Scott Embry’s Saturday Pinjarra Preview Posted on January 2, 2026January 2, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BANNERED and A SUMMER FLING likely settle first and second in running and that really should be all she wrote. They’re the best two horses in the race and they’re in the best part of a track that has heavily favoured those on speed / on fence over recent weeks. A SUMMER FLING went ~4.5L faster same track/same distance/same day/same position in running so even though she likely breezes outside her main danger, going to lock her in on top. BANNERED is still getting better and better with racing and clearly is a superior animal when finding the fence to follow. MISS TICKLE BOOM can get a soft run close handy in a race that looks like being dominated by those horses. VATICAN STORM trialled well but gets back. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – A SUMMER FLING WIN RACE 2 WOLF WHISTLE ZEL was really well supported at stages in betting on debut and ran second to impressive trial winner and debutante He’s A Machino. Should only come on from that first-up run and experience and if Jason Brown can kick through into the first four in running that should see him very hard to beat here. Doesn’t look to be any He’s A Machino’s in this. BURNING BRIDGES has won both of his trials and will race in blinkers. Expect he’ll be sent forward and looking to cross as many as possible early. Looks professional. SUPER FATALE was in that trial too and really caught the eye late and through the line. Could be the value runner of the race. FREE RIDE made an encouraging debut and now gets Pike. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – WOLF WHISTLE ZEL WIN RACE 3 SHE’S HOT was all the rage on debut as a 2 year old but could only manage second, splitting Good As Hell and Golden Opera (now in a maiden at Esperance) which isn’t anything to write home about, however, at her second start she finished 3.3L off Talkanco, Yes Queen and Loves Talking in a Gimcrack, so that’s more attractive. Two trials leading into her return and a barrier to work with. Enough to like but wary that with Pike she’ll be shorter than she should be. CALL ME FROSTY went to a $125,000 Westspeed Race first-up off only a 400m jump out and had a few minor excuses. Did a bit wrong and is fitter here second-up. Logical danger. BOSUN went around in the $50,000 maiden and made a solid start to his career. SATIN BOW gave some cheek fresh at 50-1. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SHE’S HOT WIN RACE 4 ARTICOLE comes through the London’s Rascal race which is on show a bit throughout the program, including in the previous (Race 2) with Bosun heading to the other split of the 1200m maiden. He ran well enough to suggest that second-up he’ll be hard to beat and Steele Casey’s horses are tracking along well at the minute. Key could be the first 200m and whether he can use that gate or gets shuffled back to midfield. BULLETIN BEAU had to work a bit hard early and then it told late first-up. He was fresh without a trial as well so the run will bring him on big time and he’s a horse who has shown a lot of promise across a spaced career to date. Always liked him. LUNA ASCENDING was an eye catching run fresh and went into every Blackbook in the State. MORF like stablemate Call Me Frosty in the previous was only off a 400m jump out so naturally improves second-up. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – ARTICOLE WIN RACE 5 WHISKERS HARBOUR is no star (none of these are) and could be capable of rolling forward in a race that seems to contain a lot of midfield/backmarking types. Going to gamble on him at a double figure price because there’s no doubt that Bob McPherson has him going as well as he possibly could. Third to Ginger and Tonic and subsequent winner Herault, second to Sentimental Legend beating home dual subsequent winner God’s Grin and then in his last two he has had excuses behind Take a Leaf and then was grinding away behind Rising Fame. Worth a throw at the stumps at 1600m. WILD THINGS chased hard in defeat last start but was afforded every mortal chance from leader’s back. YOU CAN CALL ME AL bounced back last start and can sustain a run. VEXATIOUS ROSE is a model of consistency but hasn’t loomed a winning chance recently. Numbers: 5 – 14 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – WHISKERS HARBOUR EACHWAY RACE 6 AZABELLE led and never looked like being run down last start at Pinjarra. Imaging that Holly Nottle rides her in the exact same manner and if they leave her alone for too long it could be the same result. If you just backed leaders at Pinjarra over the last month you’d be a long way in front and until proven otherwise follow the pattern. AWESOME FORCE broke his maiden over 1695m at Bunbury second-up and then was sent straight into a C5. He jumped a $4.40 chance and wasn’t disgraced behind Omerta Grace, Sandfire Rose and God’s Grin, and it was an awkward race where many of them were inconvenienced at some stage by a riderless horse. Back into a C1 the right move. ETERNAL ROMANCE has been building and building into the prep and looks ready now. SWIFT STREAKER an improver out to a mile. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – AZABELLE WIN RACE 7 COOL MEMORY is really well suited to the 84+ handicap in the Mandurah Cup. After winning a 66+ at Belmont he was backed off the boards in the Farnley Stakes and then went out favourite in the Hannans Handicap when third behind Multinational and Secret Attraction. No doubt Darren McAuliffe has aimed him up at this race every since that point and it’s a wonderful opportunity and show of faith in Holly Nottle. Should roll forward to at least the breeze and from there looks the one to beat. ANGEL UNDERCOVER is drawn wide and naturally gets back. She chased really hard behind Sky Duke in the Boxing Day Dash and will likely jump favourite again here. WITHOUT REG is flying and from barrier 1 he does no work. BRUCE ALMIGHTY won a 78+ 1400 first-up and attacks this fresh after heading to the Peters and The Carbine. Brucey can win. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – COOL MEMORY WIN RACE 8 LONDON’S RASCAL has turned a corner. Ran third to Like Clockwork and A Summer Fling at 60-1 before showing it was no fluke in the $50,000 Westspeed Platinum maiden leading and winning at $15. Straight to the front again and with a cheap section in the middle stages see no reason she won’t run 1300. COME ON EMMA was a nice return in a C3 behind Helluva Goddess and Princess In Red and sneaks back into a C1 second-up. Gets the run of the race too. SUPERFLUOUS won a 1400m and then headed to the Lex Piper, JC Roberts and Melvista Stakes as a 3 year old. Was only plain last prep but loved the recent trial and now has shades too. PYGMALION was scratched Wednesday to save for this. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LONDON’S RASCAL EACHWAY RACE 9 SHOOTING SPIRIT needs the right run but should get it from barrier 2. Hopefully at 1400m Jefferson Tsang can have him a pair or two closer than we’re used too and if he can this looks a really winnable race for him. RANYX will need to prove himself as not just a ‘ZJP only’ commodity. He has won two races in his life and they’ve both been for the Zephen and last start’s improvement could potentially be aligned to the fact he jumped back on for the first time. It’s a long bow but when the De Grandhomme form is questionable (Soldier of God and Zorbrist both poor Wednesday) and the fact he goes around favourite, it’s worth noting these things. GOLDEN KATHLEEN ran well in the Territory Man / Rally The Troops race last start but is a backmarker who will need conditions to suit. LEETRON gets Pike. End. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SHOOTING SPIRIT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3 1,2,5,9 1,3,10 1,2,3,4,6,8 Market Market
