Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on February 1, 2024February 1, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRUE CHANCE is testing the patience but really knocking on the door. Got to the line powerfully two back behind Pure Quality beating home subsequent winner Paradise Star and then last start was forced right back towards the cutaway zone (no go zone) when again making ground. Gets out to a mile and looks ready to win one. YAKYAK and OAKWOOD finished second and third respectively last week behind Passion For War. Both back up and both are racing consistently well. SMOKEY BAY brings alternate form. Race fit, proven beyond a mile and can park up over the speed. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRUE CHANCE WIN RACE 2 DARE ME has now had four starts in Esperance and finished second on three of four occasions. Second to Lost Smile, third to Jericho’s Echo (subsequent winner), second to Blue Can Talk (beating home subsequent winners Stolen Valour and Small Town Ruby) and second to Paradise Star. By natural attrition of opposition surely there’s a race for her soon. REBEL SQUAW joins the stables of Josh Brown and her form in the merro area has to be respected. Beaten big margins but by horses with 10L on these. GOD’S WRATH went hard first-up and faded badly late. PERT REMARKS was backed hard again last week. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – DARE ME WIN RACE 3 BONDI BUBBLES just keeps winning. He’s now put five in a line together and made his way from a maiden into Open Class all in one preparation. He’s going to take out horse of the year (surely uncatchable?) and David Harrison looks like going leading trainer (waits for abusive text from Josh Brown). This is another big step up for him but he drops 4.5kg and the way he’s going he looks like he’ll measure up. HILTON has been a model of consistentcy since heading down to Esperance with Nicholas Thomas. Proven beyond 1100m but it seems no worries for him at the minute. WESTERNIZE is a sharp country sprinter when he’s on. Does mix his form but when he’s on, he’s on. BOOZEROO has had a great season in Esperance. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – BONDI BUBBLES WIN RACE 4 DAWN AMNESTY and BEAUTY IN ME finished second and third respectively behind Cousin Nicci last start in a C2 1200. Going to follow that as the preimuer form reference in the race and thinking that with a 2.5kg weight swing that BEAUTY IN ME can turn the tables and win at her second outing in the region. DAWN AMNESTY has been knocking on the door all preparation and deserves to win one. BELLES FANTASY was jumping out of the ground late last week. Big watch. CHIPOLARIE looked like she probably needed the run last week. She lead them, she kicked on straightening and she held them until the last 200m. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – BEAUTY IN ME WIN RACE 5 TALK SOFTLY is just a different horse this preparation. Won a pair of C2 1100m races to start the campaign and then had a mid-prep interruption when missing a run on Boxing Day and again on January 5th. Went into last start 6 weeks between outings and into a C5 for the first time but it didn’t stop punters launching him from $3.20 into $1.90 when winning by over 2L. 1100 to 1400m is the only query. HABIB showed two starts ago that he was back to his best and franked it last week by winning impressively. COUNTER DRIVE is more than capable at this level. Keep safe fresh. MY BOY EDDY once promised to win races on a Saturday at Ascot / Belmont. Hopefully Esperance can see his best. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – TALK SOFTLY WIN RACE 6 GAMBLERS GOLD got the job done impressively last start. Rises up to a mile for the first time in his campaign but he also drop 2kg off his last start win and maps to get a near identical run in transit for Kyra Yuill. Looks three main players in this race and he’s as good a chance as the other two. ALBERT will again be on a jump and run mission. He dropped off Northern Ivy impressively last week and never looked like being run down up the home straight. IRRITABLE RODNEE was set a task last start with the big weight. Back to a mile – tick, down 3.5kg – tick. WHEATSTACK THIEF is back to his best. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – GAMBLERS GOLD WIN RACE 7 UNCOMPROMISED got his deserved victory last start in a C2 1600. He rises 1.5kg from that victory but there’s no Vevinsky (subsequent winner), there’s no Habib (subsequent winner) and there’s no Who By Fire in this event. He’s rock hard fit, he’s consistently there abouts and he’s beaten many of his rivals home in recent starts. Hard to hold out the way he’s going. BRIGHID hasn’t had any luck at all since arriving in Esperance and yet has put together three excellent runs and now drops back in grade. Danger. PASSION FOR WAR and SMALL TOWN RUBY are both last start winners who look like they’ll measure up. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – UNCOMPROMISED WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,5,7,8,9,11 1,5,9 2,3,4 1,3 Market Market
