Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 5, 2020November 10, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SASSY TRADER was scratched from last week to be saved for this and with the early scratching (again) of Clairvoyance this looks his race for the taking. Resumed with 60kg in a hot 1200m race behind Kissonallforcheeks (2nd in Burgess Queen) and First Law. Drops back to 1100m, can lead or stalk the speed and looks to hold a class edge on rivals. AMERICAN CHOICE was able to gun down stablemate Nuhad last start and ran well first-up in the 3 year old Classic. SHOCK RESUT is a big beneficiary of the withdrawal of Clairvoyance because he now gets across. TIME SCALE hit the line well last start at 1000. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – SASSY TRADER WIN RACE 2 LIWA hails from the powerful Simon Miller yard and his entire team is hitting form just before the summer carnival. This filly has schooled up well and travels boldly in her races. From the draw Chris Parnham should have her close handy to the speed and the barrier is a huge plus for an unraced youngster. HEAR ME SING looked sharp with the winkers on and should box seat from the draw on debut. GALAXY CAT ran well on debut and should only benefit from the experience. THE LADY IS A VAMP was huge last start but again might be posted wide. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – LIWA WIN RACE 3 BRITISH BESSY backs up off 7 days, drops from a 72+ back into a 65+ and has come back to racing in super form. Caught the eye first-up in a blanket finish over a mile and then backed it up with a fast finishing second to highly progressive and exciting Peters staying proposition Truly Great. She looks ready to win again. ARAGAIN has been a model of consistency since joining Chris Willis and she can hold a position right over the speed here. COME RIGHT BACK was the beneficiary of a vintage Peter Hall staying exhibition last start. Interesting to see what the tactics are from the inside gate. TREASURED CROWN demolished moderate opposition last start but looks a stayer in the making. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – BRITISH BESSY WIN RACE 4 WESTERN PRIDE was beaten by a space last start but did draw a horror gate in a high-speed race and was forced back to an impossible position with a claiming apprentice on. Now gets in on the minimum, senior rider goes on and draws a gate. This profiles very similar to her first-up assignment when second to Patristic and beating home subsequent 78+ and Asian Beau Stakes winner Inspirational Girl. Chris Parnham can have her closer from the draw and she looks very hard to beat. NAUGHTY BY NATURE comes from the same form race and is building into the preparation. Draw might be a blessing in disguise to allow her to settle off speed. SOPHIE’S SONG went well last start and can find the front here. PADDY’S SHADOW freshened and back in trip next best. Numbers: 11 – 9 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – WESTERN PRIDE WIN RACE 5 MIDNIGHT BLUE is only a C1 galloper and was stung 8 points for placings in last season’s JC Roberts and Melvista Stakes but looks like he will be still winning his fair share of races. Two runs back have been excellent and he was jumping out of the ground late last week from back in the field. Can settle much closer from the draw and with the weight swing is capable of turning the tables on Notorious One. NOTORIOUS ONE is an excitement machine. Wobbles around like an 18 year old at 4pm on Cup Day but is slowly learning what racing is all about. No reason he can’t lead and win again. Super progressive. PAMBELLA didn’t fire a shot first-up but that could be a hot form reference race and her trial was big. DEPUTANO enjoy the run of the race. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT BLUE WIN RACE 6 REBEL KNIGHT comes from the hot 66+ containing the likes of Dom to Shoot, Em Tee Aye, Western Empire, Naughty By Nature, Sophie’s Song, Pambella etc and by Race 6 on Saturday that could be the best form reference of the month. He was enormous in that race and now drops in grade and gets the services of Chris Parnham. Capable of settling one out and one back and he is really knocking on the door. INVICTUS DOMINI brings intrigue to the race having won by a combined 18.4L in two runs at Geraldton this season. Has been beating walkers but looks a raw talent. ANGELIC MISS charged to the line behind Solaia last start. APPROACH has been flying for months but plagued by unsuitable maps. Numbers: 1 – 13 – 14 – 12 Suggested Bet – REBEL KNIGHT EACHWAY RACE 7 DOM TO SHOOT really does look the one to beat in the 2020 Fairetha Stakes. Gets big weight relief in the Set Weights and Penalties conditions dropping to 55.5kg and getting a 4kg weight swing on one of his main dangers Em Tee Aye. Expecting all the form around him to hold up throughout the meeting and since Paul Harvey has gone on he has been a different horse. Will need some luck from three deep with cover but is unleashing a powerful turn of foot. FIRST LAW put the writing on the wall with a strong first-up effort behind talented filly Kissonallforcheeks. KALLAROO was completely luckless last start and gets it soft three back the fence. EM TEE AYE has come back really well and will look to cross. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – DOM TO SHOOT WIN RACE 8 LAVERROD has hit form at the right time and like 6 or 7 of these is a great eachway chance in a wide-open edition of the Lee Steere Stakes with this race probably determining whether he has a crack at the Railway or the Winterbottom. Going well, maps favourably and has tactical speed. RED CAN MAN was well below his best last week when walking them through the middle stages and then having no real turn of foot. He can bounce back. PLATOON was brilliant first-up in the Northerly and is more than capable of gunning them down. KAY CEE was plunged first-up in a race which looked impossible for her on paper. Punters were left with peanuts but can expect a sharp improvement here from the G1 mare. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – LAVERROD EACHWAY RACE 9 CLIFFS OF COMFORT is rock hard hit, tough as nails and will lead them up from the inside gate. Even if the SW is blowing by this stage of the day, he is capable of pushing into it and still giving a real kick. Getting close to pinching one of these 72+ races. ELITE STREET was breathtaking first-up with a burst of speed which saw him thrown into Winterbottom Stakes calculations. If he can reproduce that second-up he’ll be extremely hard to hold out. BOOMTASTIC went super fresh and doesn’t know how to run a bad race. LONG BEACH has the winkers added and had no luck last start. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLIFFS OF COMFORT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,6,9,10,12,13,14 1,9 1,3,4,5,7,8,10 4,5,7,9,11 Market Market
