Scott Embry’s Monday York Preview Posted on February 28, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 POMME will open at a big price but isn’t impossible first-up. The recent trial was reasonable, Darren McAullife’s yard is flying and this is a weak race. ULTIMATE DESIRE has run two good placings and looks like breaking maiden status in the provincial area soon. MAGNUSSON MAN went close first-up but that was a ridiculously slowly run race. 19L slower than average. Not a form reference which can be trusted. WHO’S A PRETTY GAL can improve without surprising at a price. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – POMME WIN Race 2 FAITH IN RIKKI was given a good push by new trainer Bruce Watkins before the stable debut and ran a ripping race when only run down late by Silver Oak. Slight query on that as a form reference but reproduces that run and goes close. MARCASITE has been trialing up well and ran some nice races in the first campaign. CARABINIER draws well and should be running well in this kind of race. GOLDEN TRIGGER ran well for start for a new stable. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – FAITH IN RIKKI WIN Race 3 TRAMONTANE is a quirky animal. But in this grade he has to go close. If he can’t compete in this then we will lose faith. Chris Parnham riding as well as anyone in the state at the minute and gets another go. POWER AND PASSION is very well placed by Paul Jordan into this race. First-up last preparation finished strongly when second to Position of Power beating home Minika. May get back but charges late. LITTLE RED ROMAN can run a race fresh. VITAL DANCER is not the same horse as 18 months ago but consistent. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRAMONTANE WIN Race 4 METALLIC QUEEN is a get back type which is always of huge concern at a track like York, but she does love the circuit with 1 win and 2 minors from only 3 visits. First-up run was good behind Universal Appeal, Semigel and Casino War and can go close here. TESTA DE LAGO is yet to really fire but should get a chance at finding the top. SUPER TEROITOA is a wonderful ride for 4kg claiming apprentice Keshaw Dhurun. If he leads he’s hard to beat. PIXATED is a bit hard to catch but has ability. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – METALLIC QUEEN WIN Race 5 TOP RATED took off before acceptances two start ago and almost pinched it in the race won by Tortino (who has run well since). One from one at York and if he jumps he’ll settle in the first few in running. APPARITION finally broke through for a deserved win last start after being ultra competitive for months and months. ARMED AND READY gets 1.5kg on Apparition from their last start encounter and is going well. BLACK SMUGGLER is the track specialist. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – TOP RATED EACHWAY Race 6 FETCH MORE AMMO ran last at her most recent assignment. But that was a 60+ race in town. Sophie’s Song goes to a 72+ Saturday, Special Choice was competitive in the 3 year old features, Playing Marika was a last start winner and Zackariah Beau ran well Wednesday. Draws a nice gate and can definitely bounce back. ALL SQUARE lumped 74kg of Aaron Paul Rogers at Kojonup. Natural query on the form but any horse who has Dodgey Rogey off in the form guide is worth specking. SHOUHOU finished off nicely at Pinjarra last week. LA BIONDA could well have targeted this race. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – FETCH MORE AMMO WIN Race 7 ALCINA has been flying all preparation with excuses more often then not. Second to Lido Beach four starts ago beating home Olga Louisa and at her most recent she finished within 2L of Cosmic Eyes, Pure Dynamite, Excellent Dream and Bedouine Belle. Really does get her chance. CHISANO is a great debut ride for 4kg claimer Victoria Corver. If she can lead she’s a live chance of winning at her first race ride. FOXY ROYALE is going particularly well for Matt Scott. REACTION won soft last start. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALCINA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,8 1,3,5 1,3,4,6,7 1,2,5,6,8 Market Market
