Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on March 3, 2022March 5, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MOUNTAIN ASH looks to have turned a corner in the last few starts. Took a long, long while to break his maiden status and became a bit of a polarising galloper on the Midwest circuit. Since breaking through he has run second on two occasions and his most recent second behind the talented 3 year old Corn Cob reads up as strong form for this. Start prior split Colour Me Quick and Ascot 1000 Guineas winner Constant Dreaming. Should be hard to beat here. BUSH ICON really got going late at her most recent. Nice race for her and looks the danger. UNCANNY TIMING is a hard horse to catch but gets it soft along the fence. BURN ONE DOWN an improver. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 -3 Suggested Bet: MOUNTAIN ASH WIN RACE 2 OUR INSIDER was specked at odds last start. Was $41 into $19 late in betting and lead them running at 1100m. Punctured late but that was a 58+ and this is a C2. Last time he was in this grade he was beaten only 1L by Chix Chatter, Corn Cob and Be Seated. All that form measures up. Looks a live chance in a thin race. BELLE OF THE NIGHT hasn’t been seen for 37 days since joining the yard of Sean Rains. If she reproduces her maiden run she’ll go close again. OLIVIA KNOWS comes back in trip after being tested over further. Going well. FANDAZZLE produced a few nice runs early in her last campaign. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – OUR INSIDER WIN RACE 3 SAVAGE ONE resumes for the powerful Adam Durrant yard and he gives stable apprentice Victoria Cover another wonderful ride. Last campaign finished third in a C3 at Northam behind Alien From Mars and Strike before winning back to back races at Geraldton in C2 and 58+ Grade. Well placed and goes good. MINUS LOOKS drops in grade after finishing only 1.75L off Startrade last start. Geraldton form doesn’t get better than Startrade. SUN POWER is a gun fresh and drops 4.5kg to 55.5 after his most recent outing. Barry Newnham is astute and he makes a lot of gear changes. RUN FOR MONEY can kick through and hold a nice spot. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SAVAGE ONE WIN RACE 4 BRISANCE only had the one start at Northam when going round at 100-1 for a previous trainer. Finsihed 6L off Mrs America, Warpipes and Chang Man but that form doesn’t read up too badly for a Geraldton maiden. Won a recent Geraldton trial when leading throughout and punters who follow the region will know that Adrian Tiver does a super job with his small team (I mean he won a race with Surveillance. Yes Surveillance.) Worth a spec. ASK AN ANGEL has no real numerical form to speak of. But having watched the trial at Geraldton live, she looked ready to roll and won in a canter. LEAD GUITAR has been a maiden for a long while but she won’t get many better opportunities than this. HERO OF THE DAWN is clearly not as good as the market seems to think. Blinkers on might sharpen him. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – BRISANCE WIN RACE 5 DANI BELLA looks really well placed into this race by George Dupre. Drops half a kilo after the Taj Dyson claim and comes into this with consistent and solid C5 and metro form lines. In a 66+ (Pearl Classic) was only 5.5L off Lipstick Flickers, Wine Night and Karli’s Karma and then most recently finished 3L off Jadavi, Sea Waif and Kick A Goal Son. Provided she isn’t hounded in running by Ulusaba she should skip away from them on the corner. Think she’ll be popular, shop early. SIGNIFICANT HERO seems to go best fresh. Clearly the danger but concedes a head start to Dani Bella. DJANGO DREAM hasn’t been seen for 7 weeks and might need the run. ULUSABA was allowed to roll last start but popped badly to run last. Do they try the tactics again? Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DANI BELLA WIN RACE 6 CORN COB has had a long initial preparation but showed just how much X-Factor he has because he bounced back well last start and looked really comfortable in front. Tash Faithfull stick, drops 1kg and is showing versatility. Like him as a horse and provided he hasn’t trained off should go well again. DASHING IMAGE broke a long, long run of outs last start. Back to some form and gets some confidence now. CHOICE COMMAND was far too good two starts ago. Reproduces that run and he’s very much in the mix. FOXHOOD raced below his best last start but did a lot of work. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN RACE 7 GINGER SENORITA heads up to Geraldton for Annie King and after the claim of Taj Dyson looks particularly well placed. Can come across and take up a forward position and all the metro and provincial class form looks stronger than the Country Class 1 animals. BE SEATED is flying and really knocking on the door. From the gate should get every chance and deserves to break through after a consistent run of placings. SURVEILLANCE didn’t just win last start he demolished them. Took a long time but maybe he’s turned a corner? This run will tell. GRACIEBIRD has a few gear changes for her second run in WA. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – GINGER SENORITA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,6,8,9 1,3 1,2,3,4,6 1,2,6 Market Market
