Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on June 28, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SPECIAL REWARD has put on a galloping exhibition at both career starts and looks as though punters will get close to black figures. Anything over about $1.60 does look reasonable shopping for those so inclined. ARNIE’S BOY is still a maiden but is getting better at every run. KELLY’S CALLISTO gets weight relief care of the apprentice rider but with juveniles that is not always the positive it looks on face value. LOCKLEAR will go around at cricket score odds but could improve. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL REWARD WIN Race 2 DANNY GEORGE looked like he had a fair bit of improvement left in the tank from his first run without a trial. Stable is flying and he looks a promising and progressive type. THUNDERSTRUT was a big run last start but is drawn very awkwardly in gate 7. May need to go back. STREET FURY is a quality filly resuming and her trial suggests she is ready to roll. CLASSIC CHANT leads and finding the rail should help her. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – DANNY GEORGE WIN Race 3 DISRUPTIVE belted similar opposition last weekend and if Tayla Stone can cross to lead he will take some catching. If he lobs outside Rockon Tommy then he will do it tougher but looks capable. ROCKON TOMMY was afforded no luck last weekend and drawing gate 1 is capable of leading up this field. Otherwise ends up on the back of the one to beat. PADDY’S SHADOW returned enormous when being nailed on the post by Arcadia Prince. She’ll get back but charge late. SUPERIOR SMILE box seats from the gun draw and can figure in the finish. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – DISRUPTIVE WIN Race 4 VITAL SILVER will probably be left to lead this event after the important scratching of Forty Four Red. Tayla Stone has the choice of leading or handing up and taking the trail. His last start flop was uncharacteristic. ATLANTA BLUE must lump a big weight but is the class runner in the field and his last two have been good. AWAKEN trialed nicely for her return from a long injury enforced lay off but was poor. Blinkers added, she should improve. SHARPBOB maps to lead or sit outside Vital Silver. He should be in the finish. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – VITAL SILVER WIN Race 5 ONE SHORT was heavily commissioned last start when winning. He maps to get a near identical run to what he enjoyed last start and there is no reason why he can’t go back to back. ABDICATOR trialed well even though running last at Lark Hill. Blinkers go on for race day and his form is sensational. FINAL SALUTE went under first-up as favourite and will likely jump favourite again. Blinkers should sharpen him a length or two. DIABLERIE has had no luck his last few runs. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – ONE SHORT WIN Race 6 MATERIAL MAN is drawn gate 9 of 9 and that will hopefully make things a little more interesting. There is no speed in this race and Lucy Warwick may elect to let him stride and sit in the breeze. On current form holds a mortgage over the race. GATTING could be the surprise leader considering the draw and how little speed is engaged. POUNAMU will go straight back to last and is building towards another feature win. VERY TEMPTING can improve off her last run and was previously good when McGruddy was aboard. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – WATCH MATERIAL MAN WIN Race 7 SONG OF VINCENT is taking on the older horses but was caught in the wrong part of the track two starts ago and then almost knocked off a pretty nice type in Send My Love. Looks like Tayla Stone could lead without pressure. RED ARMY was big in defeat last start when spotting the leader nearly 20L at the 600 when under the whip. Question is can he settle closer here. BELLA’S IDOL continues to run huge races in defeat. He will win another very soon. GEIGER GEM is a query at the trip but should get a lovely run box seat. Numbers: 14 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SONG OF VINCENT EACHWAY Race 8 THE CRUEL SEA is cruely dealt with at the weights with a harsh country to metro dual ratings transition but even with the big weight he looks right in this. Glenn Smith is the perfect rider for him and should position close handy. MILITARY RULER looks the likely leader and from there dictates. He is getting close. TELLEM WE’RE COMIN backs up off 7 days when Pike gave him the stock standard 12/10 ride. Looks a nice middle distance type in the making. LUKE’S GOLD is going better than reads on paper but the draw ruins his winning chances. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 10 – 14 Suggested Bet – THE CRUEL SEA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,5 2 4,6,14 3,5,10 Bet Now
