Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on March 15, 2025March 17, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 VIA MONTE won a 70+ only three starts back and then most recently comes through the Esperance Sprint when only 3L off I Am Spartacus. Small field but a few winning chances and he’s certainly one of them. COUSIN IVAN ran a ripper at 80-1 first-up behind Agent Jay over 1100m and then showed it was no fluke second-up by winning a 58+ at Barker. 0 from 16 at Albany but has certainly turned the clock back! FALSE STATEMENT finished 5L off On The Mark – nothing wrong with that, he’s a talent. BLUE LINE rarely far from them. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – VIA MONTE WIN RACE 2 MISTRESS OF WAR was good first-up, great second-up and then disappointing third-up. If you can forgive one poor performance then she’s the one to beat. Freshened, drawn well and just needs to reproduce the run behind Twilight Tale. THE LAST GALAH ran well behind subsequent winner Dug Another Hole first-up. BATTLE ON BATTLER hasn’t raced for over 2 months and steps out over a mile. Big ask. BULLS EYE PERFECT hasn’t won a race after 27 attempts. Hard to get enthused. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISTRESS OF WAR WIN RACE 3 POLYVANOVA was scratched from Thursday to save for this. Firstly, genius because Belmont was abandoned, secondly, this looks really winnable for her. She’s better known over 1400m and 1600m so expect that Holly Watson will ride her aggressively and look to run rivals ragged over the 1230m. DEEP DISCRETION finished 2L off Hey Pino in a Pinjarra Maiden and that’s easily good enough form to be winning at Albany. GINGERS SISTER tried hard behind Alotta Dane last start. AUBREY’S TAR finds a new home. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – POLYVANOVA WIN RACE 4 MODELISTIC was ridden like the best stayer in the race to break her maiden 10 days at Pinjarra. She’s found herself a winnable C2 1900 at Albany and you would think that if an opportunity presents that Brad Parnham will pull the trigger mid-race and put her into the contest again. PECOS has been building to a race like this. SPANISH KAT jumps, runs and gives them something to catch. THE ROAN RANGER showed up last start. He’s just hard to trust. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MODELISTIC WIN RACE 5 CALL OF DUTY won like a good horse on debut for Grant & Alana Williams some 415 days ago. Since then he’s had another 3 starts and not been anywhere near the same level, however, his recent trial was quite simply better than that of Almighty Class and of Rope Them In. Trust the eye – trust Wolfey – bet. GOD HAS DRIFTED has been a big improver in the last month. Going super. SECRET STONES beat him home last start but on Sunday has a tough draw to overcome. MOORDITJ BOY joins Sam Faithfull and drops in grade sharply. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – CALL OF DUTY WIN RACE 6 PAIGEY’S TURN is the reigning winner of the Bracelet. She won in 2023, she won in 2024 and she’s going just as well in 2025. See no reason why she can’t make it three consecutive Pelicans Ladies Bracelets because she clearly loves racing at Albany. WARRALEA LASS is double accepted for Ascot on Saturday and Albany on Sunday. Interesting to see which way they elect to run. CHANTEL should nearly lead this. From there she’s hard to get past. FIGHT IN FLIGHT has been kept fresh to attack the race. Earl O’Loughlin knows how to win the Bracelet. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – PAIGEY’S TURN WIN RACE 7 SNOWDOME and ROPE THEM IN are both m103 raters and the Class Runners of the Race. SNOWDOME is fit, having won the Cyril Flower Stakes and Pinjarra Classic at his last two starts, while ROPE THEM IN is the ‘new kid on the block’ and the emerging sprinter in WA. Going to side up with SNOWDOME who looks the map horse. Norich/Devine Belief/Oxbridge/Scissors Steps/Mood Swings/burn and he can park just behind them. ROPE THEM IN will be flying late. Does have a Quokka on his radar so how wound up is he? ALMIGHTY CLASS a watch for his new trainer. DEVINE BELIEF can actually sit which is a huge help. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 13 Suggested Bet – SNOWDOME WIN RACE 8 SAULOK is a leader. He goes ~10L better in front against the fence than he does in any other position in running. All three career wins – leading throughout – so expect he’ll look to cross and if he finds the fence he’s a big chance of making that 4 wins from barrier to box. VOMO ISLAND drops 6kg run to run and appreciates getting out in trip. JUSTAMIDDY is a model of consistency but he also lacks a killer blow. MAKIN’ PROPHETS is more than capable on his day. Just seems to be a few versions of him. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – SAULOK WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2 1,2,3 1,3,4 5 Market Market
