Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 4, 2023August 4, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GENEROSITY was huge on debut when missing away, finding traffic, doing things wrong and still charging home into an impressive third behind Home James and Shell Bell. She meets Shell Bell 3.5kg better at the weights 8 months later and has trialled up super for her return. Looks a spirited speed battle and provided she stays in touch with them in the middle stages it looks a nice kick off point for her. SHELL BELL is a fool proof jump and run filly. She’ll kick through from barrier 1 and control the race. GINNIVAN and HOT NOVA both impressed at trials but both are likely to have to work hard at stages. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – GENEROSITY WIN RACE 2 SWIM THROUGH dropped back in distance and grade last start and the punters didn’t forget to back him. Was a level of deduction but overall he was $11 into $2.80 throughout betting and he got the job done impressively. He’s now a 4-time 1000m winner and he’s a proven weight carrier. Maps to get a gun run stalking On The Full and Final Authority and should present at the right time on straightening. ON THE FULL blew the start at his most recent. Forget he went around, prior wins were strong. FINAL AUTHORITY likely parks to his outside and is going well. LITTLE STRAWBERRY is drawn really awkwardly. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SWIM THROUGH WIN RACE 3 KEEP ATTACKING had his first start for Grant & Alana Williams when four weeks between runs and thought he fought on okay after being headed early in the straight. He should have no worries rolling forward to breeze outside of Success Play and these Westspeed Platinum races are a great level for him. STRIKE NOW has had absolutely no luck back in two runs. Has ended up three back the fence in each outing and never seen daylight. Going far better than it reads on paper. FORTUNE’S LUCK is working her way through the grades impressively. PADDY’S LAD was impressive at his return. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – KEEP ATTACKING WIN RACE 4 OUTSPOKEN LAD is racing with great consistency. He finished third behind Ex Sport Man and Queen Alina two starts ago and then third behind Our Norman and Queen Alina last start. Gets 2kg on Our Norman and comes back 200m to the 2000. Think he’ll sit up over the speed again and should be going close. OUR NORMAN looks primed to attack the traditional, annual race round at Kalgoorlie this campaign and he’s hitting form at the perfect time. He sits up on speed and he’s tough as nails. CRESCENT CITY backs up off 7 days and gains the services of William Pike. He’s more than capable of running them down with the right run. THE SPRUIKER is on trial at the staying trip. Last three huge. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – OUTSPOKEN LAD WIN RACE 5 RED FIFTY THREE trialled like he was back to somewhere near his best and his first-up run from the back of the field at Pinjarra reaffirmed that opinion. Love the way he attacked the line and now drawn barrier 1 he should enjoy a far more economical run in transit. William Pike sticks and if he can return to anywhere near his early 3 year old levels then he’ll be working his way through the grades. BREAD TO FLIRT was able to gun down Becalotti last start. That already looks like excellent form with the filly winning a 3 year old 62+ last Saturday. HAMMARMILL was a solid return to racing. KING CRUZER finally put it all together last start. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – RED FIFTY THREE WIN RACE 6 KEYTRADE looks just about ready to pinch another race. His last three have been strong efforts and two starts ago thought he was brave when three deep the trip behind Galactic Storm. Gets 2kg on him, drawn far better this time around and strikes a race with very little speed. If he steps he should take up a prominent position and be there for a long way at an eachway quote. GALACTIC STORM was given a 12/10 by Brayden Gaerth last start. He’s looking for the mile now and he’s working his way through the grades nicely. RARE ENCOUNTER is versatile. Wouldn’t surprise to see her come out positive in a race lacking tempo. Big run last start. VILLEINS has returned in great order. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – KEYTRADE EACHWAY RACE 7 FIRST ENCOUNTER is an extremely exciting 4 year old. He’s won 3 from 4 and he looks like the better class of race he goes to the better he’ll go. He’s only a m72 rater currently so if they do indeed have Pinnacles aspirations with him then he’ll need to win another 3 or 4 races before having a freshen. Kind of horse you just keep following until he gives you a reason not too. AZTEC RULER was enormous last start. Nothing went right and he was one of the runs of the season into fifth. If there was no First Encounter he’d be even money. POSITION OF POWER can lead this field. Can give cheek. ZEPHYRA is a handy mare resuming. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – FIRST ENCOUNTER WIN RACE 8 MULTINATIONAL is as honest and consistent as they come. He’ll park up just behind the speed and on the 7-day back-up looms as one of many chances in an open and even race. Last time he met Buster Bash he beat him home and meets him a whopping 7.5kg better at the weights. Looks to get the right run and has race fitness on his side. ALASKAN GOD is a real X-Factor. His fresh run over 1400m in the Asian Beau saw him almost jump favourite in a Group One Railway Stakes. If he’s ready to rock and roll he’s very hard to beat. BUSTER BASH has gone to another level. His trials have been outstanding. 62kg is a serious leveller. MOOD SWINGS was a great win last week and takes luck out of his races. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MULTINATIONAL EACHWAY Same Race Multi – Multinational (Top 4) + Alaskan God (Top 4) Multinational backs up off 7 days after another honest and consistent effort. He gets down in the weights and should enjoy a soft run behind the speed. Alaskan God resumes without a barrier trial and he was once the favourite for the 2022 Railway Stakes. Wide open race and banking on both to finish Top 4. RACE 9 RIVER RUBICON trialled really nicely behind Nowhiteflag and has a commanding fresh record. 4 of his 6 wins have come either first-up or second-up and he should be able to kick through and hold a position from barrier 1. Looks a really competitive race and with even luck he’s one of many live chances. Has a big L600 and is proven on all surfaces. ALL DAY SESSION did it tough last start. Tramped three deep the trip and never gave it away. Should get cover here. SUNNY HONEY scored a deserving win last start. He’s been hitting the line hard all preparation and the David Harrison stable is on fire. COLOSSAL is running slick L600s but does leave himself a lot to do. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 7 – 14 Suggested Bet – RIVER RUBICON EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,5,6,7,9,11 4 1,3,4,9,11 2,3,6,7,10,14 Market Market
