Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 27, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ODINAKA was an impressive trial winner at Belmont Park when sitting deep, sweeping around them on straightening and then showing a turn of foot in the concluding stages to get past Lacie Ace who had skipped clear. Drawn a gate to enjoy an economical passage on debut and looks to have natural ability. LACIE ACE can sit close handy to the speed and showed a turn of acceleration when asked for an effort in the trial. Did trial in blinkers and races without them. HAPPY AS LARRY has looked a different horse with ear muffs on. Chased hard behind undefeated filly Shaddow Fear on debut. SNOW PRINCE can hold a position behind likely leader Sonoftheboss. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ODINAKA WIN RACE 2 MY BELLA MAE looks a set weights and penalties special and will likely go round deep in the red. She won the Listed Placid Ark Stakes to go three from three with 54.5kg. A fortnight later she found herself contesting a Group One WFA 1200 in the Winterbottom Stakes when only beaten 3.75L by Paulele, Kissonallforcheeks, This’ll Testya, Elite Street, Miss Conteki, Hot Zed, the list goes on. First-up, 1100m 3 year old Plate and she’s only got 58kg. Seems a gift. DEETEA is chasing hard but she’s only got a 4kg pull on My Bella Mae and she’s only a Northam maiden winner. STREET PARADE has had over a month’s freshen and will park up over the speed and give his usual honest effort. CUT THE TALK looks to have ability but this is a huge step from a C1. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MY BELLA MAE WIN RACE 3 WEE RIPPER resumed in a 60+ Graduation when finishing off into second behind Speedy Miss. Is usually a big improver first-up to second-up which is ominous. Last campaign he won a very similarly graded C5 1600 second-up and if he can get an ounce of luck from the outside draw his class should take him a long way in this. LUCKY HEART sat three deep the trip and kept coming last start. He should roll straight to the top here in a race devoid of speed. He’s no star but looks to have returned well. CANNY JACK finished off hard into third behind Wise Counsel and Eldorado River last start. William Pike jumps aboard at the perfect time and he’s drawn to get a gun run closer to the speed. CHAD’S ME DAD had to dig deep to win at Albany. Honest mare. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – WEE RIPPER WIN RACE 4 FEELS DANISH beat home Constant Dreaming last start and gets her opportunity in this moderate 66+. There wasn’t much between Feels Danish and Constant Dreaming in their 3 year old days and there’s not much between them as 4 year olds. Provided she can hold a spot from the inside draw this looks very winnable for her. CONSTANT DREMAING finished third behind Mystery Island (beating home subsequent 66+ winner Coolth) two starts ago and then last start raced wide early before having a crack at Our Norman mid-race and ultimately, they both worked far too hard and faded out of it completely. TRI FOR US is the class runner but jury out on whether she stays or runs for apprentice riders. LADY DUCKWORTH showed something last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – FEELS DANISH WIN RACE 5 METALLON trialled on Monday and there’s no shame in being put away by Sniparoochy, she won a Listed Fillies & Mares race and then went into the Winterbottom last preparation. He’s a lightly raced 4-year-old who has only had six starts and won four of those six. Is a 3 year old 62+ winner leading all the way and looks to have found a very suitable and winnable 66+. DEEP DIVE made his WA debut in a sharp 72+. This is a much easier race and he should improve at his second start for Peter Fernie. HE’S GOLD took a long time to win another race after taking out the Perth Stakes as a 2 year old. Was a gritty win last start and can sit up over the speed and keep coming. PINK CARATS is yet to show up this preparation. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – METALLON WIN RACE 6 BIRDIEAGLE won a C3 from leader’s back and a C5 from leader’s back two starts later. Went back from a wide draw last weekend in a 66+ 1600 and actually finished off quite well behind Weaponson, Special View and Sentimental Hero. Proven off 7 days, back in grade and goes around eachway. There’s no standouts in this and he should be around the mark. MEMORABLE MISS was held up for clear running on resumption in a C3 at Pinjarra when beaten just over 2L by Captain Sharmane. Was completely unwanted in betting last start and defied an alarming drift when getting out to $7.50 and was too strong for them. Scratched last Saturday to save for this and is drawn to enjoy the run of the race. MAMA TEMBU is absolutely flying but can’t draw a barrier to save herself. TALLANGATTA continued the good run of Chris Willis with a last stride win most recently. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIRDIEAGLE EACHWAY RACE 7 CASH AWAY is looking for his first win beyond 1000m but his most recent 1200m effort when finishing off into fourth from a mile off them behind My Dilema, Tadweer and Goddess of Giving was good enough to suggest that it won’t be long until he cracks it at six furlongs. Right draw, right hoop, right grade. NOBELLITY lead and kicked last start when gunned down in the shadows by Saloon Bar in a race run 3.5L faster than 60+ Graduation average. She’s in a purple patch and is hard to run down. MAGIC TO EXCEED comes through the same race and never gave up the chase. MISS FIELD has put in two rippers for the new yard. Big winner first-up with 60kg and then beaten by the track pattern second-up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – CASH AWAY WIN RACE 8 HOW’S THE SERENITY was too speedy for them at 1000m in the Summer Scorcher and then again too speedy for them in the Miss Andretti. She’s gone from 54kg to 56kg and now to 59kg and it’s the weight that is the only concern for her the way she’s going. She’s leaving the machine incredibly quickly and she’s sustaining that high-speed and high-pressure running rivals into the ground. ANGELIC MISS never got into the race first-up in the Jungle Mist on a day where it was impossible to make ground. CAROCAPO has been chasing hard. At this stage of his life he’s probably looking for even further than the six furlongs. PHANTA deserve a crack at this level. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – HOW’S THE SERENITY WIN RACE 9 CASINO SEVENTEEN gets one last chance. Big at his WA debut behind The Velvet Queen and Speed Dream, just as good second-up when third to Alsephina and Big Bada Boom, grabbed on the post third-up behind The Velvet Queen, solid in defeat in the Mandurah Cup fourth-up when dropping back to 1400m and then loomed the winner on straightening last start when unable to get past a tough and dogged Corn Cob. Racing like he wants 1800m and W.Pike is back on. Time to stand up and be counted. BLAZING AWAY is working into a bit of form. He was left flat footed first-up and second-up when the sprint went on. MEGAZONE is racing well and there’s no natural leader in this. CORN COB is a little ripper. Gives 110%. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CASINO SEVENTEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3 1,3,4 1 1,4,6,7 Market Market
