Scott Embry’s Friday Roebourne Preview Posted on August 10, 2022August 9, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MODERN TIMES finished third behind Shinju and Denga in a 56+ last start when leading and only fading in the concluding stages. Small field suits, should either lead or park on stablemate Flying Arabian and love the fact Lisa Staples jumps on. MYBAK has beaten home Flying Arabian in their recent encounters and the fence is a great spot at Roebourne. FLYING ARABIAN is a bit all or nothing at the minute. Jumps and runs. Not taking the corner that well at all. FOO TROUBLE next best. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MODERN TIMES WIN RACE 2 ZEEWIJK won a C3 on 10 June, a 56+ on June 25 (by over 4L) and then has finished fifth behind Chengdu and third in the Settlers Sprint behind Can’tcatchthis and Counter Drive. That’s the best form line for this race and after the claim for Cassey Martinan looks the one to beat. COPPING POINTS is slowly but surely finding his feet on the dirt. Good effort last start behind Chengdu. POWER AND PASSION has the Block of Land form but the drop back in trip isn’t ideal. NORTHERN CHILL next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – ZEEWIJK WIN RACE 3 ABLE ENGINE won a 68+ 1400 at Roebourne back on June 10 and since then has finished fifth to Rhino Buster, Crossaro and Bambun Boy, fourth in the Pilbara Cup when wide throughout behind Apparition and then sixth in the Port Hedland Cup behind Block of Land and Roebourne Cup winner Crossaro. Back to a mile, back into a 61+ and Kayla Cross riding well. Nice set up for him. TEST OF STRENGTH won back to back races to start his preparation. This is the most winnable race he has seen since. MACAVITY follows a very similar path to Able Engine. BOLD VICTORY is getting close. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ABLE ENGINE WIN RACE 4 TOP POCKET may have finally found his race. Only had two starts at Roebourne and finished second on both occasions. Most recently finished second to Kalakaua in a C1 and beat home main rival second Choice. Back into a maiden, down 2kg and with Lisa Staples in the saddle he’ll do. SECOND CHOICE has promised to win one all preparation. Think 1400m stretches him. KING OF THE JIVE brings alternate form. If he was to find the front he could give cheek. MONEY FOR MUSIC has been hit and miss. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – TOP POCKET WIN RACE 5 WHO’S YOUR MAMA won a Carnarvon maiden over 1000m, finished second to highly in form galloper Passport in a C1 1000m at Carnarvon and then finished third at her first start at Roebourne to Shy Boy and Rakiura. Lisa Staples on and taking on what looks an inferior opposition to last start. Looks a great race for her. MISS SILVERSPRINGS finally broke through last start and can go on with it now. I HOPE YOU DANCE has been caught in this grade a long time but continues to run well. I’M BELIEVABLE hasn’t had a lot of luck recently. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – WHO’S YOUR MAMA WIN RACE 6 SHACKLETON went back to back last month but the wheels have fallen off at his last two. Shades on and some weight relief both help. In his last win he beat home Shinju and carried 3kg more than him. Meets him 3.5kg better at the weights here after the Cassey Martinan claim and can bounce back. SHINJU has seemingly improved since then and looms a legitimate danger. CHENGDU is a Roebourne specialist and the way he’s going he’ll measure up in this grade. KING OF PLANETS showed a bit more speed last start and is better suited back to 1200. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHACKLETON WIN RACE 7 RHINO BUSTER won a 68+ five starts ago when leading all the way to beat Crossaro and Bambun Boy. Second in the Marble Bar Cup to Apparition, third in the Harding Cup to Elafella and now drops massively in grade from a 68+ back into a 56+. The weight is an ask but he’s the class runner of the field. TOP NOTCH SCOTCH has got better and better with racing this preparation. BILLY JACK is yet to really hit his peak on the dirt.REVEREND JOHN’s best looks behind him. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – RHINO BUSTER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3 2 2,3,4,5 1,3 Market Market
