Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 31, 2021December 31, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 COLOUR ME QUICK has been knocking on the door the entire Geraldton season. Three starts ago was only nabbed by King Kashoo on the post (beating home Take Another Look) and then last start split Take Another Look and Mountain Ash. In between ran into progressive mare Dark Peak. All the form stacks up and she looks to have found her race. SURVEILLANCE is one of the highest earning maidens in the State but he is also showing no real change of pace. No doubt Rosie Mahony would love to lead but don’t think she crosses Colour Me Quick. Should turn into a race dominated from the front. NIPPA WHISKEY can improve from the box seat. BLUE RADAR worked home ok on debut. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – COLOUR ME QUICK WIN RACE 2 MOUNTAIN ASH joins the stables of Gordon Spowart and he would have had the option of taking him to the 1100m maiden or the 1400m maiden. He elects to come back in trip to the sprint and put a set of blinkers on. Not a deep field and gets his chance to break through. PERT REMARKS joins the yard of Graeme Hammarquist after two starts for Sean & Jake Casey. Trialled last Monday week at Belmont and finished third behind Rommels Jeuney and Via Monte. The trial form reads up well now with Via Monte winning at Belmont. YES MISS JANE makes her debut for Rhona Macphilomey. Liked the recent trial behind Our Insider (a winner) and like the way she took the gap between horses. FRENCH RHAPSODY was in the same trial and was never asked to be competitive. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – MOUNTAIN ASH WIN RACE 3 STARTRADE has been given a 60 day let up by Kim Anderson. Expect that the freshen up was so that he could be aimed up at the upcoming Batavia Sprint in January and in time think he will measure up in town. Gone to a new level this campaign and if he holds form, he’ll be hard to beat. Hind Pad going on a minor red flag. QUALITY FAIR would have loved if this was 1300 or 1400 but he’s now rock hard fit and he rarely runs a bad race. Think he’ll run for Rosie Mahony. RECHARGER was eye catching first-up in the metro area. Keep safe. WILDONBROOK improves into her campaigns. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN RACE 4 THE SINGING TIGER is having his third start for Gordon Spowart and with blinkers going back on looks to have found a suitable race to break through. Finished third behind Three Sessions and Admiral Husson two starts ago and then sat in the breeze and couldn’t match it with Admiral Husson in the home straight last start. Blinkers back on, Troy Turner sticks. Time is right. CORN COB won well on debut and looks a handy Class horse for Geraldton. CHOIX DE LACE comes up with Surveillance. On the fresh side is sure to jump and run. CARELESSLY a smoky first-up, no trial back on the grass. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE SINGING TIGER WIN RACE 5 THREE SESSIONS is ready to go to town but Barry Newnham is playing the patience game with him and ticking him along in the Midwest and taking him through the grades. Has won his last two in blistering time and all the form around and through him is holding up. Comes up in grade but meets a lot of horses who have been stuck in this grade for a long while. Should again lead or breeze and be too strong. Keep following. ADMIRAL HUSSON was no match for him two starts ago and meets him 0.5kg worse at the weights. Kevin Backshall has him flying. DELAGO DEHERO can park behind them and will keep coming. OUR INSIDER makes his debut for Ken Nightingale and looked good in his recent trial. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – THREE SESSIONS WIN RACE 6 DARK PEAK was thrown in the deep end last start from a maiden straight into a 58+ and was far from disgraced, in fact she was an eyecatcher into fourth. Would have loved if she went to the C2 like they had chosen for her on the abandoned public holiday Monday but still think she can measure up here. Looks a progressive mare. PAGANI is a model of consistency. She is never far from the action and the claim helps. HIGHEST REGARD will work across into a prominent spot and keep kicking. TAKE ANOTHER LOOK has been huge at her last two. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – DARK PEAK WIN RACE 7 BLACK MONEY can stay and that’s his biggest asset. Jordan Turner and Graeme Hammarquist will be hoping that between the likes of Interstate and Marxian they roll along throughout and ensure it’s a genuinely run 2100m. If it turns into last man standing he’ll be doing his best work late. Emerging staying type. STRONG HEART went back to a 1400m race last start to keep ticking over. Wasn’t a lot on the program for him and no doubt has been targeted at this race. MARXIAN is building quickly into the campaign. He will look to get into a rhythm a fair way out. INTERSTATE won well at Geraldton two starts back. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLACK MONEY WIN RACE 8 ROYAL WHISPER should get the run of the race for Austin Galati. Like the way he has been riding on the grass recently and looks a fairly trustworthy young 2/3kg claiming apprentice now. Has the right form, gets the right run and this is winnable. IM A BUSH CHOOK was huge last start. Once they balanced up there was only going to be one winner. WINGSONMYFEET comes back sharply in trip but if she can work to the breeze she’ll keep whacking away. SLY AS A FOX is back in form and never far from the winner. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – ROYAL WHISPER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3 1,3,10 1,2,3,4,9,10 1,5,6,8 Market Market
