Scott Embry’s Monday York Preview Posted on February 26, 2021February 27, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LADY HATRAS is a 26 start maiden but she does seem to love the tight York track. Three outings at the unique surface for 3 minor placings. Belinda Smithall has her in career best form and she was flashing at them late last start. Gets her chance. THERE’S A THOUGHT resumed in a C1 behind Fashion Queen (who goes to the Ascot 1000 Guineas). Not a bad effort to be only beaten just over 2 and a half lengths. Better suited here. PRIVATE POET can roll to the top and the leaders are normally hard to reel in at York. SECOND CHOICE next best. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – LADY HATRAS WIN RACE 2 TEMPTACION was a York winner at the end of last preparation and then first-up without a trial was thrown in the deep end by Danny Morton when resuming in the Challenge Stakes. Managed to beat a couple home in a race that contained the likes of Solaia, Kissonallforcheeks, Western Empire, Em Tee Aye and a stack of other highly talented 3 year olds. Looks a progressive mare. WORTH A RISK is extremely well placed by team Pearce into this race. Kept fresh, jumps to the front and takes real gunning down. STELLA ANNE is never far away. PAT’S FORECAST next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – TEMPTACION WIN RACE 3 CRISTAL DANE is a C5 winner and a C5 place getter resuming in a 52+. She should go well in this grade and some of her form in C5 and Graduation company when last in work really stands out in a race like this. Sharon Miller’s yard are ticking along well enough and first-up no trial she can salute. CHISANO won in this grade last start in style and was a York winner last preparation. ME ‘N’ TAZ an improver if Derrick can find the top. SUPERLOVE won a maiden last start but does look to be improving. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – CRISTAL DANE WIN RACE 4 MASTER MOORE ran fourth at Bunbury first-up and did get tightened over the concluding stages. Superlove, American Grin and Sichern finished in front of him and they all look like winning races. Drawn the inside gate and this is a very weak maiden handicap. CITY LADIES has only had the one career outing when finishing a distant 8th after being given every chance in running. The recent trial was sound when winning at Lark Hill. GUARDED has run out of chances. Sat over the speed last start in a similarly weak maiden handicap and didn’t give a yelp. BACHELOR BOY hasn’t run a placing in 25 but wasn’t bad the other day. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – MASTER MOORE WIN RACE 5 MAJESTIC MAN has had two runs in this preparation, 9th beaten 9L and 14th beaten 14.5L. Somehow, he still looks a winning chance. Resumed down the 1000m straight and was never a winning chance. Second-up stepped to a 60+ Saturday when they smashed the clock behind That’s Funny Az. Drops back into a 46+, reunites with regular rider Jason Whiting and drawn a gate at a track where he has gone well before. Keep safe and don’t be surprised to see him firm. AFLICA’S GIRL has to go close in a race like this. She is racing below her best but still deserves to go round fav. IZZY MAY an improver. BLACK SMUGGLER suited over further but can sit deep and work. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAJESTIC MAN EACHWAY RACE 6 SIOUX CITY took the step from a maiden handicap into a C1 last start and sat in the breeze in a race where they went 2.5L faster than average and was still fighting on with only 100m to go. Big effort with that race already producing well supported subsequent winner City Centre. FASCINATION comes out of 58+ racing at Geraldton and that should hold up as strong form for a race like this. FOXY ROYALE is the track specialist and gets back into 46+ company. SPORTY SPICE goes well fresh and is drawn ideally. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SIOUX CITY WIN RACE 7 PRAYING WITH GOD has caught the eye at her last couple of outings. Fourth behind Tambora, Prized Miss and Calag in a C1 1400, beaten less than 2L in a C3 behind WATC bound 3 year old Outback Jack, Champagne Gal and Lil Red Bikini and now steps up to a trip. Worth a throw at the stumps. NOBLE KING has been a frustrating follow recently. Clearly going well but tends to find bad luck in his races. AHYOKA FROST broke back into the winner’s circle last start and can go on with it. ADMIRAL PROMO was a winner this track/distance/grade only 5 starts ago. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRAYING WITH GOD EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,10,11 1,3 1,2,3,6 2,4,7,9 Market Market
