Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on May 8, 2025May 8, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I’M NIPOTE has turned a corner this campaign. His C3 win was solid beating handy 3 year old True Blue Bondi but his last start effort behind Le Messager was eyecatching. He settled last in running and came sweeping home into a narrow second. Finds a winnable Westspeed Platinum and Brad Seinor is able to book the services of William Pike. He’s getting better with racing. FORTUNE’S LUCK is drawn to do no work from barrier 1 and is dangerous if the late splits come. BOUSSAC has another new rider and now a set of shades. He’s been frustrating all prep. THE SPRUIKER is always thereabouts in this grade. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – I’M NIPOTE WIN RACE 2 DAYTONA PETE will be a big improver second-up getting out to 1200m. He was just run off his feet early over 1000m behind Niccimota and Black Ora and was chasing from a long way out. This race is weaker and he’s more than capable of winning from an ideal gate/map. His 1200m win on Westspeed Platinum Day was elite. GOD’S GATE resumes off the back of a soft trial. Didn’t have winkers and didn’t lead in that trial. Natural jump and run type. POND MASTER put in a blinder first-up at 1200m and then couldn’t get into the race second-up. Is he quickly looking for further? RIPPER FAROOQ has some X-Factor. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – DAYTONA PETE WIN RACE 3 TOROPA showed just how good she is fresh with a dynamic first-up 1000m win. She’s now the winner of 6 from 10 and looks like she’ll be winning another 72+, then a 78+ and most likely have a short, sharp sprinting preparation before she spells ahead of the Mares Series over the carnival. She’s got 59kg but she’s a very classy mare. CELESTIAL STORM was all the rage her WA debut and finished second to quality conveyance Devine Belief. Not much went right after that and she’s now resuming without a trial and with Pike. GOLDEN VALE was stiff last week and gets a 1kg weight swing on Toropa from their last encounter. SINFUL LIVING will jump and run. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – TOROPA WIN RACE 4 AWESOME BOY is brilliantly placed by Bruce Kay. Simply love these 3 year olds who head to 60+ Graduation races (think Redback Flyer last week) and only carries 1kg more than he did in a Saturday 3 year old event when demolishing exciting filly Sixinch Heels by a near 3L margin. He’ll waltz to the top, control the speed and expecting him to roll into the corner with a margin on them. Nice horse. I’M CRAFTY, DENNIS CHOUX and MOJO’S LUCK are all through the same race and there was merit in all their runs, especially MOJO’S LUCK who was resuming from a 13-month layoff. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – AWESOME BOY WIN RACE 5 FAT ROY SLIM is just a Pike horse. Willie has had 5 rides on him for 4 wins and a deceptively narrow second placing last weekend in the Rogan Josh Stakes when hammered in betting. He was beaten 9L by Filthy Habits in the Albany Cup and only met him half a kilo better – the difference: W.Pike. He’s a previous winner with 61kg, he’s a 2x winner off 7 days and he’s 84+ back to 66+. Lots to like. FINE TOUCH is a tough, on speed, in form mare who will be there a long way. WHAT A PRINCE doesn’t know how to run a bad race and Jason Whiting did a great job to stay aboard at the 1100 when he mis-strode. MANAVENDRA is watch off 3 days. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FAT ROY SLIM WIN RACE 6 MASAMUNE hadn’t raced since May of 2024 when he resumed down the straight at Pinjarra and with 60kg produced one of the softest and most dominant wins of the season. He’s always shown huge ability so hopefully they can keep him in one piece and work their way through the grades. SHOOTING SPIRIT is a get back sprinter. That’s William Pike’s bread and butter; he’ll sit three back the fence and then be bursting through late. SUPERNATURAL is a quality filly resuming with no weight on her back. Must respect. KRAKEN TIME could have won 5/6 races but for bad luck in his short career. Nice horse. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – MASAMUNE WIN RACE 7 AHYEAHRIGHTO has been excellent at each run this campaign without winning. He’s drawn to get a lovely stalking run into the home straight and is ready to win. Camera Action got the better of him last start under 59kg but now dropping to 56kg and tracking up behind a hot tempo (Resonator, Jaz Session, Let’s Talk) he looks to get another great chance. One more time for him. CHOLLIMA is the ultimate fresh horse. She’s won all three of her races first-up and Darren McAuliffe produces her first-up, no trial. JAZ SESSION went within a head of making it four straight wins this campaign and if she can overcome a tricky draw she’ll be hard to hold out. LET’S TALK will need to elevate again. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – AHYEAHRIGHTO WIN RACE 8 SNITZALATTE went into the Karrakatta undefeated but after drawing barrier 11 was destined to do it tough three deep. Thought she attacked the line brilliantly and now drawn barrier 2, with Pike back on, she can be ridden to use the electric short, sharp sprint that she possesses. Great map. JUST TOO FLY worked through the field alongside Talkanco when Castle Road took a few of them wide on straightening and was able to run second in the Karrakatta Plate. He’s still a maiden but he’s now Perth Stakes-Karrakatta Stakes placed and looks like he’ll relish 1400m. Logical danger. DELTASON is the only proven 1400m horse and won with his eyes closed. STATEWIDE draws a gate and has been targeted at this race the whole way through. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SNITZALATTE WIN Same Race Multi – Snitzalatte (Top 2) + Just Too Fly (Top 3) Just Too Fly and Snitzalatte finished second and third respectively in the Karrakatta Plate behind Talkanco and now they both step to 1400m and are drawn barriers and mapped to get the runs they need. Think Just Too Fly can roll forward into a commanding spot and Snitzalatte will sit in a stalking position. Top 2 Snitzalatte, Top 3 Just Too Fly. RACE 9 SIBERIAN SIREN won from leader’s back last start. They would love cover, but where is it coming from? She’s still capable of leading and winning, but just wish that Great Fortune was here again (or a natural leader). FIRST ENCOUNTER got punters really excited with his 1000m straight trial and then the edge came off in his second trial and he wasn’t as sharp. Still great to have him back in WA. UPPER LIMITS didn’t beat a horse home last week but watch the replay: he was bolting. WESTERN POWER has gone to a new level this campaign. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – SIBERIAN SIREN EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,4,9 2,4,6,7,8,10 1,5 4,6,8,10 Market Market
