Scott Embry’s Friday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 28, 2024February 28, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 IDENTIFIER has her first start for Gordon Spowart and has the region’s leading rider Troy Turner aboard. She’s run third behind Hemlock Stone and Five Down, second behind Weeraechoux and hasn’t had much luck on many occasions. Trialled well at Geraldton before the last meeting 8 days ago and should go close here. DIAMOND LIGHT ran a nice enough fifth beaten under 1L behind Sky View/Toni’s Spirit at Northam back in August when leading. Keep safe. ROYALE MUCK UP finds this easier than recent assignments. LIBERTY DAME has had 7 weeks freshen. Been close on a few occasions. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – IDENTIFIER WIN RACE 2 NEW ATTRACTION has had three starts this campaign. Got run off her legs on debut over 1200m, ran second to I’m On at 1400m at her second career outing and then stepped out to a mile when running second behind Daiyamondo beating home key rival Special Plan. Drawn wide but looks like she’ll do most of her racing from off speed regardless and looks to be improving at each outing. SPECIAL PLAN likely rolls straight to the top and from there Tash Faithfull can dictate terms to them and try to pinch it on the corner. ZERO DAWN kicked back hard last week and was gritty. GLYDA is going along alright. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – NEW ATTRACTION WIN RACE 3 WHAT A PRINCE has won two of his last three in 70+ company and now drops back into a 58+. Has to carry 60kg and has to run out 1600m but from barrier 1 he’ll get all the favours, do no work in the run and has the versatility to sit leader’s back and then sprint in the home straight once clear. Another great race for him. HONORFIC looked the one last start and got the beautiful run through along the fence to score. Looks a deeper race but he also drops 1.5kg in weight. Logical danger. UNI QUEEN can make her own luck and is proven at this level. THE COLLECTOR was brave last week after covering ground. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – WHAT A PRINCE WIN RACE 4 BRISANCE won a 58+ 1400 going back five starts ago when Troy Turner rode him and he lead throughout. Since then he’s dropped back to 1100m (forgive), raced outside the handicap in a 70+ (forgive), lead and been beaten in a 58+ mile by in form types Dark Missile / Blue Cheyenne and Allaboutthecraic and then gone to 1925m (forgive). Back in distance he looks hard to run down. SINGLETON PARK resumed behind Divine Pair who races on Wednesday at Bunbury. Looks good form. SUN CHACEN has been attacking the line hard at every run for a while now. MOMBASA arguably should have gone very close last start when the gap up the fence closed on him with 100 to go. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – BRISANCE WIN RACE 5 SCHUHBECK has been going really well recently and might sneak under the radar in early markets. Finished 4.5L off Play Dice and Terratif three starts back, eyecatching behind Premium Girl (subsequent winner), Yallingup Girl and Cool Memory (subsequent winner) two back and last start again got through traffic late in a race that’s produced Tin Chooks to victory. Senior on and drawn well. Big watch. NAVY SUN is going really well and can overcome the wide draw rolling forward. DAIYAMONDO, MIFF MUFFERED MOOF and QUEENS SACRIFICE are all last start maiden winners but it’s not easy to go up 2kg and win again. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – SCHUHBECK EACHWAY RACE 6 HAMMARMILL was held up the majority of the home straight first-up. She’s again drawn inside so she’ll need some luck but she drops 4.5kg in weight and while Troy Turner jumping off is far from ideal Tash Faithfull is a more than adequate replacement. Just needs some luck in the home straight. BOMBAY STYLE showed last start that it doesn’t matter what distance it is between 1100m and 1600m – he’s just a great country galloper. Honest, consistent and gives 110% every time he steps out. SAFETY BAY and JOHNNY ANGEL both haven’t raced for over 400 days but both trialled well for their respective returns to racing. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – HAMMARMILL WIN RACE 7 THE SLAP was enormous two starts back when carrying 59kg in a C2 1200 and parking deep throughout to beat home Tycoon Demon. They meet again here, same track, same distance, same grade and with the barrier draws being what they are it’s hard not to side up with THE SLAP. Not disgraced in a 60+ Graduation at Pinjarra last start. TYCOON DEMON has had a brilliant preparation. Given 5 weeks between runs and is a proven weight carrier and is going super. WELL PLAYED has a 3kg claimer replaced with a senior. She’s going well enough to figure. VIVID DREAM finds this easier than first-up in town. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE SLAP WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,5 1,5,7,9,10,12,12 1,6,7,10 1,2 Market Market
