Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on July 25, 2024July 25, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DE LOVELY LAD had won two of his last three, one at Broome and one at Marble Bar and in between he has finished second at Roebourne. He’s jump and run and he’s found a race where most rivals will take a sit. Great scenario for him. JUSTHANDY was the horse who beat him at Roebourne on 9 June. Has tapered off since but can rebound with Jess Gray on. BARTIME won fresh at Geraldton on the grass last prep. He’s very talented for this grade for racing. Just the first time dirt unknown with him. TARARUA next best. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – DE LOVELY LAD WIN RACE 2 ZEEWIJK is a Roebourne Specialist. The fact that he was able to win last start at Marble Bar (away from home) shows that he’s in really good order and think he can nearly cross these to find the top. WISE WORDS has won her last two at Carnarvon and is part of the travelling Ray Malpass team to Roebourne on Saturday. She’s back in form and for a mare who went a long time without winning a race that confidence boost is surely massive. DENZOE seems to loom but not finish off. CHAVORIO is improving into the prep. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – ZEEWIJK WIN RACE 3 THE COOLAKIN KING had his first outing on the dirt at Carnarvon 6 days ago and was too strong for the locals over 1000m. He now steps out to 1205m and no doubt from barrier 1 that Beaux Edwards will have one single goal: lead. This looks winnable for him provided he can hold his spot along the inside early. BAILEEES PRIDE hasn’t been seen for 55 days since breaking her maiden impressively. COMPAK is a model of consistency and ways hard to beat in this grade. VIKING FOREVER is usually thereabouts. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE COOLAKIN KING WIN RACE 4 LAND OF VALENS had five runs on the dirt last year for 3 wins and 2 seconds. He won 2x 68+ 1200s at Port Hedland and the Newman Sprint. His grass form when heading back to the metro area in early 2024 was woeful but in far better races than he meets here. Back to the dirt, Snaggers Sardelic aboard and ridden for speed he’s the one to beat. AMELIA’S BELIEF likely leads him and will appreciate not running into Espirito and Wakan Tanka. OUR KIWI PRINCESS has won two of her last three and is in form. ISOLA BAY a watch on the dirt. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – LAND OF VALENS WIN RACE 5 CHEDDAR BOB lead and won a 1406m maiden at Roebourne by 5.75L on 9 June and then went 5 weeks into a race at Port Hedland when dropping back in distance and finishing a moderate 4th. Back to Roebourne, back to 1400m and hopefully back to leading we can see him rebound hard. ONE ABOVE ALL broke his maiden by a margin last start and only rising half a kilo finds another winnable race. CALICOS GIRL and CHEWING THE FAT are both still maiden gallopers but are trying hard. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHEDDAR BOB WIN RACE 6 REGINALD suffered his first dirt defeat this season last start. He was no match for Kentucky Blue or Rocking The Merc late and faded back into third beaten 1.5L. He drops 1.5kg here with Kristo Sardelic going on and claiming and he should have no troubles leading this field. From there he’s very hard to get past. Looks an odds on pop? MULTINOVA MAN is a difficult horse to work with and is never a guarantee of even loading but should he get into and out of the gates he’s the danger. AL MAGICO is going better than numerical form suggests. HALLAROSTE is still wanting further. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – REGINALD WIN RACE 7 ZADAR ROCK can bounce back and take out the 2024 Roebourne Cup. The Port Hedland 2050 that most of these come through last start was a walk: first 1400 run 4.5L slower than average and L600 run 2L slower than average. They almost finished in settling order. Drawn wide is better than drawn in close for him and ridden to make a forward move at some stage he can out stay them. HEZAZEB is the reigning Cups Champ and is hitting form at the right time. AWESOME CHATTER jumped on the grass at Port Hedland and once he found the top was never getting beaten. KUTAYHA is building. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZADAR ROCK WIN Market Market
