Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on February 11, 2021February 11, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WATTOS REWARD really caught the eye late last start suggesting that the step up in trip is suitable. With the inside draw and a 2kg drop in weight with Keshaw Dhurun riding for Freddo Brown she gets her chance. DEVALERA PARK has been knocking on the door all preparation and is closing in on a maiden win. DAWN ENIGMA is a bit of an Enigma. Always trialled like a star but yet to fully put it together on race day. KENDEL’S IMPACT is a career maiden but is going well since joining Helen Harding. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – WATTOS REWARD WIN RACE 2 COMPETITOR has a clear ratings edge on rivals with his East Coast form. Fourth in a 1400m Sale maiden, second in a Tatura mile maiden, third in a Benalla 1600m maiden and then two solid efforts over a staying trip. All runs to date have been in stronger maiden class, all runs to date have been on rain affected going and now joins the yard of MR Peter Fernie. Looks like making a winning WA debut on exposed form. JOLLYL ACE is going well enough to figure and Ryan Hill is riding Esperance brilliantly. ATLANTIC RULER was scratched from a metro maiden to save for this. LIQUIDITY ran very well at first start for Fiona Scott. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – COMPETITOR WIN RACE 3 DEEL RED and STAIRWAYTOTHEMOON come from a lower class of race than Heaven’s Gate and #Baz but they both drop a stack of weight and retain senior riders. DEEL RED did all the work in that race chasing a hot tempo with 60kg and never gave up the chase. Should lead on his ear and give them something to run down. STAIRWAYTOTHEMOON really appreciated a step up in trip and a genuinely run race last start. HEAVEN’S GATE is well placed after the claim for Angela Johnston. Is drawn the outside gate in the small field which isn’t easy to navigate but if Johnston can give him an economical run in transit then he looks hard to hold out. BARRY’S RABBIT is ready to win and gets weight relief with Keshaw Dhurun going on. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEEL RED WIN RACE 4 ABOARD was plunged in betting last start and ran out of her skin. Comes from a 58+ race run 4L faster than average behind talented staying types Stairwaytothemoon and Deel Red back into a C2. Drawn a gate, claim to keep her weight down, second attempt at the trip. She looks a great betting proposition. PRINCE HAL doesn’t win out of turn but has been building into the prep. HUSSTARR has come back well but has 60kg at 2000m off 6 weeks. COCKY ED can lead and give cheek. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – ABOARD WIN RACE 5 BALLADEER is a new horse under the care of Neil Dellar. His entire yard is firing at the minute and the way he is going he can get past these 68+ opponents on the minimum. Drawn to get a soft run and like we saw with Arsinoe earlier in the season, the emerging types can match it quickly with the seasoned 68+ older horses. ARSINOE has been a revelation this preparation and hasn’t put a foot wrong all campaign. Hard to knock her. HELMS GATE is always a winning chance in this grade. BARAKI BEATS brings intrigue. Getting back down in the ratings and more than capable of winning this. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BALLADEER WIN RACE 6 WHIM CREEK much like stablemate Balladeer (and even King’s Authority…wow.) is going through the grades quickly. Ryan Hill sticks, drawn to box seat with the cutaway in play and meets a substantially similar field to what he has been beating up on in recent meets. Looks like an odds on pop. ABBYLANE was bitterly disappointing last start. Loomed into it and gave 0. He’s almost sack file. ANY GIVEN TIME ran out of his skin last start and is tracking along well. TEMPLE MAN has covered some kilometres in the last week but if he backs up can flash late. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – WHIM CREEK WIN RACE 7 PIRATES MISTRESS looked to have found his race last start and was only found out late in the race. Steps to 1600m, gets another 1.5kg weight relief with emerging apprentice Holly Watson going on and gets another chance. ROYAL SOLDIER is freshened, a month between runs, and has a really tough gate to overcome but this progressive and lightly raced four year old does look to have his fair share of ability. Going well but just needs an ounce of luck. BLACK COMET is hard to beat again, great return fresh. SOUND OF FURY dropping back in trip brings intrigue. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – PIRATES MISTRESS EACHWAY RACE 8 SCENE TO SIN is flying this preparation and clearly in career best form. Big day on paper for Keshaw Dhurun and this looks another big winning chance. Drops in weight, draws a gate and has been savaging the line without much luck. NEUROLOGIC has been an improving filly since joining Peter Fernie down in Esperance. Good effort in third last start and you would imagine that Peter Hall will ride her for speed with the blinker (singular) going on. If she gets across she’s hard to beat. SKETCH LINE is going really well for Cliff Smith and draws a gate to get a soft run. FOXY DREAMER has had a brilliant start to her preparation. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 13 – 5 Suggested Bet – SCENE TO SIN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,5,6 2 1,3,4,7,8,12 4,5,6,7,10,11,12,13 Market Market
