Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 16, 2020July 18, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 UNIVERSAL PLEASURE has been a model of consistency since making her debut behind speedy filly Sweetassa. She then lead them up at 1200m and was only nailed in the shadows of the post by Big Man In the Sky. Last start took a sit at 1300 and was unable to reel in OTI Racing import Our Insider and What Planet You On. Back to 1000, even maiden and should be eachway in a field of 8. MOLLY MAGEE looks to have raw ability but does a lot wrong. She could lead and win or run around under pressure and hit a wall. PETITE LA FEMME was huge last start and a repeat performance sees her go close. WARBLER gets every chance from the draw at his first start for a new stable. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLEASURE EACHWAY RACE 2 WE’VE GOT DREAMS is simply a foolproof filly. She is jump and run and while this is her first outing on a rain affected track she is a daughter of Universal Ruler and his stock swim. Chris Graham is a very adept front running jockey and she’ll again take running down. BOOMTASTIC was all the rage last start and looked in a world of trouble at the top of the straight before coming again in the last 50m. Should again stalk the speed and go close. MOOD SWINGS and SHE’S ENCHANTED both come from the same race and draw far better here. Very even race and should produce a near blanket finish (again). Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – WE’VE GOT DREAMS WIN RACE 3 NOIR DE RUE is in career best form and just loves racing. Backs up off 7 days out of the Swan River Vase when running a narrow second splitting Material Man (m109) and Taxagano (m96). From the draw should be tracking Beaucount’s every move and when he goes for home at the 600 they could break the field open. SENTIMENTAL GIFT drops significantly in weight and gets the services of William Pike for the first time in the campaign. She has a stack of ability and was beaten out of the place for the first time in her life last weekend. DARK PROSPECT is going well and is a very well noted 7 day back-up horse. DIVINE SHADOW may have to settle last but they’ll march along and he can track Sentimental Gift’s every move. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – NOIR DE RUE WIN RACE 4 SNICKERDOODLEDANDY had to do all the work last start when coming across from a wide gate and breezing outside a strong tempo. Shock Result who lead them up faded noticeably in the straight and then was $21 into $10 Wednesday when nailed on the post and Snickerdoodledandy was able to hold off the challenge of She’s God To You and score. Likely to roll forward again and with a breather in running she’ll be hard to collar. CONTINUANCE has the draw to hold a position in running. Was only a tradesman like win to the eye last start but sectionally was quite impressive. Logical danger on paper. BLOW ME OUT really caught the eye on debut but is drawn a little sticky. SURVEILLANCE needs to improve on what he produced first-up but from the draw should get the opportunity too. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – SNICKERDOODLEDANDY WIN RACE 5 CHANTREA is 5 from 5 undefeated and looks the one to beat in the Belmont Classic chasing 6 straight. The boys and girls come from completely different race profiles with the boys in the Aquinita going around 15L faster than the girls in the Belmont Oaks. Chantrea had to be put into the race a long way from home due to the pedestrian tempo to the 1400 and looked under pressure at the furlong before dropping another gear. Can work her way off the fence and has the look of a progressive staying filly. MAROCCHINO could well find himself in front by default and has done nothing wrong all preparation. CAMBIST is a three time Stakes placed filly and will stay all day. HEAVEN’S GIFT should enjoy the softest of runs. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – CHANTREA WIN RACE 6 PUCKAPUNYAL went under at $1.85 last weekend after being backed off the map nationwide. Was dropping from 1400m back to 1200m, ran her race in patches and got caught flat footed at the top of the straight. Looks far better suited at a mile, backs up off 7 days, has excellent 3 year old form, drops in weight, strikes a race without any deal of tempo and for a filly who has a tendency to lay in Chris Parnham is a wonderful selection of hoop. SOWAR did it tough last start and had little luck in the home straight. Draws far better here and can hold a position midfield. TRULY GREAT was also luckless in the same race when unable to secure a clear passage in the home straight. ACONITE has a lot of weight to carry but should get a soft run with cover. Numbers: 12 – 11 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – PUCKAPUNYAL WIN RACE 7 NOT TO BE MIST will have a lot of eyes on him at Belmont on Saturday. The flashy grey has run to brilliant minor placings to start his preparation and now looks ready to peak third up at a mile. Likely to settle last in the run which always makes him vulnerable but his closing sections behind Showmanship last start are proof that he is a potential top liner. WRINKLY carries the grandstand week in, week out. Better suited here where he can lead after running a super race against his normal racing pattern last start. FRED DAG is as consistent as they come but needs everything to go his way. MIZLECKI may be at her swansong before retirement but can improve with the weight relief. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – NOT TO BE MIST WIN RACE 8 MASSIMO looks to have finally found his race on paper. Has not been a friend to most punters this preparation going under at $2.25, $2.25, $3.50, $2.40 and $2.00 but after tip toeing around him all campaign we’re going to jump aboard on Saturday. Last week he was allowed to chase a strong tempo and it took a horse of Windstorm’s talent to run him down in the shadows. Backs up off 7 days, drops to 55kg and either leads or breezes outside Majinika. Gets his chance. JERICHO MISSILE is a stakes winning 3 year old returning to the races. His trial will have opinions divided but did what he had to do. From the draw he settles midfield and enjoys a soft run. MANKIND is arguably the best wet tracker on the card but find it hard to map him anywhere but three deep. WAR GOD is racing below his best but the draw helps. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – MASSIMO WIN RACE 9 WINE NIGHT may need an ounce of luck in the early stages to find a position but if she can land one out and two back or three deep with cover then she should be hard to hold out late. Scored first-up with 60kg over Sweetassa and Amelia Bedelia before missing by a nose behind We’ve Got Dreams beating home Boomtastic, Mood Swings and She’s Enchanted. Was placed at 1200m in the Pinjarra Magic Millions and at 1500m in the Challenge Stakes last preparation. Looks the one to beat. ZEPHYR QUEEN likely stalks speed horses I’m Icey and Foo Trouble in the run. Faster they go the better for her. SECRET STATUE looks likely to appreciate the sting out of the ground. STEVIE’S WONDER trialled like Winx but needs to bring that to the races. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet – WINE NIGHT WIN RACE 10 LONG BEACH could well find himself last in the field of 14 over the 1000m but there is guaranteed to be a three wide and possibly even four wide train in this event. His turn of foot is breathtaking and punters will be banking on Pike making the right decisions in traffic. If he sees daylight he can definitely gun them down. SHINJU has trialled twice without his blinkers and both trials have been solid. Should work forward into a winnable position. DANNY GEORGE maps similarly to Long Beach but does his best work fresh and with the sting out of the ground. REBEL YELL an improver. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – LONG BEACH WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,5,6,8 3,12 6 12 Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,5 7,8 2,5,11 4,6,9 Market Market
