Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 7, 2019November 7, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 TOO SPICY showed a brilliant turn of foot to put on a galloping exhibition last start. If she can jump cleanly and muster up along the fence into the box seat then she should be able to get over them late. Set weights and penalties conditions of 2yo racing suit her down to the ground. OUR DANNI and CHOIX DE LACE are both nice trailers on debut. Both showed above average ability and speed. Interesting to note both trialed in blinkers but they are saved for a later race day. STARFIELD IMPACT draws poorly but would have won the initial plate if it was over 995m. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – TOO SPICY WIN Race 2 FORCEFUL ran into Cockney Crew last time out in an 1800m race run over 5L above benchmark. The Cockney Crew form has been winning form and he drops back to a mile, draws a gate to box seat and is reunited with W.Pike. Looks a perfect assignment for him on paper and should win. RED PUBLISHER is well placed back into ratings races after contesting 3 Listed and 1 Group race at in the last month and a half. Always runs his honest race and excellent use of a 3kg claimer. HARRY THOMAS should lead and walk. PARADISE SQUARE next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – FORCEFUL WIN Race 3 ABDICATOR was in grand form before everything went wrong for him in the Hannans. Put a line through that and his most recent is a narrow second placing to Neorological in the Farnley Stakes beating home dual subsequent winner Tellem We’re Comin. He should sit just behind Wrinkly and looks hard to run down. WESTERN TEMPLE broke through last start and won soft in the end. He maps in an identical position to last start and is the logical danger. JEDAFFAIR comes from the Cockney Crew, Forceful race which could become an even stronger form reference after Race 2. WRINKLY backs up off 7 days, drops in grade and gets an Easterly breeze at his back. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – ABDICATOR WIN Race 4 8 of the 9 runners in this field are natural on-pace runners which should ensure a cracking tempo and a three-wide train. SILKINIZE and DRINKWHATYOULIKE are both likely to work into the race and at the prices siding narrowly with SILKINIZE who found the breeze against the older horses last time out on a day where the middle of the track was electric. Previous win was strong. DRINKWHATYOULIKE is maturing as a race horse and won well last week. MASSIMO gets a wonderful chance to sit and sprint here in a high pressure race. WARFISH will be climbing over them late if they over cook it. 6 winning chances; tough race. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – Don’t. Race 5 DRIFTSTAR looks a 1000m jump and run fresh horse. His recent trial was sizzling: 55.57 and with the extremely hot conditions, rail at the true and potentially a howling Easterly he gets a grand opportunity to lead from start to finish and silence his knockers. METRO BOY drops in grade from leading up a 72+ 1100 over 3L above benchmark. Well placed and can settle in the breeze. BEAUTIFUL MIND is the most promising horse in the field but looks destined to tramp 3 deep the trip and the 1000 might be a touch sharp for her. TYCOON LEGEND a blow out from three back the paint. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – DRIFTSTAR WIN Race 6 SMARTY has won three on the bounce on the Goldfields and her win last week was the most impressive. While it was a lowly c58+ it was the way she won that really caught the eye. Eased back to near last with 59 in a fast run race and was held up before accelerating off a dime to score emphatically. If she can reproduce it in town she’ll be hard to hold out. FORGOTTEN STAR is a very nice mare who is ready to go straight through the grades this campaign. She’ll be in the three wide train from the 600 and was excellent fresh. SON OF BACCHUS can take up a far better position in running here after drawing a gate. KING’S AUTHORITY doesn’t run a bad race but hasn’t won since his debut. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SMARTY WIN Race 7 JERICHO MISSILE was a brilliant last to first winner of the Belgravia Stakes and while that was the best part of the track on the day he won with authority and should only improve out to 1400. Has shown tactical speed in the past so could settle a pair or two closer from the draw and looks awfully hard to beat. DIG DEEP caught the eye in the 3 year old Classic when held up the entire and then ran well in the Belgravia. Capable of turning the tables with the right run. RED CAN MAN box seats behind the speedy War Saint. WAR SAINT gave cheek last time out. Shades off in an attempt to settle him. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – JERICHO MISSILE WIN Race 8 THE VELVET KING vs ACHERNAR STAR vs GREAT SHOT from the Northerly Stakes, add in Gatting and Arcadia Prince and you’ve got yourself a ripper Lee Steere Stakes. THE VELVET KING is going from strength to strength and while this is his first attempt at Weight for Age he maps to enjoy a brilliant run behind speed horses Great Shot and Majinika. Improving at every run and a live hope in the Railway. ACHERNAR STAR was the eye catcher in the Northerly. He should settle on the tow ball of The Velvet King and make their runs together. GREAT SHOT is suited at WFA conditions and he gets 2kg on both The Velvet King and Achernar Star from their last encounter. GATTING is too good to leave out. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – THE VELVET KING WIN Race 9 HOBOKEN is yet to win first-up and is better known of recent times as a 1000-1100m horse but since he has been ridden cold he has simply gone to a new level. Zapped Fabergino last preparation and his recent trial was strong. In a high pressure race he should be midfield with cover and can ping late at double figures. CAROCAPO will be an artificially large price after bombing the start last week. His first-up effort was great. UNI TIME returned a career high figure last start. Interesting to see how he goes in traffic but undeniably talented. DANCE MUSIC is better than what she showed first-up, but is a big chance of being planted 3 deep the trip. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – HOBOKEN EACHWAY Quad (Race 6 – 9) 7,10 1,2 2,4,5 1,4,7,12 Market Market
