She won against the typical Belmont 1000m pattern (next two winners settled second in running) and she was only pulling further away over the concluding stages. Up 3kg and won’t lead – so this is tougher no doubt but she’s smart. BABY PEARL has the speed to get herself across into a commanding position close to the outside fence and looks a natural jump and run horse who should be in the firing line a long way. IN CONFIDENCE has the tactical speed and race sense to hold a spot against the outside fence. As we saw on Wednesday it’s still the place to be (Art Session, Magnique, Flying Frankie). ROSTISLAV was finishing off powerfully late in his trial. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – SILENT DIVA WIN RACE 2 PROSPECTOR’S PICK can be his own worst enemy at times and that was on display last start at Belmont when he failed to settle at any stage. Interesting to see how he goes first time down the 1000m straight but thinking that Pike may just allow Let’s Talk / Lost Gravity to go early and then use them as something to chase down. LET’S TALK also drops back from 66+ company into a 60+ Graduation. If they allow him to lead uncontested against the outside fence he’ll be hard to run down. HEZANGELIC thrived on the straight first-up. LOST GRAVITY is another with straight 1000m experience and goes in the wet. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – PROSPECTOR’S PICK WIN RACE 3 SEPTEMBER BORN is a high spruiked 3 year old Colt resuming. He’s run second to West Star in a Belgravia Stakes, he’s won a Fairetha Stakes and he’s trialled well for his return to racing, however, the bar plates are on and that’s always a cause for concern, even if he trialled in them. Confident he’s the best horse in the race – but wary of the bars and the fact he’s weeks away from his Grand Final. HEZ GOT THE SAFE is an underrated horse and Graeme Ballantyne’s first-up, no trial have been flying. There’s no way he should be the outsider of the field. WIND AND THE LION looks like he’s going to appreciate a bit more ground this prep. POND MASTER had a genuine excuse last weekend. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SEPTEMBER BORN WIN RACE 4 FAMOUS DAIN is a wet tracker. If (big if) the Bureau of Meteorology can be trusted then the forecast suggests up to 25mm on Friday and another 10mm Saturday leading into the meeting and that would suit him down to the ground. Backed as if unbeatable last start but never got warm on a Good4 in a slowly run race. This is much more to his liking. GRAND RESERVE and BEEJAYBOY went to the line locked together at Pinjarra last start and both are grinding type winter stayers. BONDI BAY showed something last start but was scratched last weekend with a hoof abscess. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – FAMOUS DAIN WIN RACE 5 KELVINATER was back to his best last start and never gave them a look in, leading from start to finish. He was scratched from Wednesday’s transferred meeting to save for this $100,000 Final and if the track plays like it has in recent times, then he’ll be hard to run down, even if he has to breeze outside speedy mare Cheryl’s Shout. BOHEMIAN DIAMOND was all the rage at her return to racing and didn’t let punters down with a soft win. This map is a lot tougher with an extra 2kg at a shorter price – not as attractive. ROYAL GAP has put in two rippers so far. HAMMARMILL always there abouts. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – KELVINATER EACHWAY RACE 6 RICHANCO is bursting his way through the grades this campaign. He’s raw, he’s high speed, he’s powerful and he’s only getting better with racing. This is a clear step up from the pair of 66+ wins he’s produced this time in and it’s first start down the 1000m straight but the Pearce Brothers last three runners down the straight have all been winners (Hezangelic, Galaxy Affair & Art Session). Nice horse. CELESTIAL STORM was too sharp for them first-up and looms as the biggest danger. HELL I AM goes super fresh, swims and dropped a few points late last prep. CHARINO did win the Max Simmonds Stakes off 59 days. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – RICHANCO WIN RACE 7 CLOSE TALKER has drawn barrier 9/9 on both occasions to start this preparation and now third-up should be fully fit and is drawn to box seat behind Sunbronzed /Pretty Devine who should take her everywhere she needs to go in the home straight. Put the writing on the wall last start with a fast finishing second and looks ready now. COSTAZITA lumped 61kg off a 487 day break at his return to racing. Super job all things considered. ANOTHER STRIKE should have won more races but has thrown a few away with bad manners. Easily talented enough. SUNBRONZED should bounce out on the lead and be there a long way. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – CLOSE TALKER EACHWAY RACE 8 DUG ANOTHER HOLE just continues to front up and run big races. He’s deep into a preparation now (start 14) but it’s hard to knock what he’s producing. He’ll again march his way across the face of the field into a prominent position in running and likely run another big eachway race. CAMERA ACTION is a nice progressive 4 year old mare who can continue to win her way through the grades. Tougher opposition but well mapped and weighted and has a big L600 on her. SPEED DREAM just doesn’t go at Ascot. Take those runs away and he’s got a great strike rate. BELLINI MISS a watch fresh.
