Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 12, 2024December 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLUE CAN TALK returns to Esperance where all three of her wins are. Last seen in the $100,000 Regional Series Final at Ascot and was only 3L off Sure No Something, Invincible Power and Secret Attire. This looks a great race for her to lead and win. DAWN AMNESTY won well first-up and then wasn’t disgraced last Friday behind Cocoon Bay and Mungo Jerry. WESTERNIZE sneaks back nicely into a more suitable 58+. SEMIGEL hasn’t won a race in a long while but was consistent around Pinjarra in May. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLUE CAN TALK WIN RACE 2 MARYBEE finished second to Playball in a Bunbury maiden on three starts ago and was honest in most of her efforts last campaign for Brandon & Lucy Fiore. First-up, no trial, to a country maiden looks the right set up for her. CLASSIC CODE hasn’t raced since March 2023 but finished second in a recent (visionless) trial and Gary Burger trains. That’s enough to be respected. JET POWER wasn’t too bad in the strong rating Cohens Song maiden. I HAD A DREAM almost pinched a maiden at Kalgoorlie when first joining Josh Brown. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MARYBEE WIN RACE 3 DANDYS GEM had her first start at Esperance last Friday and was beaten just under 1.5L behind West Coast Warrior. Didn’t get the most flowing run in the home straight and at her second run for the new stable Alex Hearn jumps on. Like that booking and think she can pinch this. PRIZED JEWEL tried hard behind Cohens Song, it’s just the rapid rise to 1600m that could be an issue. MANGANUI is along time maiden but ran well in the same race as Dandy’s Gem and has Tash Faithfull on. EVERLASTING SPIRIT is going well. Numbers: 11 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – DANDYS GEM WIN RACE 4 CRUNCHY NUT was miles below his best first-up over 1200m when beaten out of sight, but last meeting was a sharp improved to finish 3L adrift of in form Elite Fighter, Annihilator and key rival Passion Prince. Tash Faithfull back on, drawn to sit close handy and strikes a field without a whole lot of depth. PASSION PRINCE ran well at his first outing for Paul Tapper and that looks the right form line. SO LIKEABLE an improver back in grade. HUGHBERT is better than what he produced fresh. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – CRUNCHY NUT WIN RACE 5 MUNGO JERRY was unable to fend off the challenge of Cocoon Bay last start and actually now meets her 1kg worse at the weights with the senior rider going on, however, he was dictated towards the inside running rail and that’s worth more than the negative weight swing most of the time. Ready to win one. COCOON BAY has plenty more in store for her and can measure up at 70+ level. I AM SPARTACUS is a long time servant of the Esperance Bay Turf Club and was excellent first-up. KALLAROO is not easy to catch but this is a nice race for him. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MUNGO JERRY WIN RACE 6 THE LIONS GATE and PARADISE STAR both come through the C2 1100 which was won by Lucky Sue and thinking that considering he was 34 days between runs that THE LIONS GATE gets a great opportunity to open his winning account in Western Australia. PARADISE STAR is rarely far from the winner but does have a tough draw to navigate. Still the logical danger. PURE QUALITY was a few lengths behind them last start but is still improving. WITCH STREET can sprint well fresh and is a watch for Rob Payton. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet – THE LIONS GATE WIN RACE 7 THE ROOSTER had four starts for Justine Erkelens in Perth and won a C1 1600 only two starts back and then went to a C3 1800 and was second, splitting Fioreyes and Famous Dain. Comes into it 39 days between runs on the fresh side for a new trainer and is the kind of horse who can park three deep and wind up into it. WEST COAST WARRIOR landed big bets at his return to racing when $6.50 into $3.50. This is harder but Gary Burger has a loyal following so expect money again. MY BOY EDDY is back in grade and has shades on. FRIAR THE GUN was solid first-up. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – THE ROOSTER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,4 1,2,4,5 3,6,7,13 1,2,3 Market Market
