjarra to save for this race on Sunday. Might only have C1 form to her name but she has been hitting the line well against the pattern and now finds herself at an Ascot meeting where three deep is likely to be the best spot in running. Gets her chance to give Keshaw Dhurun an Ascot winner. MIRTH ‘N’ MUSIC holds the scalp of G1 winner Elite Street. Normally finds himself sitting last in unsuitable races. This profiles a nice race for him. PATY’S FORCAST was a revelation for Brian Rogers last preparation and can continue to go through the grades. Liked the trial a lot. SHE KNOWS BEST again brings Esperance form to town but it’s all strong enough to pinch a 46+. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – DOMINEER EACHWAY RACE 8 CITY CIRCLE is so brilliantly placed by Neville Parnham. This mare is a 60+ winner in a 52+, and comes from two 58+ metro races into a 52+ country race and only goes up 2kg. Her first-up run to Wilchino, beating home Cuballing, was excellent and then her second-up run she did a bit early to sit outside of talented mare Universal Pleasure but faded late. If she doesn’t go close in this on ratings she’s underperformed badly. BOYISH will give them all something to catch. He is flying and really appreciating Simone Altieri riding him for pure blistering speed. REACTION may not be suited to sitting back waiting for the cutaway but is going well. ALCINA a blowout hope with no weight. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – CITY CIRCLE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,6,8,9,12 1,2,3,4,6,9,13 4,5,6,7,(13) 2,3 Market Market
