Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on March 28, 2019April 1, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 NERODIO will need some luck early in running from a horror draw but with the shades on and natural gate speed could be able to keep himself out of trouble. If Turner can find the breeze he’ll be in the finish. GINGER MACK is worth keeping in mind on debut. Has shown ability at trials and Chris Parnham is back in serious form. RIBBON OF GOLD was a great run fresh down the straight. Looks like settling wide and long way off them which makes it hard. WAKAN TANKA didn’t travel down the straight. Round the corner much more suitable. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 13 – 5 Suggested Bet – NERODIO EACHWAY Race 2 PRETTY STYLE bolted in on debut from the breeze at Bunbury. This race does not possess an abundance of early speed and if Whiting can get her across from an awkward gate then she’ll be right there at the end. CAMBIST was an impressive trial but unfortunately looks destined to do it very tough on debut. MARCEE A LADY has drawn poorly at both runs and now has blinkers added and draws a gate. Could be a different horse here. CHONCAPE was a nice trial and draws a soft alley. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRETTY STYLE EACHWAY Race 3 CUP NIGHT simply picks himself in this race. He maps to sit perfectly midfield with cover and if he shows the same turn of foot at 1400 as he did last start at 1200m then he wins this race. Hard to see anything he beat last start turning the tables and if he opens north of $2.50 then he is backable. PURE MAGNUS jumped out of the ground last start after dropping out of the JC Roberts. He looks progressive. KELLY’S CALLISTO was travelling well when held up last start but didn’t really finish off. CRISTAL DANE ran into some nice sprinters last weekend and is better suited here. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CUP NIGHT WIN Race 4 REBEL KNIGHT is again well placed against the older horses to win his first Saturday race. Has come back a different horse this preparation and he looks far and away the stronger of the 3 year olds in this race. If he can stick the trip he’ll be hard to hold out late. BEAUCOUNT gets a wonderful chance to break back into the winner’s circle. Backing up off 7 days, dropping in grade and dropping in trip. BUCKTORIO has hit a purple patch of form and he hit the line well last start behind the in-form Bella’s Idol. LAUFEY destroyed weak opponents at Mt Barker but needed that kill. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – REBEL KNIGHT WIN Race 5 SPECIAL REWARD went around a well backed $1.70 favourite first-up last campaign against the older horses. He sat outside the leader and was beaten fair and square but they did smash the clock and he was brave. Trial for his return was as impressive as they get and he maps to get a gun run. Hard to toss. MOLTEN lumped a big weight down the straight first-up. Rail 3m, Easterly breeze behind him. Won’t get a better chance at Ascot in this grade. DIABLERIE was huge last start and again has to be hard to beat. REGAL MOON can fly off a soft run three back the fence late. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL REWARD WIN Race 6 RIVER DANCE has really bounced back after a couple of below par performances to start the preparation. His effort last start was enormous. Tracked a blistering speed, hit the front and was left a sitting duck. Box seats again here and he looks the one to beat. DAM READY is in career best form and has really asserted himself as a genuine A-Grade sprinter at the minute. 1200m is as far as he gets and loses Pateman which concerns. PYM’S ROYALE was brilliant last start but this is far tougher than he has ever raced in. MORE ACES capable on his day but woefully out of form. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – RIVER DANCE EACHWAY Race 7 REGAL POWER could be destined to follow in his older brother Action’s footsteps as he marches forward towards the Derby. He was comfortably by Platoon last start but he did have excuses. Likely to open far too short to be a backable commodity but he looks hard to beat. PLATOON jumped out of the ground last start after finally drawing a gate. If he repeats it’s game on. COCKNEY CREW attacked the leader a long way from home in the Roberts. He leads comfortably here. BLACKWOOD RIVER looms as a genuine Derby contender and will stay all day. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – REGAL POWER WIN Race 8 DARK CHOICE was the run of the race in the Natasha. She was big in defeat and looks like the extra furlong will only see her improve again. Really did sharpen up with the addition of blinkers and if she can hold a spot in running early will be the one to beat. ADORNMENT lost no admirers in the Natasha. She drew wide, went back to last, attempted to circle the field and was flushed deep. Peaked late but sectionals were still strong. LADY SASS comes from alternative form lines but looks better suited being allowed to settle towards the back and come with one run. JEDAFFAIR was dominant last start and should look the winner as they straighten. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – DARK CHOICE WIN Race 9 SPECIAL DELIVERY was able to take care of a lot of these horses last start. Enjoyed an M.Pateman special on that day and while he goes up in weight and up in distance he is in form and the stable/jockey combination are going at 50% last 3 months. Can win again. ARCTIC STREAM was set a task first-up without a trial and proved that he is ready to go through the grades with a big effort in defeat. Draws a gate here and should get every opportunity to turn the tables. MIDNIGHT SKY is rarely far from the action and backing up off 7 days can see her put two together in a row. PEPPIJACK should slide across in a race without a deal of speed and can improve. Numbers: 2 – 13 – 9 – 15 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL DELIVERY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,5,10 1,2 1,2,3,5,11 2,9,13 Market Market
