Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 21, 2021January 25, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRISUEM was well tried in the market place last start when Chris Parnham went on and she got shuffled back through the field from her inside draw and then ended up in a really tricky position. The race was run and won from on speed and her finishing burst of speed was hard to miss when flashing at them late. Blinkers on, another weak maiden, another chance. SPRINGSURE LAD was plunged last start in a 4 horse field. Went close and looks an improving type. OCEANZARA needs speed on in her races by the looks and simply isn’t getting it. Now with the awkward draw may be vulnerable. ICARIAN next best. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – TRISUEM WIN RACE 2 HEAVENLY WATERS carried 2kg more than Sniparoochy last start when fading badly in the last 200m. Was 49 days between runs and at the Fitzpatrick meeting Roy Rogers was public in his opinion that she was underdone. Win was super in the Crystal Slipper and with shades on she can go close. BUSTER’S FORCE trialled back in October and looked a serious talent. With the early scratching of Sniparoochy he comes right into the mix. MICHELADA is a regally bred filly on debut. Very soon the Miller money will land on one of these 2yo plunges. TOPPA THE MOUNTAIN fell in last week. Interesting to see if the form holds up. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – HEAVENLY WATERS EACHWAY RACE 3 MADAM TORIO is an Ascot (and Belmont) 1000m specialist. She’s high speed and she’s simply dominant. Combined 5.8L winning margin so far at Ascot and while she has to carry 59kg here and is drawn outside of Gemma’s Son, if she can cross to the fence, she’ll again take beating. GEMMA’S SON drawn in gate 1 makes things interesting. After the claim he carries 59.5kg which is only 0.5kg more than he did in the 3yo Classic when running third behind boom filly Clairvoyance. ISEERED ISEERED was scratched from a winnable race on Wednesday to save for this. Aggressive move by LK Fernie. RED INFERNO won well last start but this is a lot tougher. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – MADAM TORIO WIN RACE 4 UNVIERSAL PLEASURE might only come from a maiden but was super impressive and looks to have returned really well this preparation. Trialled professionally at Belmont Park before running into highly promising speed mare Wilchino in a maiden and then dominated limited opposition in a Bunbury track gallop. Can lead or box seat from the draw and gets her chance in town. CITY CIRCLE also ran into Wilchino last start in this grade. Chased hard and if she can overcome the awkward draw is the logical danger. TINTO BELLE gets back and always needs luck. SIR MAMBO is well placed in this grade and always a blowout chance. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLEASURE WIN RACE 5 COMFORT ME really does look a barrier horse. Going back through his three career wins he has either lead or drawn soft gates to sit just in behind them. Travels really strongly in the run and then has a short, sharp turn of acceleration. Loomed into the race last start but peaked late. That race has already produced WA wide plunge victor Last of the Line and looks odds on to produce the winner of this race. Will have a decent head start on Cousin Ivan in running. COUSIN IVAN was arguably the run of the race behind Cryptic Love. Better than Last of the Line, better than Comfort Me. Add W.Pike, add a furlong, he’s awfully hard to hold out. WILD FUSION is low flying and Earl O’Loughlin makes the trip up the highway to chase 40k in town. SAUCY JACK should lead comfortably. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – COMFORT ME WIN RACE 6 QUEEN TAKES KING was the replay run of the race first-up at 1600m behind No Surrender. Was beaten 0.6L into fourth placing and came home significantly faster than Our Idyll who finished a nose second. Gets 0.5kg weight swing on her, draws inside of her and gains the services of Willy Pike. Everything points to her winning this race. Looks highly promising and a definite Country Cups type. OUR IDYLL doesn’t run bad races. She is versatile and can be ridden to suit track conditions. MY FAIR BALENTINE has hit form and is attacking the line. SOWAR gets weight relief and had form around Queen Takes King at Belmont over winter. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – QUEEN TAKES KING WIN RACE 7 SON OF A GOD was the talk of the town pre- and post-race in the Easingwold Stakes. Looked $1.10 to be caught three deep the trip from gate 9 when drawn outside Lorentinio, Abdicator, Harry Thomas, Dig Deep and Festival Miss. Accordingly, got the wobbles in the market and did it incredibly tough in the cheap seats. Anyone who backed him last start (shakes head) follows up and everyone who knocked him last start (nods head) jumps on the bandwagon. LORENTINIO should again find the top from gate 2 but will likely have Son of A God breathing down his neck from the 600. Unlikely to get his customary breather mid-race. LUKE’S GOLD was a tough watch last start. Suited to sitting deep and building into the race. DIG DEEP is in grand form but the weight has caught up with him and the wide gate hurts. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – SON OF A GOD WIN RACE 8 REGAL POYSE was an interesting watch in replay at Pinjarra Park. Got caught three, four and five wide in running, then actually got held up in the home straight when trying to pick a run in between horses. Looked to be travelling super across the line considering the task she was set. From the soft draw here, she is a definite blow out chance. MICKEYBLUE EYES could not have been more impressive in his WA debut. He absolutely scorched home from the back of the field in an eye catching return to racing. MASTERING didn’t accept for the Batavia Sprint and goes to this 60+. Building toward a win. TOMMY BLUE won soft last start in a weak race. Tough from the draw. Numbers: 14 – 9 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – REGAL POYSE EACHWAY RACE 9 LEICA JAGUAR has been a regular in this preview over the last two months. Neville Parnham has not missed him, backing him up more often than not but he seem to the thriving on racing and turning into a 1000m specialist. Gets significant weight relief coming up into 72+ grade and has form around many of the fancies. From the draw he again gets the right run to win. WE’VE GOT DREAMS is a gun. If she can cross from barrier 11 then it may well be lights for her opponents. Loved her recent trials and she has plenty more wins in her. CAPTAIN KINK is a talented 4 year old resuming. Has super 3 year old form to his name and looks like going through the grades. NIGHT VOYAGE always a chance over the 1000. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – LEICA JAGUAR EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4 5 1,2,3,6,8,9,14 1,3,5,6,7,11 Market Market
