Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on January 17, 2025January 17, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I HAD A DREAM finished second to Marybee (since C1 placed) and then second to Dubai’s Daughter (since a C1 winner) when beating home key rival Favaios last time out. This looks a great chance for him to break through a birthday boy Josh Brown will be hoping to celebrate his 35th in style. FAVAIOS looms as the logical danger off that run behind Dubai’s Daughter. FLINDERS LANE nearly pinched a maiden at Belmont Park not that long ago. Must be respected. MISSALOT a big watch, especially if there’s market support. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – I HAD A DREAM WIN RACE 2 SUGARED UP went too hard out in front last start and faded noticeably late. The prior effort was solid and think that maybe the drop from 1600 back to 1300m could be in her favour. This is a weak race and she really does get her opportunity. MANGANUI is a long time maiden but won’t get many better chances than this. TANKSFORTHEMEMORY hasn’t fired a shot since the highly impressive Esperance debut run. RUM’N’GINGER ran well fresh. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SUGARED UP WIN RACE 3 ELITE FIGHTER has been a regular in this preview since the Esperance season started. He won back to back races in dominant fashion before getting a mile (pardon the pun) out of his ground last time out and left himself way too much to do. Doesn’t need to get that far back here and if he holds form then expecting him to come through victorious. NORTHERN IVY is always about the place and can carry the weight. CRUNCHY NUT won well two back. FLOPPY should be nearly ready. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ELTIE FIGHTER WIN RACE 4 BLUE CAN TALK was attacked two back when left a sitting duck for Westernize and then looked a shade disappointing last start when leading and run down by Hilton and Dawn Amnesty, however, with the Chanel Cooper claim she gets in with only 55kg and is deserving of another chance. LUCKY SUE has turned a corner. She hardly beat a runner home at Kal, she’s a different mare in Esperance. BUSTERS FREE a watch for the new trainer. PEARLY NUGGET should be a very nice country horse. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – BLUE CAN TALK WIN RACE 5 DUBAI’S DAUGHTER is flying. She won her maiden with an heir of arrogance and then backed it up by toppling the well regarded stablemate and cult hero in the Bay of Isles Bullet Sniper’s Son. Expecting her to go on her merry way. Looks an odds on pop all day long. MARYBEE took the step out of maiden company well. WITCH STREET is better suited drawing low and being ridden for luck. LADY DUCATI may just want further than 1200m. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – DUBAI’S DAUGHTER WIN RACE 6 DEBONNAIRE was always going to be vulnerable first-up at 1100m but thought he came through quite well all things considered. Was held up at crucial stages and didn’t have much momentum and was just starting to wind up when the race was all over. 1200m still on the short side for him, but he’s the class runner. FALSE STATEMENT is really well suited to Esperance’s get back, run on out wide type racing. HILTON is back. BIRD’S THE WORD is well placed. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DEBONNAIRE WIN RACE 7 MINOR DETAIL ran second to Passion For War last start over 1990m in a race where they annihilated the clock. They’ve gone nearly 10L faster than C2 average and it turned into a war of attrition late. He’s fit, he’s tough and Alex Hearn can ride him aggressively coming back to 1600m. Nice race for him. PRIZED JEWEL dominated in her maiden and can go on with it. WEST COAST WARRIOR hasn’t put a foot wrong since joining Gary Burger. THE ROOSTER is starting to build towards another win. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MINOR DETAIL EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,6 1 1,2,3,4 1,2,5,7,11 Market Market
