Scott Embry’s Saturday Leonora Preview Posted on October 9, 2025October 9, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ELSUENO should be too classy for these in a Class B Trophy Race. He finished in the money at four consecutive C2 assignments at Kalgoorlie between 1300 & 1600m and has the speed to lead. Straight to the front. FAST JOHN was handy in all the Broome maidens and then finally got the job done at Derby. Resumes here off an 8 week freshen. HOOCHIE GUCCI didn’t really handle the dirt racing in the NW which is a concern but held his own at Geraldton in a C1 on Opening Day. JIMMY SEVEN broke his maiden at start 37 last week at Moora as the despised outsider. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – ELSUENO WIN RACE 2 BLOWIN SMOKE finished second to Blitz at Mt Magnet and then finished 2L off Must Be Nice and Flaming Ronda at Geraldton on the grass. That’s good enough to be winning this. CASINO ROYALE had 7 runs at Carnarvon and 1 run at Junction for Ray Malpass and was unable to snatch a win. Ran second on four occasions and now 28 days later he finds himself at another new home with Kylie Craig and heading to Leonora. LENNOX LASS is on the 7 day spin after finishing third to Makwell Smart at Moora. SOLARIS GLOW an improver if kicking through to lead. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLOWIN SMOKE WIN RACE 3 FRIES WITH THAT has had a consistent 10 start campaign from Northam to Broome to Carnarvon to Junction to Mt Magnet to now Leonora. He’s travelled the entire State and continues to race well deep into a campaign. Not much speed in this and expect that Peter Farrell gets his chance to send him forward over 1600. HEY BULL won at Junction three back and then ran second to a very much in form Lacevinsky at Carnarvon. Going well. URBAN WARRIOR can be hit and miss but on his day he’s capable. BEDOUIN VILLA was scratched on Hannans Day to save for this. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – FRIES WITH THAT WIN RACE 4 DUBLIN RED is a throw at the stumps. Having her 13th run of the campaign and having dropped all the way back down to a c56 rater. Finsied only 3L off Pearly Nugget and Twist of Gold three starts ago. Just needs to reproduce that run. Has been wide throughout last two so has had some excuse. LE TROY comes right up in grade but has raced consistently throughout the prep. NICCOLITE hasn’t fired a shot since arriving in WA with Justin Alexander Robins but her best is better than these. Watch for any market support. STEPCHILD ran second in a BM70 at Sandown back in February and now all of a sudden he finds himself second-up in WA into a Leonora 64+. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – DUBLIN RED WIN RACE 5 FORTUNES LUCK has her first start for new trainer Peter Bamford and if this race was on grass she would be $1.50. Always risky with horses having their first start on the dirt but she’s drawn to park wide and use the 2kg claim of Natika Riordan to her advantage. SABINO is 1760m back to 1200m in the space of 9 days. Has been in great form and deserves a win but that’s an ask? KING MOYA made his WA debut on 24 August at Kalgoorlie and like every one of J.A Robins horses hasn’t raced for 7 weeks since. Market best guide with them. RULING DAME a watch on the fresh side. Dropped from a c60 to c53 in one prep. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FORTUNES LUCK WIN RACE 6 GOT LUCKY won the Leonora, Leinster, Laverton Cups treble back in 2023 and bounced back to form taking out the Mt Magnet Cup at nearly 40-1. All of a sudden he’s back on his ‘home track’ and drops half a kilo start to start after the claim for Natika Riordan. Horses for courses and he loves it here. BOAB BOY is getting out to 1600m which is probably on his limit distance wise but his last two minors for new trainer Dave Smith have been excellent. He finished second to Close At Hand in the Open Sprint on Boulder Cup Day and leads this. Just needs to run 1600. DANCING JACK is dropping out of the Boulder and Kalgoorlie Cups. Has to be a threat. HIS EMINENCE should be a nice acquisition for the Cups Series. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – GOT LUCKY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,4,5,7,8 1 1,3,5 Market Market
