Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 9, 2023June 9, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GORGEOUS GUS is the first runner of the season for the travelling Sean & Jake Casey team. This time last year he had five runs in Broome – first-up winner, C2 1100, second-up winner C2 1000 and then at the end of the preparation finished third in the Pearl Classic. Expecting him to be ridden with aggression from the inside gate given they didn’t make an inch of ground in any race last Saturday. ORNAMENTAL BELLE and PRINCE SAIYAN locked horns from a long way out in a two horse war on opening day. There’s clearly not much between them. KENNEDY can come on quickly. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – GORGEOUS GUS WIN RACE 2 MORDOR finds another new home. He had a great career with Zach Tyler in Carnarvon as a free rolling front running type on the dirt and then was given a few starts in the Perth metro area for Ryan Hill racing. Lands with Sean & Jake Casey and finds a race where he can jump and run and lead them. It was near impossible to win from further back than second last Saturday at the opening meeting and that makes him an attractive proposition here. Jump and run. DASHING IMAGE chased really hard and is the kind of horse who will keep coming under pressure. He’s got a few more wins in him. POWERFUL has 62kg but is the class runner. SILKINIZE didn’t jump and then copped the wrath of the kick-back last Saturday. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MORDOR WIN RACE 3 LO LO LONHRO had his first start for Darryn Pateman last Saturday and his first start on the dirt. He travelled really well in the conditions and showed a lot more speed than anticipated to breeze outside of leader and eventual winner Ain’t I A Woman. He can kick through to lead here if he shows the same gate speed and takes running down. FROST DAVID heads North after showing enough on the grass previously. First-up last preparation went to the races at Belmont when third behind Arcadia star and Madame Pro. Just needs to step. HERE NO CASH is a former high price yearling ($220,000) who joins the Dan/Luke Morton operation. Draw could be a blessing to stay out of trouble. SMART VISION was huge last week. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – LO LO LONHRO WIN RACE 4 WUHAN WARRIOR has shades going back on, has Simone Altieri booked to ride and attacks this first-up no trial. Some of his short course efforts early last campaign read up very well for this: fourth behind My Dilemma, Samaria and Saturn Black (finishing ahead of Halatorion, Mega Reward and No Dice) in a C3 at Belmont, third behind Galaxy Cat and Invisible String in a C3 1000 and third behind Work In Progress and Beach West in a C1 1000. Jump and run. RAPIDERN broke maiden status when breaking the field open in the middle stages. Imagine they’ll also be looking to go fast. DEMERITS PRIDE probably wants further than 1100. SO BIRIKKINO is another who can go quick. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – WUHAN WARRIOR WIN RACE 5 CIRCUS STAR broke maiden status at Ascot over 1400m and then went straight to a C3 1400 when finishing 2L off Vitalize, Galaxy Affair and Market Stryke. If it’s mad leaders like it was 7 days ago then he’ll need to jump cleanly and muster quickly to ensure he doesn’t get too far back over the 1200. MISS EUGEN joins Dan/Luke Morton and she should have won a lot more races than just the one. Looks a really nice acquisition. SEND IT SON can hold a position and ran well fresh. CHILLI BEAN just doesn’t finish off his races. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – CIRCUS STAR WIN RACE 6 ANTONINA showed a lot more gate speed last week and ran really well. That was a 58+ 1300 and now she drops back into a C2 1435m. In a race where there is not a great amount of early dash and a few horses who are looking for a fair bit further than this she looks to get her chance to lead and win. FINAL PLAN should be a handy C2 animal for the region but the inside gate can be difficult at your first dirt outing. GLACIER MISS improves for the dirt experience. FREQUENT FRIAR likely needs further but can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – ANTONINA WIN RACE 7 BART’S BULLET had a long season on the dirt last year. He won a C2 1435m and then placed on three occasions in 58+ grade before winning a 64+ 1600 towards the end of the season. He’s had a couple of grounding runs on the grass at Narrogin and York and should be ready to peak third-up onto his seemingly preferred surface. Phillip Crich an added bonus and look for him to kick through and lead from the inside draw. ROGUES POINT destroyed very moderate opposition last week. This is 3 or 4L tougher but it’s hard to ignore how easily he won. HOOLAHOOPS was excellent at 1000m last Saturday. MARZIPAN LAD is drawn out but can work across the face of the field to look for a position. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – BART’S BULLET EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,6 1,3,4 4,7,8 2,4,6,7,10 Market Market
