Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 23, 2026April 23, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROYAL GUARDIAN finished off into second behind Buon Amici in a race where they stopped the clock 5L faster than maiden average. They rolled along and nothing ever looked a chance of running down the leader, but both ROYAL GUARDIAN and MAD SPITFIRE did a good job to close the gaps late. Happy to follow that as the premier form reference and lock them in first and second in the opener. MAD SPITFIRE similarly was only second-up and there was some money around for him in late betting too ($10 into $8.50). Continues to improve. PRINCE OF BONDI ran second to Saturday Sesh in a Westspeed Platinum 1400 over the Traditional Annual Race Round and finished second in the barrier trial to 70+ type Pearly Nugget. Can win. DEEPLY ROOTED was the target of big money last start but simply got too far out of his ground. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROYAL GUARDIAN WIN RACE 2 MOJO MIO made his debut at Northam as a $5 chance and finished 3L behind Think Pink Daze, Just Walter John and Ripper Rupert. That’s clearly his best run of his career and this time around he resumes off a 40m jump out win at Belmont. Hard to tip into him with great confidence but if there’s money around for him it might just pay to be on the bandwagon. GODS WRATH is having his 11th run of the campaign and continues to knock on the door. He was there with 100m to go last time out and just faded late. Back to 1100m, riding the speed, he’ll again be thereabouts. JOYHOUSE ROCK finished third behind Pearly Nugget and Prince of Bondi in the trial. Can see how Prince of Bondi goes in the opener. JEKYLL ISLAND ran some cheeky races last prep. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – MOJO MIO WIN RACE 3 STYLIN’ was sent out a $3 favourite off a 7 week freshen at the most recent Kalgoorlie meeting and didn’t let punters down with a dominant near 2L win. She’s now 2 from 5 and looks to have a bit more fire power and upside than her rivals. The draw is sticky for Tash Faithfull to navigate and she rises 1.5kg start to start, so wouldn’t want to be taking anything too short, but expect she’ll go close to overcoming those obstacles. NISTIRITH doesn’t run 1200m. Plain and simple. Back to 1100m here, allowed to stride by Madi Derrick, she’s a big improver. DANCEWITHME went around in a 60+ Graduation at Ascot last weekend and was only beaten 3L behind Kings Court. Far more suitable race here. SLIPPERY FISH hit a brick wall at the 200m. Improves sharply off that. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – STYLIN’ WIN RACE 4 THE SHOWVINIST really pushed sharp type Lavish Charm at his WA debut and off the back of that performance trainer Helen Harding makes a series of gear changes. Blinkers off, pre-race ears off, lugging bit off and nose roll off. She also steps him into 70+ company and gets 5.5kg in weight relief. Think he’ll measure up. SCIENCE DEGREE similarly gets 3.5kg off his back and finds a race where he can lead or box seat. Kicking hard into the corner at Kalgoorlie results in a lot of winners. PEARLY NUGGET found a rich vein of form at Kalgoorlie at the end of last preparation and proved herself time and time again as a weight carrier. Trialled nicely for her return. SURE THING goes gangbusters fresh and it’ll be interesting to see early whether the intention is to breeze outside the stablemate or cross. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE SHOWVINIST WIN RACE 5 MARINES CRY and CHIPILLY are more or less the same animal going head to head. MARINES CRY has led and won his last three – CHIPILLY has led and won her last two. They’re both drawn outside of speedy type Diego Dynamite so the sparks will fly early and with the slight barrier draw advantage going to side up with MARINES CRY to topple CHIPILLY, with the main leaning other than the gate being the 1200m rather then 1300/1400 that CHIPILLY might prefer. Not much between them and both capable of continuing through the grades the way they’re tracking. GIBRALTAR GOLD sits back and has last crack at them. Pads on a concern? THE LIONS GATE was a strong return to racing and he drops 4kg with the addition of Jason Li to the saddle (and riding ranks). Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MARINES CRY WIN RACE 6 SECRICITY won two races last preparation: 58+ 1400 at Geraldton and a 58+ 1400 at Esperance. This is her grade, this is her distance and while she’s a bit of an unknown fresh in the preparation it looks a race with relatively weak speed and that should allow her to find her feet early and make a run at them late. This looks an eachway the field job? HIGH PRECISION really caught the eye first-up when flooding home into second behind Chipilly. Still showing plenty of zest for racing as an 8yo mare. MONTY ZOOMER was first-up, no trial at 1200m racing outside the handicap when third to Just Famous and Science Degree. This is a far more suitable assignment, except for the barrier! ON JUST TERMS was legless in betting first-up no trial and ran accordingly. She’s 10L better than that! Numbers: 5 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – SECRICITY EACHWAY RACE 7 BUON AMICI really appreciated being allowed to find the fence and roll. He has now led against the inside rail twice in his life: second to Deltason in a 3 year old 0MWLY and last start when dominating maiden rivals and going quicker than the C2 which was won by Just Sublime same track, same distance, same day. That should put him in good stead to take the step into C2 racing and looks on paper like he’ll get across if ridden aggressively early. JUST SUBLIME was well supported in betting and was a comfortable watch in the end. Both of her wins are second-up in a prep and now hopefully this time around she can hold form and go on with it. BONDIS SON continues to run honest races and with many of the fancies drawn wide/awkward he looks to get his chance. GUARD THE MOOLAH broke his maiden from near last at Esperance. Now being ridden for speed and still racing well. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – BUON AMICI WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,6,7,9 1,5 4,5,6,7 1,4,5,11,12 Market Market
