Scott Embry’s Monday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 9, 2024February 9, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NEW ATTRACTION is a Pierro filly out of Peters Investments mare Royal Attraction and she was a big improver first-up to second-up when stepping out over a bit more ground. Had trouble finding clear running in the home straight and then finished off into second behind I’m On and beat home main rival Stay Astern in the process. Looks a nice opportunity for her to open her winning account. STAY ASTERN has been up all season and has promised to win a race all campaign. Had genuine excuses on a few occasions but has had a fair few opportunities now. MAGNAMAN found the line nicely last start. DAIYAMODO put in her best run yet last start. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – NEW ATTRACTION WIN RACE 2 HOLY SPY has now won over $30,000 in stake money as a country maiden galloper who continues to knock on the door with minor placings. There has to be a race for him in the near future and from barrier 2 it’s hopefully for a very patient Willie Parker and connections. Fingers crossed that Monday is the day (finally). MIFF MUFFERED MOOF has put in two excellent runs since making her debut for Julia Martin. Logical danger. VIKING FOREVER never got a crack at them at any stage last start going to the line under a hold. He’s capable of burning across from the wide draw here. HOOCHIE GUCCI was only fair on debut at Barker. Trials were better. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOLY SPY WIN RACE 3 HONORFIC wasn’t disgraced last start over 1600m when only finishing 1.5L off Dark Missile and Blue Cheyennne. He’s a proven weight carrier over the years but more importantly he’s a staying type who really only gets half a season at Geraldton to show his best. He’s 1 from 1 at the 1920 and goes lengths better for Troy Turner than anyone else. Nice race for him on paper. BRISANCE will roll along and look to break them open from the 1000. COLOUR ME QUICK has won two of her last three and is proving herself a really tough race mare. ART ADMIRER can bob up from time to time and has a 6kg weight pull on the stablemate. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – HONORFIC WIN RACE 4 DEVIL GIRL was just too tough for them last start. Afforded no luck in running she sat parked three deep the trip without any cover and she just extended her margin further and further in the home straight. Same track, same grade, back to 1400m and drawn to get a gun run. Hard to see how she’s not fighting out the finish off that performance. I’M ON is a lightly raced filly taking on the older horses and since arriving at the GTC has improved from start to start. AMERICAN AGENT caught the eye at her return to racing. JUAN WON ONE is more than capable at this level. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – DEVIL GIRL WIN RACE 5 EIN STEIN was bolting in behind them last start and unable to get clear galloping room at any stage up the home straight. Looked to the eye like he had plenty to offer and from barrier 3 he should get the right run up on top of the speed here. No stand outs in this field and thinking that he might get under the radar a bit (at least in early markets?). PLATINUM SHOT won her maiden at Albany by panels and then ran into a sharp C1 field at Bunbury. This is quite a lot easier for her. CLEVER COMBAT broke his maiden with a bit of style at Barker. Coming back to 1113m maybe a minor query? LA PATRONA can kick through along the inside into a commanding spot. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – EIN STEIN EACHWAY RACE 6 HAMMARMILL will need a pattern of the day to allow them to make ground, but if they can, then she’s one of the more talented mares on the program and she’s only resuming in a 58+. Third in a 60+ Graduation behind Celebrity Prince and Saloon Bar back at Belmont in September reads up brilliantly for a race like this. SPIRIT MAN has been another great tried horse for Julia Martin who is making a name for herself in the region as someone who can improve these tried types. Barrier is a big difficulty here. ORISTANO is going super but the barrier means he likely does it very tough. HUSTLE is another Julia Martin runner who has grown a leg in Gero. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – HAMMARMILL WIN RACE 7 WHAT A PRINCE was plunged to beat Dream To Me last start – punters plz. Back out to 1413m and now with the services of Troy Turner this looks a far more suitable set up for him. He’s in form and he can either kick through to lead them up or he can sit parked on the speed and work his way into the clear. WESTOZI is probably alongside Trade War as one of the more talented gallopers that Ava Catarino has ridden in her short career to date. Barrier 10 is not an easy steer but she has a versatile horse underneath her and with even luck he’ll go well again. CHIX CHATTER beat home What A Prince last start and maps to get the run he needs. PATCHWORK never runs a bad race. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WHAT A PRINCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,8 1,3,5 2,3,5 2,4,5 Market Market
