Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 24, 2020December 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PRIZED NEMESIS has had a few homes in his life but has now landed at Annie King’s yard. The trial behind Float Our Boat (first-up maiden winner) was sensational and then the fresh effort was eye-catching from well back in the field. Hardly anything has made any ground at Bunbury this season so his effort can’t be underestimated. If he can hold up leader’s back he may have found his race. WARLAGO can roll to the top and has been going well at the provincials. Doesn’t look to be much pressure and so should get it soft in front. SILENT ACT teases punters with repeated flashing minor placings. Seems to go far better when ridden cold. DRAMA FREE maps to get a cheap run again. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRIZED NEMESIS WIN RACE 2 HOT MIX is a highly talented filly attempting to keep her undefeated status. Won in style on debut at 1200m, dropped back to 1100m at Ascot and was the target of enormous support when scoring another impressive victory. 1400m looks even more suitable and with appointment of Chris Parnham looms as the one to beat. Can hold a position in running and has a powerful turn of foot. LA FAROLA ran well against the older horses first-up at Bunbury and should only improve into the prep. GHOBELLA has blinkers added but will need to stay within striking distance. CHILI IS HOT looks a real talent and ran home in all the best sections at her return to racing. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOT MIX WIN RACE 3 SCOOTER’S MACHINE gets track conditions to suit. Six starts ago won at Leonora, four starts ago won at Leinster. Very rarely would that ever make Saturday grade form but his last two since the blinkers have gone on have been excellent. Ran second to promising mare Tradensia at Bunbury and then was only nabbed late last start at Ascot. 1400m is more up his alley, leads them from gate 1 and can give a cheeky kick. WAKAN TANKA likely comes across to sit outside him and they seem to have found the key to him. FIRESALE ran home well first-up and did trial like he was about to go through the grades. WINE NIGHT comes back in grade but is mixing her form. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SCOOTER’S MACHINE EACHWAY RACE 4 SON OF A GOD is an exciting and progressive 4 year old returning to the races. His trial was as good as you will see under Chris Parnham and the last time we saw him at the races he ran third behind Windstorm and Massimo, with that pair of gallopers putting together 6 metro wins subsequently. Can stalk Ziebell and looks to enjoy the ideal map scenario. ZIEBELL is low flying. He has gone to a new level in the last month but now needs to bring it to 1200. DON’T FUSS concedes him weight for being beaten comfortably last start. Interesting to see if they settle closer. WHY CHOOSE HER has been in form for 3 months. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SON OF A GOD WIN RACE 5 KELLY’S CALLISTO is having his eight start of the preparation but continues to hold form. Ran second to Phoneme last start in a strongly run 1600 and now finds himself in a race without any pressure. Chris Parnham should fire him straight to the top from the inside gate and then looks like getting things awfully cheap in the middle stages. Hard to run down thereafter in the likely conditions. FRIARESQUE is kept fresh at a mile. Can be a frustrating horse to follow but looks a nice race for him. GLAMOUR PACKED races outside the handicap but gets significant weight relief and shades for the first time. CRYSTAL VALLEY looks just about ready to win again. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S CALLISTO WIN RACE 6 BERET showed at trials that she was in for a huge campaign. Won in emphatic style first-up and then was unable to run down Peppijack at Bunbury last start when looming the winner from the 600. Draws a gate, gains the services of William Pike and meets a fairly evenly graded 60+ opposition. Gets her chance in town. MEXI COLA was some sort of win first-up. If he can reproduce that effort at Ascot he’s the testing material. ROMAN FLIRT ran well first-up without a deal of luck. Will only improve as they step out in trip. TIFF HAS SPOKEN is going super but continues to draw sticky gates. Last time he settled in the box seat he didn’t quicken. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – BERET WIN RACE 7 SASSY TRADER takes on the older horses and while he has been his worst enemy, he has been running tremendous races. First-up in a high rating 3 year old race ran third to Burgess Queen runner up and Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Stakes winner Kissonallforcheeks, bombed the start second-up when a fast finishing third behind Alpha and Omega and then dropped back to 1000 at his most recent when running into talented sprinting duo Madam Torio and Toscana. On his last chance trust wise from the gates but if he steps he looks very well suited. LIPSTICK FLICKERS returns to the races and her trial shows that she’s ready to run a big race. Always looked capable of getting up to 72+ type of grade. DOWNFORCE ran into Resortman and Platinum Bullet first-up. Now drops in grade. SWEET STRABERRY was super fresh and looks a talent. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – SASSY TRADER WIN RACE 8 NEUFBOSC is at his final lead up race to the 2020 Perth Cup on January 2. Should he win this race he likely cops a Cup penalty that would see him carry more than the 53kg minimum so there has to be some level of caution taken in launching into the short quote but on recent form he should be very hard to beat. JUICING CARROTS box seats or even leads from the inside gate and he sneaks under the radar to an extent. Been going well for a long while. UTGARD LOKI will be right over the speed and is peaking at the right time. MONEY MAHER has a horror gate to overcome but is building quickly. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – NEUFBOSC WIN RACE 9 LEICA JAGUAR is making his way quickly through the grades. Since being kept to the 1000m he has been exhibiting an electric turn of foot and last start showed that he can even hold a position in running and still let down with a similar turn of speed. Hardest race he has seen but stable, jock and horse all in white hot form. MOOD SWINGS returns to the races and boasts a third placing to Indian Pacific and Windstorm before knocking off Bright Diamond. All good enough 3 year old form to win this. FOREST WAR was arguably the run of the race first-up when returning from a long spell. Looks in for a big preparation. SHINJU was a touch disappointing last start. He is capable of improving quickly. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – LEICA JAGUAR EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4,5,6 1,2,3,4,9,10 2,5,6,9 6,9,10 Market Market
