Scott Embry’s Saturday Leonora Preview Posted on October 10, 2024October 10, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ZORROS AIM finished 5L off Flower of Gold / Talkaway / Zorbrist in a 1300m maiden on debut at Northam and now heads to a 4 horse race at Leonora. Drops 4kg off that run and Amy Jo Hayes claims 3kg which is huge. SCHNOOTS didn’t handle the conditions at Junction which is a concern but this is a different scenario if she can lick through to lead. FAIR GRACE’s form has tapered off noticeably late. Hopefully blinkers help. ALL CHILL fourth. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ZORROS AIM WIN RACE 2 SPEAKING SWAHILI finished third behind King Kawana and Stryker’s Gal at the opening meeting at Geraldton in a maiden where they’ve gone 5L quicker than average. He was responsible for that tempo and now he looks to have found a very winnable race at Leonora. SASSY ROXY let rip with an impressive turn of foot to score at Mt Magnet. Marching was an impressive winner out of that race too at Moora. LAMOUR ESPRIT can sit over the speed. LUCKY PURSUIT next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SPEAKING SWAHILI WIN RACE 3 SMOKEY MOUNTAIN should be a lovely dirt horse for new trainer Peter Bamford. Finished third behind Sinful Living fresh over 1000m and then went to a Saturday Westspeed Platinum when sitting three deep throughout and fighting on into sixth. Straight to the top for Amy Jo Hayes and if he runs out the 1200m he’ll be hard to get past. ROEY CLAM comes back to 1200m at his 11th run of the preparation but he thrives on the back-up and he loves racing on the dirt. TALKING HEADS has his first start for Chris Gilbert and should be a handy acquisition. WHIM CREEK won by 7.6L at Leonora in 2022. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SMOKEY MOUNTAIN WIN RACE 4 BITOVEMU is a 9-year-old grey mare who continues to go super in her later years. In 2023 she went first-up into Leonora when finishing second and then backed up off 7 days and won at Leinster. This time around she’s mid-prep and she goes very well on the freshen (winner off 47 days, placed off 53 days. Good set up for her. STAY WEALTHY joins Rickie Brown’s team and if they use his pace then he could be a sneaky. SAMBAZA is racing well below her 2023 form that saw her win 3 on the bounce at Carnarvon. REACTION next best. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – BITOVEMU WIN RACE 5 LAUTRE finished second to Gambler’s Gold in the Carnarvon Cup, second to Kentucky Blue in the Mt Magnet Cup and then last weekend wasn’t disgraced on the grass beaten 4L behind Ryewood and Zaza Rock. Back to the dirt, off 7 days and deserves to win one of these. IMA WILD GIRL has found a few lengths since joining Peter Bamford and looks hard to beat here if she handles the surface. Straight to the top for Amy Jo Hayes and dictates to them. SOLDIERS CAMP was stiff on Hannans Day. GOT LUCKY won at Leonora, Leinster and Laverton in consecutive weeks in 2023. Keep safe. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LAUTRE WIN Quaddie (Race 2 – 5) 1,2 2,3,5 2,3 1,2,3,5,7 Market Market
